Police said two persons were injured after their motor- bike was hit by a car which was without number near a petrol pump on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway in Barnoti area near here. However the car fled after the accident leaving the two youth in pool of blood. The injured identified as Parshotam Dass, 45, alias Papi S/o Bishan Dass of Narote Pathankote and Ram Kumar 23, S/o Pritam also a resident of Narote in Pathankote, Punjab. The duo was shifted by the local people to Kathua hos- pital where Parshotam suc- cumbed to his injuries and Ram Kumar is still under treatment. The Kathua police has reg- istered a case under relevant Sections of the law in this regard and started a man hunt for the car and its driver who is evading arrest. In another case one motor cyclist was injured seriously after his bike was hit by an auto bearing number JK08 B21226 at Hatli More near here oppo- site to a hotel. The injured has been identified as Rohit S/o Haresh of Barnoti. He received multiple injuries and was taken to Amritsar in Punjab by his family for treatment. The auto driver has been identified as Divinder. The motor cyclist was on way from Barnoti to Lakhanpur. Hatli Morh Police has regis- tered a case in this regard. Plus 2 Lecturers oppose ban on private tuition Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 3: All J&K Plus 2 Lecturers Forum has described the ban on private tuition by Government teachers as unjustified and said that extra coaching is necessity to sharpen skills of the students. A meeting of the Forum was held today under the chairman- ship of N S Jamwal, chief advi- sor of the Forum, for discussing the issues related to Plus 2 cadre and particularly the Government decision of ban- ning private tuition. The meet observed that stu- dents belonging to far off areas, where private coaching centres are not available, the extra coaching by highly qualified and experienced Government teachers is in the interest of stu- dents so that they may compete at local and national level. The meet also discussed sev- eral other demands of the Forum, which included running pattern to the cadre, regulariza- tion of all the incharge members of the cadre, 40 percent in-serv- ice quota for college lecturers, provision of study leave for higher qualification, non-voca- tional status to the Principals, immediate release of NPS funds and discussion of BOSE related problems at proper level. President of the Forum, endorsed all demands and stressed for revocation of the Government order banning pri- vate tuition of Government teachers. The meeting was attended by Charan Dass, Anil Sharma, Dr Sushma Rani, R S Salathia, Sanjay Bhagat, Pardeep Singh, Jatinder Sethi, Subash Gupta, Mulkh Raj and others. Sangarsh for Vigilance probe into ICDS scam Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 3: There is a large scale bungling in the Anganwari Centers working under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and vigilance probe is necessary to unearth it. This was stated by Balvinder Singh, Convener, Sangarsh RTI Movement during a press con- ference here today. He shared the list of pregnant ladies of few Anganwari Centers, received from the PIO in the office Director Social Welfare Jammu along with the date of their delivery and place of birth of the child of each pregnant lady. As per the list provided by the PIO in the office of the Director Social Welfare, SMGS Hospital showed 58 out of 68 as fake deliveries, whereas Government Hospital Sarwal showed two out of three as fake deliveries. Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar also showed 90 per cent as fake deliveries, he added. "There is major scam in the Anganwari centers regarding distribution of ration. Anganwari center namely Gurha Keran Lane-9, shows only 8 beneficiaries, AWC Kamal Nagar Keran "A" shows only 8 beneficiaries, AWC TRT Nagrota Zone "B" shows 10 beneficiaries only and AWC Pamposh Colony Sec-1 Janipur shows 35 beneficiaries. As per documents, 350 kgs rice, 100 kgs moongi, 100 kgs channa, 50 kgs sugar and 40 kgs suji to all the above mentioned four Anganwari centers. As per the official data of the State Government there are 29599 Anganwari centers having 10,33,197 souls as beneficiaries. The numbers of Anganwari shown by the Department are correct but the number of bene- ficiaries shown are totally fake as there are not more than 4 lakh beneficiaries only", he added. Singh urged upon the Chief Minister of the State and Minister for Social Welfare, Bali Bhagat to kindly shelve the plan of opening up of 3316 new "On Demand" Anganwari centers. He also urged them to wind up all those Anganwari Centers which are having meager enroll- ment and club those AWCs in the adjoining ones instead of opening up of new centers. He also urged them to take appropriate action by handing over one of the big scam in ICDS in the State to the Vigilance Organization. If the Government failed to initiate any probe in the scam, then PIL will be filed in the High Court of J&K, he added. Among others present were Manmohan Singh, Ayaz Khan, Mahesh Kotwal, Sharanjit Singh, Jasbir Singh, etc. 101 kanal forest land retrieved Excelsior Correspondent NOWSHERA, Nov 3: A team of Forest officials headed by DFO Nowshera, Dr Arshdeep Singh, retrieved about 101 kanals of Forest land from the possession of encroachers in Nowshera Forest Division. In Sunderbani Range of this Division, the operation was led by Range Officer Vinod Sharma. Accompanied by field Staff, the RO managed to retrieve 25 kanals of Forest land from the occupation of three encroachers in Compartment No. 31/B/D falling in Channi area of Sunderbani Range. In yet another operation, led by Forester Yash Paul, the Forest team also retrieved near- ly 76 Kanals of forest land from compartment No. 40/D & 47/ D of Thandapani area of Sunderbani Forest Range. The operation was coordi- nated by the Conservator of Forests, West Circle, Rajouri Sameer Bharti. A warning has also been issued by the Forest Department to the persons involved against any such attempt in future. Further, the DFO Nowshera has ordered the repair of fencing of retrieved area to prevent from being encroached again in future. In the workshop, Prof Himanshu Rai, Dean MISB Bocconi, Mumbai and Professor of IIM Lucknow, acted as the key resource person. They interacted with the students, scholars and faculty to discuss the associations for business professionals involved in strate- gy and strategic planning. While discussing the impor- tance of Human interaction in management, Prof Rai, who is an expert in negotiation man- agement, said that the most essential aspect of handling con- flict is through developing nego- tiation abilities. Four held with stake money Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 3: Akhnoor police arrested four gamblers along with Rs 6360 stake money and playing cards from Sungal Morh area. As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Akhnoor police sta- tion conducted raid in Sungal Morh area and nabbed four gamblers along with Rs 6360 stake money and playing cards. Youth killed after hit by train Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 3: A youth was killed this morning on the spot when the scooty he was going