TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITY After the successful holding of our 31st General Assembly, the Officers and Employees of San Jose Koop went to Aureo Beach Resort in La Union, for their annual Team Building Activities. This activity is very important for an organization as these will show how people of different background, different personalities as well as experiences and ambitions can cooperate with one another to attain a common goal. The active participation of all officers and employees in various sports and other activities clearly demonstrate that being together in work and play makes us stronger.

DEVELOPMENT OF MANAGERS/LEADERS

As we are now expanding rapidly our cooperative by opening branches in the different parts of our locality it is my feeling that we must start developing people who will someday be promoted as Officers and Managers. Vacancies for higher positions will surely arise when we expand our operations. By targeting P3 Billion Assets by 2020, we will manage our bigger resources so this early we shall start developing managers and leaders in our organization. Author John Maxwell wrote in his book entitled “ The Gift of Leadership”, where he mentioned about the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, these will surely help aspiring managers and leaders to be successful in their job once they promoted.

1. The Law of the Lead – leadership ability determines a person’s level of effectiveness.2. The Law of Influence – the true measure of leadership is influence nothing more

nothing less.3. The Law of Process – leadership develops daily, not in a day.4. The Law of Navigation – anyone can steer the ship, but it takes a header to Chart

the Course.5. The Law of Hutton – when the real leader speaks, people listen.6. The Law of Solid Ground – trust is the foundation of leadership.7. The Law of Respect – people naturally follow leaders stronger than themselves.8. The Law of Intuition – leaders evaluate everything with a leadership bias.9. The Law of Magnetism – who you are is who you attract.10. The law of Connection – leaders touch a heart before they ask for a hand.11. The Law of Inner Circle – a leader potential is determined by those closest to him.12. The Law of Empowerment – only secure leader give power to others.13. The Law of Reproduction – it takes a leader to raise up a leader.14. The Law of Buy In – people buy into the leaders, then the vision. 15. The Law of Victory – leaders find a way for the team to win.16. The Law of Big Mo – momentum is a leader’s best friend. 17. The Law of Priorities – leaders understand that activity is not necessarily means

accomplishment.18. The Law of Sacrifice – a leader must give up to go up.19. The Law of Timing – when to lead is as important as what you to and where to go.20. The Law of Explosive Growth – to add growth, lead followers to multiply leaders.21. The Law of Legacy – a leader’s lasting value is measured by succession.

Trainers Training on Business Development Services for Credit Unions

regular aCtivities

To provide best business opportunities for San Jose Koop members, we attended the Trainer’s Training on Business Development Services for Credit Unions together with cooperative leaders from 30 other participating countries which was organized by the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) and sponsored by the National Credit Union Federation of Korea (NACUFOK) held last March 31 – April 6, 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand.

This workshop merely focuses on the promotion and support to members’ businesses particularly the unemployed women and youth as it plays an important role in community development, economic growth and poverty elimination. Also, this is in response to 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development outlining an ambitious vision for a better world. These 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be the action to wipe out poverty, fight inequality and injustice and tackle climate change around the world over the next fifteen years.

“Cooperatives Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals” was the theme adopted by the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) for the 2016 International Co-operative Day. ICA recognizes that cooperatives have a unique role to play in realizing the UN’s goals, as they contribute a sustainable growth, social development and environmental responsibility.

One of the commitments of San Jose Koop in business development is to empower and creating a business mindset to members while providing them their necessities to develop and expand their business ideas. We have been imparting to our members that the most important thing to gain success are life values — a dedication, hardwork, perseverance and a desire to succeed with the help and guide of San Jose Koop.

Malungkot man na isipin ngunit kailangan

nating pagtuunan ng pansin.

We are lucky that San Jose Koop was granted with 3 staff representatives in a Cultural Immersion/Educational Tour in Seoul and in Jeju Island, South Korea last May 27 to June 1, 2019. The activity was sponsored by the National Credit Union Federation of Korea (NACUFOK). We were blessed to have a lot of learnings and new experiences and ideas that can be used or adopted into our Filipino and cooperative way of life.

Many thanks to Nacufok, PFCCO and San Jose Koop for this opportunity of learning and experience.

Last April 30, 2019, San Jose Koop conducted a Clean-up Drive activity participated by the officers and employees as part of promoting and giving worthiness to our environment. This was not the first time as it is an annual activity of our cooperative to maintain the cleanliness of the community.

