In·tro·spective FROM THE PASTOR It is always difficult to lose

a staff person, especially

a er working with him or

her for more than four

years. Not only do you get

to know the individual’s

talents and heart, but you

also build a las ng friend‐

ship with that person. This

being said, it was difficult

to tell Liz Saunders that

she “could” re re, but I did

and wished her well. My

fear was that we would be

unable to find someone

who was as good a “face”

for the office as Liz had

been. The Lord supplied

that need in Nanci Maples.

Nanci fits perfectly with

our staff, from personality

to ability; not to say, that

she keeps a bowl of candy

on her desk to test my will‐

power (it’s chocolate).

Jeannie walked by Nanci’s

desk last Wednesday night

and said, “”I can see that

Nanci may be a problem,”

as she reached to get a cou‐

ple pieces of candy. We are

happy and blessed to have

Nanci join us at SPBC and

invite all of you to stop by

the office when you have

me and introduce yourself

to her. I know you will like

her!

I hope you are making plans

to join us in our four‐weeks

of home groups through the

month of July. We will use

the book by Phil Robertson,

Happy, Happy, Happy as a

guide for our discussions. If

you are not familiar with

him, he is the patriarch on

the hit television program

Duck Dynasty. He is a

strong Chris an with a

great sense of humor and a

down‐to‐earth disposi on.

Home groups are not only a

comfortable way to discuss

spiritual issues, but also a

great way to establish and

strengthen rela onships.

I wish to thank the deacons,

especially Sam Hill and Joe

Ballew, for the work and

organiza on done to honor

our widows and widowers.

This banquet is a token of

our apprecia on to and

love for these people who

are not just a part of the

church, but part of our fam‐

AWANA REPORT

Our AWANA year has come

to and end. We have been

blessed by having such won‐

derful volunteers working

with each of our groups. We

had a total of 93 children

enrolled in AWANA. Our

final average for a endance

for the year was 64. May

22nd was our last night of

AWANA for this school

year. We ended the night

with our Awards Program.

We met in the Fellowship

Hall for our Awards with a

fellowship a erwards. A

good me was had by all.

I would like to thank all of

the AWANA workers and all

of you who have worked

and prayed for this pro‐

gram. God has blessed us

through your hard work and

prayers.

SUMMER CAMP

As you are reading this,

odds are I and 31 other stu‐

dents and adults are at sum‐

mer camp in Orange Beach,

Alabama. All 32 of us are

worshiping with 1800 other

students—growing our rela‐

onship with God and each

other. Pray for us as we will

be away June 1st through

5th.

RISING 7TH GRADERS

All rising 7th graders are

now invited to par cipate in

all youth ac vi es. The only

excep on is Sunday School

— which will promote later

in the summer.
