Samatvam Academy is a pioneer in the field of strengths-based, high impact learning. Our programs
employ state-of-the-art experiential methods woven around robust, process-based conceptual
frameworks to deliver learning outcomes that are experiential, affirmative, inspiring and convincing.
The Sanskrit term “Samatvam” refers to a state of harmony and coherence that is attained when mental
conflict or indecisiveness is creatively resolved or meditatively transcended.
Firstly, the Academy is a life school that prepares people to challenge and transcend their own
limitations and constraints. Participants apply self-potential by involving the whole being in executing
their activities, and learn to engender excellence in all that they do.
Next, the Academy is a crucible for the development of synergy. One and one can equal zero, one or
two depending upon whether they are subtracted, divided or added. However, they yield eleven in
deep synergy. Accordingly, we facilitate the transition of individuals and groups of people from conflict
to collaboration to synergy.
Finally, the Academy plays the role of a catalytic agent. It enables transformation in the areas of
motivation, values, attitudes and behaviour among the members of an organization. This helps
enhance the collective capacity for adaptation and innovation in order to make the organization
future-ready.
We employ multi-model teaching methodologies including group simulations, structured games and
exercises, role-plays, paired conversations, creative exercises, audio-visual films and yogic techniques.
The Academy offers six Open Enrolment programs. Additionally we adapt all our programs to specific
organizational contexts, and conduct these as customized workshops designed around detailed
diagnostic inputs. Our one-on-one coaching engagements help unlock the latent potential of
organizational executives, and dramatically improve their professional effectiveness as well as
confidence.

Keep yours words positive, because your words become your behaviour.
Keep your behaviour positive, because your behaviour becomes your habits.

..... Mahatma Gandhi

Dr. Anil Maheshwari
In contemporary society, human beings are increasingly
organizing themselves into larger ensembles. Effective
modern organizations are performance systems that
process great ideas into frames of action. They are usually
moulded as hierarchies of managerial accountability that
employ people in order to accomplish work that fulfills
human needs.
Large organizations are structured around at least six levels
or roles – the worker, the supervisor, the manager, the
executive, the leader, and the director . The
nomenclature may vary according to the culture or the
context, but the essence remains. The Worker delivers task
performance. The Supervisor aligns individual contributors
for collective performance. The Manager optimizes the
working of the department. The Executive generates
innovative results at the functional or unit level. The Leader
integrates the different units into a single, cohesive entity
towards a sustainable, collective future. The Director
exercises oversight, and enables development from the
perch on the Board or the Governing Council.
The individual human being behind each of these roles is an
expansive entity that exists at multiple potentials of being
and of knowing, ranging from matter to body to mind to
spirit. Each one of us carries unique gifts as we make our way
into this world. In fact, every person is potentially divine. A
holistic approach towards the development of the
individual's latent capabilities stands the best chance of
enabling some of that divinity to become manifest.
The ideal for collective human existence is the opportunity
for every individual member to deploy one's personal
capabilities to the maximum–both towards personal
satisfaction, and for the successful functioning of the
institution.
The Individual and the Organization

When I dream alone, it is just a dream.
When we dream together, it is the beginning of reality.
When we work together following our dream,
it is the Creation of Heaven on Earth "

Learning Outcomes:
An organization creates value for its customers through the delivery of products or services.
This process hinges on the accomplishment of innumerable tasks – large and small – in an
efficient and elegant manner. Members of an organization who are directly responsible for task
achievement are referred to as “individual contributors”.
Most organizational members usually spend the first few years of their career in that capacity.
Whether in sales, accounting, IT, manufacturing or supply chain, they contribute by meeting
outlined goals in specified time frames through the use of their professional skills. Their
performance ideal is to accomplish excellence in the assigned areas of responsibility.
Excellence is guided by an individual's intention to generate constructive outcomes towards the
achievement of efficacy as well as fulfillment in the performance of tasks. This demands
preparedness on the intrapersonal plane.
Human beings are blessed with an extraordinary spectrum of consciousness that constitutes
their being. The different levels of the personality – physical, emotional, mental, intuitive and
causal – need to be organized into a state of mutual concert. This integration enables the
person to harmonize and apply all of one's “personal” resources towards the chosen task or
enterprise. The perceived constraints and limitations are progressively transcended such that
performance eventually culminates into excellence.
To achieve Individual Excellence in actual practice, the following processes should be
concurrently deployed:
a) – Discovering one's own talents, and deploying these in a chosen direction
b) – Mindfully channelizing vitality and effort in the service of the endeavour
c) – Spontaneous mastery over the intersection between oneself and the task
üExplore the various levels of their being, and achieve homogeneous integration among
these
üAccomplish the assigned tasks in a manner that delights all stakeholders
üFeel spontaneous joy and a sense of intrinsic reward in the performance of activities
üExperience an energized merging of action and awareness
üDiscover constructive growth opportunities even in challenging circumstances
üEnhance self-confidence and self-efficacy