There were five groups assigned to different streets within Poblacion 1 and each group has a complete cleaning materials to be used. During the activity, I have observed pile of garbages and trashes such as plastics, cigarette butts and non-recycable wastes in every corner of the areas. It was really frustrating that we have been slowly failing to take care of our mother nature. As they carry the garbage bags, it has come to my mind that if these wastes were not properly disposed, it can cause illness and diseases to humans because a clean place is a safe place. After the trashbags were all collected, I felt somehow satisfied and happy, because it was also another accomplishment for us.

Despite this condition, San Jose Koop is promoting Sustainable Development Goals to, atleast, lessen the environmental problems that may occur in the future. As Margaret Mead quotes, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” We can combat environmental issues through this activity. I believe that the answer is in our own hands and if we work as one, we can achieve something good especially for the environment of the community.

Therefore, let us be responsible to our own litters at homes and even in public places. May this activity be an eye opener and example to everyone that having a clean environment is essential. To make this possible, I encourage everyone to be part of this advocacy as we share the same set of goals and commitment to the world we live

By: Gisselle Bautista

Another year has been add up to the success stories of San Jose Koop. Held last May 14, 2019, San Jose del Monte Savings and Credit Cooperative celebrated its 32nd anniversary thanksgiving mass at San Jose Koop’s Activity Area.

As the celebration went on, San Jose Koop gave its warmest gratitude and thanksgiving to the Lord by a mass. Led by Fr. Arvin Jimenez of St. Joseph the Worker parish Church, together with San Jose Koop’s officers, committees, management, staffs and guests, they gave thanks for the unending blessings and faithfulness of the Lord throughout the year.

San Jose Koop showed to every members that they are not restricted by social, political, or religious discrimination instead they are fueled by the willingness of each members to shoulder their responsibilities. Once again, they proved that they will commit themselves to work, to cooperate for each and everyone to be prosperous.

Remarked by our Pres. Rodrigo Duterte on his speech on his speech on 103rd Anniversary of Cooperative Movement in the Philippines. “As we mark this milestone may our cooperatives continue to demonstrate the time-honoured, the spirit of “BAYANIHAN” by promoting a deeper sense of solidarity cooperation among your members and beneficiaries”. May we continue to grow and provide each member needs.

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us, establish the works of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands.”Psalm 90:17

When someone we love suffers from illness, our heart aches and long to relieved our dear one of his suffering. This is the same feeling that San Jose Koop want to show among its members. In a very special and personal way thru Medical & Dental Mission, this alleviation of pain will make our heart ache no more. Our Tungko Satellite Office has been the nurturing center of our cooperative. Last May 17, 2019 Saturday, together with some doctors (who are also members of the cooperative) devotes some of their precious time, talent and treasure to help our fellow members. The pain and stress of our members upon entering brought about by the sickness turn into smiles as they go out. After they

consulted the doctors and understanding the things on their sickness with some medicines on hand, a wonderful day was registered in their minds. Afterall, those smiles and meaningful gratitude were the mark of successful task done. Special thanks to the doctors who join and make this Medical & Dental Mission possible: Rey Pasco, DMD., Gemma Cruz, DMD. Agnes de Leon, DMD., Cherry Lyn Legaspi, MD., Arlize Manicad, MD.

Team Building 20 9San Jose Koop firmly believes that a deep connection among its employees and officers are essential for the success of its operations. It believes that its personnel must develop the ability to build effective and united teams to positively impact its operation. It is for this reason that on April 8 to 9 this year, San Jose Koop conducted a team building to instill a good rapport among its employees and officers, which was held at Aureo Hotels and Resort in San Fernando, La Union.

This two-day open affair aimed to make San Jose Koop employees and officers spend time and share experiences together to get to know more about one another. The activities included playing games, eating and socializing. Mr. Richard Avena, a board member, Mrs. Rasel Sta. Maria and Mr. Morris Brodith, employees, facilitated the playing of games. It consisted games that forced the players to carry out strategic plans and communicate effectively to win, like “Carrying the Message”, “Group Paper Dance” and “Copy-Cut”. Employees and officers also eat together

in buffet style meals; and during the peak time of the night, they shared joy and laughter with their own funny stories which in effect solidified their relationships with one another.

San Jose Koop’s Team Building 2019 inspired its employees and officers, including me, to work excellently not only as individuals

but as a team. At the end of the day we all had something so important and special to take with us: THE VALUE OF WORKING AS

ONE. As a new member of San Jose Koop’s family, I, Lorie Lozano, am thrilled and honor to say that indeed, “TOGETHER WE ARE

STRONGER!”
