1. Am I eligible for Section 8 Housing Assistance? Eligibility will be determined after you have been selected from the Waiting List during the eligibility appointment. Families must not exceed the following annual income limits by household size:

2. When can I apply?

Online applications will be available May 15, 2012 at: http://saha.apply4housing.com or at www.saha.org. Applications can be completed on-line at any time, from any computer with Internet access.

3. Will placement on the list be based on a first-come, first-served basis?

Applicants do not need to rush to apply on May 15, as all applications received through midnight on June 1, 2012 will be entered into a computerized lottery system to establish each applicant’s place on the waiting list. After June 1, 2012, applicants may still apply and will be placed on the waiting list according to local preferences and the next sequential number.

4. Where do I get an application?

The online application can be accessed from any computer with Internet capability. SAHA has partnered with the San Antonio Public Library system to offer applicants free access to personal computers at any of its 26 local branches throughout the City. Additional Library staff will be on-site at select library locations to provide one-on-one assistance for applicants. Additional partners also offer access to personal computers (see attached) and a list is also available at www.saha.org. Assistance will be made available for persons with special needs by calling 1-877-550-1109.

5. Where is the closest library to apply?

To locate the nearest San Antonio Public Library, call 210-207-2500 (or see the attached location information).

6. How do I know my application has been received? A confirmation number will be issued once your application has been submitted. It is recommended that applicants note or print the confirmation number before signing off the computer.

7. How do I check the status of my application? Any time after June 30, 2012, applicants will have access to the applicant portal to check the status and make any necessary changes to the address, family members and phone numbers.

8. If I need assistance with my application, who do I contact?

9. Do I need a library card to use the Public Library computers?

No, there are computers designated at the local libraries for this purpose.

10. Can I get an application from the SAHA office?

Applications are online and accessible from any computer with Internet capability. If you are a person with special needs and require assistance with the application, you can call 1-877-550-1109.

11. When will I receive a voucher?

Applicants should expect to remain on the waiting list approximately 3-5 years before housing assistance will be available.

12. When will the list be closed?

The waiting will remain open indefinitely after the initial lottery on June 1, 2012.