Learning Outcomes:
Skilled individual contributors get promoted to a supervisory role when they produce good
results and demonstrate an ability to collaborate with others. Their focus now shifts from
delivering personal excellence to enabling collective performance. Facilitating symphony of the
kind that is witnessed in a well-rehearsed orchestra or a synchronized surgical unit is the
primary supervisory challenge.
Supervisors must first win the respect and trust of team members before demanding a
semblance of conformity. They must assume full responsibility for the people and deliverables,
even while the requisite authority takes its time in coming their way. Organizational
interdependencies mean that supervisors must catalyze positive changes even outside their
areas of direct responsibility.
This stepping-stone to leadership is truly a “trial by the fire”.
A workgroup is a dynamic, living system of inter-relationships amongst a set of individuals
working together to realize shared aspirations.
The supervisor's mandate is transform this collective into a high-performing team where
members complement and leverage the strengths of one another for the accomplishment of
uncommon results.
o do this, an aspiring supervisor or team leader must:
(a) Demonstrate Personal , which is the quality of being trusted and
respected by others
(b) Build Interpersonal that helps inspire engagement and dedication
of other colleagues
(c) Enable Collective , whereby a group of people is inspired towards
working together in the pursuit of common goals
üBuilding personal credibility through creative and authentic behavior
üDiscovering and articulating the dreams, strengths and talents of colleagues
üBuilding and maintaining healthy relationships
üAligning the members of the workgroup towards a common agenda, and mobilize
them to action

Learning Outcomes:
A manager is one who provides directional and operational inputs to, and is held accountable
for the output of, groups of people. The process of management involves the use of knowledge
and skill in the exercise of judgment and decision-making. Judgments may be about reality
(assessment of the facts in a situation), or about value (the significance of those facts).
A departmental, project or regional workgroup is a system of inter-relationships amongst
individuals working together to achieve common objectives. Managers of such workgroups
plan, assign, monitor and measure the work of the team towards the performance of specified
tasks. They ensure collective success by way of progressively increased output with the
employment of minimal resources. The resulting productivity, or optimality, facilitates
organizational success in the presently hyper competitive business environment.
The key to managerial efficacy lies in recognizing that high task productivity is not necessarily in
opposition to the development of meaningful relationships. These are complementary values
that are symbiotic in nature, just like the two sides of the same coin. Effective managers
maximize value-creation by deriving synergy between task achievement and individual
fulfillment.
This is facilitated through a spiral process of three concurrent steps:
(a) – Identifying, articulating and reaffirming the individual
strengths, values and sense of purpose that drive people
(b) – Aligning the individual resources into a capable and armonious
whole working towards a common objective
(c) – Planning and deployment to achieve optimal results
üHelp colleagues articulate their sense of meaning and individual purpose
üLeverage diversity by utilizing individual strengths to build competence
üActively build workgroups where members share common values, but possess
complementary abilities
üCreate a sense of ownership in every colleague, and develop others to be their best
üDeliver collective work products even in unfamiliar situations, without compromising on
processes and standards

The business environment is rife with conflict and contrasts. Modern organizations seek to
accomplish complex tasks, even while they have conflicting interests built into their very
character. Organizations need to promote stability and growth, tradition and innovation,
collaboration and competition, order and freedom – all at the same time.
The archetypal executive challenge relates to pulling together apparently incompatible
priorities that are simultaneously critical in delivering value. The opposition between polarities
is merely a screen that veils their genuinely symbiotic nature. These are complementary values,
just like the two sides of the same coin. Extraordinary synergycan be obtained by creatively
integrating these traditional opposites.
Thus, true executive competence lies in transcending dichotomy, and maximizing value-
creation by transforming conflict into synergy.
Synergy is a dynamic process in which the combined effects produced by cooperative
relationships among various interacting entities is greater than the sum of effects when these
agencies act independently. It helpsintegrate different perspectives without any value being
given up or lost.
The synergistic approach to management has a logic that reconciles differences. It enables
effective interaction with people who hold contrasting value systems. Synergy transforms the
competitive relationship between opposing perspectives into a complementary one.
Synergy is yielded through a three-step process sequence as follows:
(a) - Inquire and gain insight into the merit resident in every person or
situation
(b) - Integrate and harmonize the apparently competing or conflicting
values, priorities and perspectives
(c) - Turn polarity into complementarity, and harness innovation
results
üAppreciating the phenomenon of interdependence and the value of relationships in
organizational life
üReconciling and integrating seemingly opposing priorities and perspectives to obtain
mutually beneficial outcomes
üComprehending ambiguous situations, and leading them to a satisfactory resolution
üDeveloping perceptual flexibility and behavioural adaptability
üCreating innovative solutions to seemingly intractable problems

