AF##-CSM Date MEMORANDUM FOR SAMC Selection Board SUBJECT: Letter of Nomination for SSG Doe, John 1. Letter will be 2 to 3 paragraphs with specific, quantifiable comments about the Soldier’s character and tactical and technical competence. Letters are not limited to the 3 paragraphs. Letter of Nomination not meeting these criteria will be rejected. 2. Can use information from the Soldier’s entire record, including comments about schools completed, assignments, deployments, impact awards, achievements and accomplishments. 3. Generic flowery comments are not effective in communicating the Soldier’s attributes to board members. If you can change the name of the person being recommended to someone else and the comments are not false, then the letter is probably too generic to communicate effectively to board members. 5. The POC for this memorandum is ___________ at XXX-XXXX.

Research Paper

The history (overview) of the SAMC, the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, and why the Noncommissioned Officer desires to be a member. The research paper will be typed, minimum of one (1) page but not to exceed two (2) pages, single space, Times New Roman 12 Font. The overview of the SAMC should provide a basic snapshot of the history of the SAMC but most importantly, it should highlight the functions and charities that the current MCOE SAMC participates in. Example response for why the NCO wants to be inducted:

There are a few reasons why I should be inducted into the Sergeant Audie

Murphy Club. First reason is that my Chain of Command and NCO Support

Channel feels that I would make a good candidate for induction into this

prestigious club. They have observed my performance and leadership abilities. I

feel honored that my leaders feel that my leadership traits and abilities would be

an asset to the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

Another reason why I should be inducted is I think I have the qualities that

could benefit the club. I have strong work ethic and I enjoy doing volunteer work

and community service projects. I have learned from members of the SAMC that

the club is involved in various types of community functions, which I would be

willing to participate in future events.

In addition, SAMC members have a vast amount of knowledge and

experience that I could resource for self-development and sharing with my

Soldiers.

Finally, I believe the process of being inducted into the SAMC will be a

challenge and will help me grow as a Noncommissioned Officer and leader.