on was hit by a train in Bajalta area of city outskirts while he was crossing the rail- way track. According to a police spokesperson, Deepak Choudhary (25) son of Ramesh Choudhary, a resident of Khour in Akhnoor Tehsil of Jammu district (at present living in Toph Sharkhania area of city outskirts), was crossing the rail- way track riding on his scooty bearing registration No JK02BG-8139 at Bajalta when he came in contact with AC Special Train, which was on its way from Jammu to Katra. In the mishap, the youth was killed on the spot. His body was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after conducting autopsy it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites. A case in this connection has been registered at police station GRP Jammu and further inves- tigations are underway. New born baby dies, relatives protest Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Nov 3: A new born baby today died at District Hospital Baramulla in north Kashmir, triggering protests. Reports said a pregnant lady was referred to Baramulla Hospital from Public Health Centre (PHC) Sheeri in the dis- trict after she developed com- plications. The relatives of the lady said that she was operated upon by a female doctor and she gave birth to a baby. "However the baby died instantly due to med- ical negligence," they alleged. Relatives further alleged that the she was not referred on time from PHC Sheeri. The death of the new born triggered protests by relatives of the lady. They were demanding action against the doctor and paramedical staff involved in the delivery surgery. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla Bashir Ahmad Chalko told Excelsior that there was no negligence on their part. "The baby didn't die of medical negligence," he said, adding that there were already complications. 30 samples of food items lifted Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 3: During the ongoing festival season, the Inspectorate staff of Drugs & Food Control Organization (DFCO), Food Safety Division Jammu, lifted 30 samples of dif- ferent food items. These items include Atta Dheru, Atta Sangara, Finniya, Katlamas, Milk and Milk prod- ucts, etc, which are commonly consumed during the Navratras and festivals. USTA strongly condemned the attitude of educational authorities at the helm of affairs towards the RIS teachers for not regularizing their services after five years and issuing order for verification time and again to delay the process of regulariza- tion. They have stressed upon the State Government to release salaries of all categories of all categories of teachers before Deepawali, as also release of pending mid day meal charges. Truck cleaner electrocuted Excelsior Correspondent UDHAMPUR, Nov 3: A youth was electrocuted when he came in contact with a live wire while standing on a moving truck. The deceased, identified as Wasim Ahmad Dar (31), son of Rasool Dar of Handwara, Kupwara, was working as cleaner with the truck PB07N/7741, on which he was standing. The truck was on way from Punjab to Kashmir when the mishap took place near Dhar Road Round Domail. The victim was rushed to the District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead. Later, dead body of the deceased was handed over after postmortem. A case in this regard was also registered at Round Domail Police Post. Electronic items gutted Excelsior Correspondent REASI, Nov 3: Electronic items and furniture worth more Rs 2 lakh were reduced to ashes as a major fire broke out in `Shiva Electronic', a shop located adjoining Katra-Reasi road, here today. Cause of fire was stated to be some short circuit in an inverter at the shop. Due to sudden fire, all inverters and some other electronics items were burnt with the loss esti- mated between Rs 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh. The shop is owned by one Bablu of Reasi. He was repair- ing an inverter, when a blast took place in its battery due to short circuit, resulting into fire. Bablu managed to escape himself even as all the items were burnt in the fire. The blazes were controlled by Fire Department officials and Police with the help of locals. Man held with illicit liquor pouches Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 3: A man was arrested along with 47 pouches of illicit liquor from Mishriwala area, falling under the jurisdic- tion of Kana Chack police sta- tion. As per police sources, police team from Kana Chack police station intercepted a pedestrian on suspicious grounds near Mishriwala. During checking, police recovered 47 pouches of illicit liquor from the possession of the man and arrested him on the spot. The accused has been identi- fied as Rahul Sharma, son of Rajinder Sharma, a resident of Paloura. As per police sources, police constable Yasir Firdous Giri has been arrested for assaulting Sub Inspector (SI) Sikandar while he was performing his duty here today. Giri, the son of a leader of BJP's Muslim Morcha, was trav- eling on his motorcycle when he was stopped by policemen for traffic violation near Dak Bungalow in Kishtwar. He was asked by traffic cops to show valid documents of the vehicle, but Giri, instead of cooperating, entered into a ver- bal dual with policemen and later assaulted the SI. Deputy SP (Operations) Kishtwar Irshad Ahangar, who was passing through the area, stopped his vehicle after wit- nessing assembly of people and hearing noise. He ordered Giri's immediate arrest beside seizure of his vehicle. A FIR was lodged against him at police station Kishtwar and the matter was brought to the notice of Commandant IRP 6th Battalion about the miscon- duct of the erring police consta- ble, the police officer said. Later, the cop got bail from a Court. When contacted, SSP Kishtwar, Sandeep Wazir con- firmed the incident. Sex racket busted in Kathua Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 3: Over ten people were detained as police today busted a sex racket being run in a hotel on Jammu - Pathankote National Highway in Kathua. "Acting on a tip-off, police party this afternoon conducted a raid in a hotel Rattan Palace at Hatli Morh near here ," police sources said. They said the racket was being operated since long while after number of complaints lodged by unknown callers, a raid was conducted by a police Party led by SHO Women Cell, Kathua Sanjeevani Jyoti. More than ten people including girls, have been detained and the matter is being investigated," police added. Giving details SHO Sanjeevani Jyoti said that the police have received com- plaints since a long time that a sex racket is being run in the Hotel and today they raided the hotel and detained three girls and seven boys. The police has put them on sustained interro- gation to get more leads about the sex racket being run in the hotel and lay hands on its king pin. She said the investigation is going on and police is investi- gating the role of hotel owner in the racket. She said it appears that the girls are not the habitu- al but they have been dragged by some one and police is investigating every angle to reach out to culprits so that they can be punished under law of the land. JAMMU, Nov 3: Akhnoorpolice arrested four gamblersalong with Rs 6360 stakemoney and playing cards fromSungal Morh area.

