2.3 DOES HOLDING AN MBA DEGREE, ACCA, CPA, CA(SA) HELP WITH CLAIMING EXEMPTIONS?YES! You can either claim exemption from the 5 certificate level subjects and E1 -EnterpriseOperations at the Operational level or you can automatically gain advanced entry via the CIMAGateway Assessment (CGA) exam: On successful completion of the CGA exam, you will begranted 11 exemptions from the CIMA professional qualification (all exemptions are free) and will be awarded the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting. The CIMA Professional syllabus has been updated for 2015. At each Professional level

there are now three Objective Tests (e.g. E1, P1, F1) followed by an Integrated CaseStudy. You must progress by level in the order shown in the diagram to the left. Toprogress to the next level you must have passed all 3 Objective Tests and the IntegratedCase Study from the lower level. The 3 Objective Tests within each level can be taken inany order, but must be passed before attempting the Integrated Case Study for that level.

OBJECTIVE TESTS: The 9 technical exams (E1, E2, E3, P1, P2, P3, F1, F2, F3)will each consist of 90 minute 'Objective Tests' taken on a computer. These will beavailable all year around, starting from January 2015. These exams are computer markedso results will be available shortly after the exam. Objective Tests use a combination ofmultiple choice, data entry, fill in the gaps and drag/drop style questions. Questions willbe selected randomly and will cover all of the learning outcomes within the syllabus.

INTEGRATED CASE STUDY: There will now be a case study at each level -Operational, Management and Strategic. These 3 hour computer exams will cover thesyllabus from all 3 pillars within the level you are sitting. There will be four fixed examsittings a year - February, May, September and November. These exams are humanmarked and results will be available c.3-4 weeks after the exams are held. The exams willbe broken down into timed sections with tasks being set based on 'trigger' informationdelivered at various points during the exam. The previously unseen trigger information willbuild on the pre-seen material that you will receive a few weeks prior to the exam. Thequestions will be discursive, and involve minimal calculations, short answers and essays.Some tasks will also be linked.
