Hello parents, carers and friends of Sandy Beach Public School, As the term draws to a conclusion our days are still jammed pack full of learning and lots of interesting activities. Over the past fortnight students have been on camp, sailing on Winds of Joy’, participated in sporting events and we have welcomed our 2020 Kindergarten students at their first transition day. On Monday the judges of the local gardening competition came to view our fabulous veggie patch. This is a result of the hard work of Mr Guihot and his many helpers at lunchtime gardening club. Well done! Gumbaynggirr Language and Culture Camp Last week a number of selected Aboriginal students in Year 5 and 6 attended the Gumbaynggirr Language and Culture Camp held by the NSW AECG at the Coffs Adventure Centre. This excursion was cultural inspiring for the students and they met new Aboriginal Teachers, Elders and fellow students from surrounding schools. Thank you to Mrs Hearn for coordinating this event. Year 7 Excel Class Some of our Year 6 students have been working on compiling a portfolio to apply for this class at Woolgoolga High School next year. A reminder that these need to be completed by next Monday.

Year 4 Camp Thursday and Friday this week Year 4 are heading to the Port Macquarie area for their annual overnight excursion. They will be visiting various places of interest including Billabong Zoo, museum, Trial Bay Gaol and a river cruise. We hope they have a lot of fun and enjoy visiting the historic sights. Thank you to Ms Williams and Mrs Eggleston for assisting with this organisation. A reminder that the buses leave at 8.45am tomorrow.

Year 6 Camp Recently, 42 Year 6 students from at Sandy Beach Public School undertook a visit to our nation's capital Canberra. This was an amazing experience for all of the students having the opportunity to visit Parliament House, Old Parliament House and the War Memorial (along with 9 other amazing attractions). We would like to acknowledge the federal government's generous financial support (PACER Rebate) for helping make this experience affordable for all students and for their ongoing support of parliament and civics education in NSW schools. NAPLAN NAPLAN results have been sent home with students in Years 3 and 5 today

Mrs Reedy is continuing to be on the mend after her operation and will return to Class 2 Red at the beginning of Term 4. Thank you to Mrs Riches for stepping in so competently this term to teach this class. 2 Red Assembly item will be postponed until Term 4. Also at the beginning of the term, Mrs Patterson will be Relieving Principal while I am on leave. Mrs Stone will be teaching K Lime over these 8 days. Mrs Wood will be the Relieving Assistant Principal for Early Stage 1 during this time. We wish everyone a happy holiday when it arrives.