As per police sources, onspecific information, policeteam from Akhnoor police sta-tion conducted raid in SungalMorh area and nabbed fourgamblers along with Rs 6360stake money and playingcards.

The accused have beenidentified as Yusuf, son ofRiyaz, Ajay Massi, son ofThomas Massi and Dimple,son of Afran Massi, trio resi-dents of Kashmiri Mohallah,Ward Number 1, Akhnoor andJohny, son of Yunus Maasi, aresident of Mishriwala.

A case under Gambling Acthas been registered at Akhnoorpolice station and investiga-tion started.

Youth killedafter hit by train

JAMMU, Nov 3: A youthwas killed this morning on thespot when the scooty he wasgoing on was hit by a train inBajalta area of city outskirtswhile he was crossing the rail-way track.

According to a policespokesperson, DeepakChoudhary (25) son of RameshChoudhary, a resident of Khourin Akhnoor Tehsil of Jammudistrict (at present living inToph Sharkhania area of cityoutskirts), was crossing the rail-way track riding on his scootybearing registration NoJK02BG-8139 at Bajalta whenhe came in contact with ACSpecial Train, which was on itsway from Jammu to Katra.

In the mishap, the youth waskilled on the spot. His body wasshifted to Government MedicalCollege and Hospital, Jammu,where after conducting autopsyit was handed over to its legalheirs for last rites.

A case in this connection hasbeen registered at police stationGRP Jammu and further inves-tigations are underway.

SRINAGAR, Nov 3: A newborn baby today died at DistrictHospital Baramulla in northKashmir, triggering protests.

Reports said a pregnant ladywas referred to BaramullaHospital from Public HealthCentre (PHC) Sheeri in the dis-trict after she developed com-plications.

The relatives of the lady saidthat she was operated upon by afemale doctor and she gavebirth to a baby. "However thebaby died instantly due to med-ical negligence," they alleged.Relatives further alleged thatthe she was not referred on timefrom PHC Sheeri.