Leadership is the collective capacity of a human community to evolve and realize its own future.
Leaders govern the value-creation work of the operational and managerial facets of an
organization, and guide it towards sustainability.
Leaders recognize that any living system transforms rapidly when it views change as the means
to preserve itself. Therefore, they notice changes in the environment and reinvigorate the
organization's operational and cultural systems to adapt their behaviour accordingly.
The mandate of leadership is to stage revolutions in organizational systems. Even in times of
stability, leaders awaken the organization to new possibilities of capitalizing upon the emerging
future.
The quest for leadership is an inner journey to discover the depths of one's own identity. Upon
this secure foundation, authentic and credible relationships are established. The resulting
mutuality of trust and confidence helps accomplish qualitative change that is the hallmark of
transformational leadership. Inner shifts in people's motives, and attitudes are combined with
an outer change in behaviour, processes, and practices.
Transformational leadership is yielded through a spiral of three processes, or a play with three
acts, being performed concurrently:
a) – An “inspired” search for the core heritage (or the life-
enhancing forces) in a “connected” human system- through
reflective dialogue and sharing of peak experiences.
b) – Developing a shared understanding of what people want to
collectively be (mission) and become (vision), thus generating
insights into new potentials and possibilities.
c) – Deploying a strategic design to “attain' the vision in actual
practice, with a spirit of service
üGain an understanding of the existing cultural pillars of a human system
üCo-creating a collective vision in consultation with all stakeholders
üUse the visioning process to direct the flow of strengths towards value-creation
üCreate an environment that allows people to use their imagination
üGenerate collective energy and commitment towards achieving a vision

The need for every member of the organization to perform up to one's potential is greater than
ever before. Each one of us continually requires gaining fresh knowledge, learning new skills
and imbibing positive attitudes in order to deliver superlative performance.
This is optimally catalyzed through the establishment of a coaching relationship between a
senior and an emerging leader. The process of coaching facilitates the unlocking of a person's
potential to think and act beyond existing limits and paradigms. The goal is to help maximize
performance and enhance confidence at the same time.
At the heart of coaching is an interpersonal dialogue, which allows for collaborative critical
thinking, planning, reflection, and feedback toward the realization of the protege's visions,
goals or desires. The coach and the protegé together explore new destinations and possibilities
by challenging the perceived constraints.
Our coaching framework adopts an appreciative, strength-based approach to development, in
line with the latest scholarly research in the area of optimizing human performance. It has three
core phases:
(a) – Recognizing the inherent potential resident within the protege and
develop a full picture of the current values, talents and skills
(b) – Challenging the status quo by envisioning a preferred future for the
individual, while pushing the creative edges of possibility
(c) – Performance and development plans are developed to help translate
the vision into actual reality. It also involves behavioral experimentation
in order to overcome old habits and learn new ones.
This entire expedition is intended towards enabling the protege to perform at full potential by
gradually TRANSCENDING his/her perceived LIMITATIONS.
üLearning to enhance another person's confidence to excel in a chosen endeavour
üDeploying the processes of inquiry to help uncover personal aspirations
üFraming appreciative questions that affirmatively bring out a person's strengths and
talents
üDefining and articulating a personal vision through a creative and engaging process
üCrafting road maps for realization of professional objectives in conjunction with personal
fulfillment
üPractice of coaching conversations in real time, and receiving constructive feedback.

Participant Profile :
Modern organizations participate in a world of constant social and economic change. They
perform and grow in the face of uncertainties - internal as well as external. This requires them to
remain perennially innovative, and swiftly adapt to their environment.
Adaptation is propelled by two fundamental sources of energy: fear and aspiration. While
fear is instrumental in producing extraordinary accomplishments within short periods of
time, aspiration is the engine that has been proven to deliver enduring learning and change
Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is an aspirational approach to organizational innovation and
adaptation in a fast-paced environment that catalyzes change at the speed of imagination. It is
fundamentally based on the premise that human life is a profound mystery to be embraced and
explored, rather than a series of problems to be solved.
AI seeks to discover the strengths or the forces of vitality of
an organization, and then build upon these to formulate a
picture of the organization's aspired future. Its core
methodology of celebrating the springs of vitality in a
human system unleashes sparks of collective energy. This
helps remedy the system's deficiencies, and also propels it
towards the realization of the articulated vision.
Appreciative Inquiry is designed around the following four-
phase process:

Modern citizens have forgotten the art of living in great health. We do not breathe rightly, eat correctly, digest well or excrete satisfactorily. As a result, the blood remains impure, and the immune system is weakened. This eventually results into psychosomatic diseases like migraine, asthma, diabetes, and ulcer.
The classical system of yoga adopts a comprehensive approach to help human beings achieve good health, emotional equanimity, mental peace, and intellectual clarity. Yogic techniques harmonize the physical, mental, moral and spiritual aspects of the personality. Sincere and consistent practice leads to a healthy body, a clear mind and a resilient spirit.
This workshop covers the following aspects of Yoga :(a) Asana : Theory, concept and practice of Yogic postures (b) Kriya : Simple procedures for maintaining body hygiene (c) Pranayama : Breathing techniques to enhance vital energy(d) Ahaar : (Food and Diet) (e) Vihaar : (Recreation and Relaxation) (f) Achaar : (Routines and Lifestyle) (g) Vichaar : (Values and Attitudes)
