INTRODUCTION

This guide details how to install a new power button into your Samsung Epic 4G. Directions areprovided for both disassembly and reassembly.

Step 1 — Phone Case

Turn off the phone using the "PowerButton". The Power button is locatedon the left side of the phone and hasa circle on it.

To remove the back panel of thephone, slide your fingernail alongthe edge of the device and pull atthe panel as shown in the figure.While pulling at it along the edge youwill hear a snap. That snap tells youthat the panel is coming off thephone.

Step 2

After hearing the snap you shouldbe able to remove the plasticbacking by pulling at it gently.

Step 3 — Battery

Remove the battery from the deviceby pulling up on the battery edge.

Step 4 — Removing the Memory Card:

Remove the memory card from thedevice by gently sliding it out of itsholder.

Step 5 — Removing the Back Housing

Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the seven screws from the back of the phone.

Using a prying tool, separate the back housing from the silver trim around the phone.

While separating the two pieces, most of the buttons (including the power button) will fall out. Besure to keep track of the buttons and use them for reassembly.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Step 6 — Removing the Power Button

Using the tweezers carefully remove the power button.

At this point, you can replace the button with a new one.