The death of the new borntriggered protests by relatives ofthe lady. They were demandingaction against the doctor andparamedical staff involved inthe delivery surgery.

Chief Medical Officer(CMO) Baramulla BashirAhmad Chalko told Excelsiorthat there was no negligence ontheir part. "The baby didn't dieof medical negligence," he said,adding that there were alreadycomplications.

30 samples offood items lifted

These items include AttaDheru, Atta Sangara, Finniya,Katlamas, Milk and Milk prod-ucts, etc, which are commonlyconsumed during the Navratrasand festivals.

The Food Safety officers,under the supervision ofAssistant Commissioner FoodSafety District Jammu (Rural),Ajeet Singh as per the directionsof Commissioner Food SafetyDivision Jammu, dispatched thesamples to Food AnalystJammu.

Objective of these inspec-tions was to ensure sanitary andhygienic conditions in thepremises of sweet shops andfood quality.

USTA strongly condemnedthe attitude of educationalauthorities at the helm of affairstowards the RIS teachers for notregularizing their services afterfive years and issuing order forverification time and again todelay the process of regulariza-tion. They have stressed uponthe State Government to releasesalaries of all categories of allcategories of teachers beforeDeepawali, as also release ofpending mid day meal charges.

The association has urged toState Government to settle thepending demands at an earliestotherwise USTA will be com-pelled to resort to agitationalpath.

Truck cleanerelectrocuted

youth was electrocuted when hecame in contact with a live wirewhile standing on a moving truck.

The deceased, identified asWasim Ahmad Dar (31), son ofRasool Dar of Handwara,Kupwara, was working ascleaner with the truckPB07N/7741, on which he wasstanding.

The truck was on way fromPunjab to Kashmir when themishap took place near DharRoad Round Domail. The victimwas rushed to the District HospitalUdhampur where doctorsdeclared him as brought dead.

Later, dead body of thedeceased was handed over afterpostmortem. A case in thisregard was also registered atRound Domail Police Post.

Electronic items gutted

REASI, Nov 3: Electronicitems and furniture worth moreRs 2 lakh were reduced toashes as a major fire broke outin `Shiva Electronic', a shoplocated adjoining Katra-Reasiroad, here today.

Cause of fire was stated tobe some short circuit in aninverter at the shop. Due tosudden fire, all inverters andsome other electronics itemswere burnt with the loss esti-mated between Rs 2 lakh to2.5 lakh.

The shop is owned by oneBablu of Reasi. He was repair-ing an inverter, when a blasttook place in its battery due toshort circuit, resulting intofire. Bablu managed to escapehimself even as all the itemswere burnt in the fire.

The blazes were controlledby Fire Department officialsand Police with the help oflocals.

As per police sources, policeteam from Kana Chack policestation intercepted a pedestrianon suspicious grounds nearMishriwala.

During checking, policerecovered 47 pouches of illicitliquor from the possession ofthe man and arrested him on thespot.

police team from Janipur policestation conducted raid inPaloura area and arrested a man,who was wanted in murder case.

The accused has been identi-fied as Rahul Sharma, son ofRajinder Sharma, a resident ofPaloura.

He was wanted in a case reg-istered on April 16, 2015 underFIR Number 78/15 underSection 302/34 RPC withJanipur police station.

Further investigation intothe case is going on.

KISHTWAR, Nov 3: Apoliceman, who is son of a localBJP leader, has been arrested forassaulting a police officer heretoday.

As per police sources, policeconstable Yasir Firdous Giri hasbeen arrested for assaulting SubInspector (SI) Sikandar while hewas performing his duty heretoday.

Giri, the son of a leader ofBJP's Muslim Morcha, was trav-eling on his motorcycle when hewas stopped by policemen fortraffic violation near DakBungalow in Kishtwar.

He was asked by traffic copsto show valid documents of thevehicle, but Giri, instead of

cooperating, entered into a ver-bal dual with policemen andlater assaulted the SI.

Deputy SP (Operations)Kishtwar Irshad Ahangar, whowas passing through the area,stopped his vehicle after wit-nessing assembly of people andhearing noise. He ordered Giri'simmediate arrest beside seizureof his vehicle.

A FIR was lodged againsthim at police station Kishtwarand the matter was brought tothe notice of Commandant IRP6th Battalion about the miscon-duct of the erring police consta-ble, the police officer said.

Later, the cop got bail from aCourt. When contacted, SSPKishtwar, Sandeep Wazir con-firmed the incident.

Sex racket busted in KathuaExcelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Nov 3: Over tenpeople were detained as policetoday busted a sex racket beingrun in a hotel on Jammu -Pathankote National Highwayin Kathua.

"Acting on a tip-off, policeparty this afternoon conducteda raid in a hotel Rattan Palace atHatli Morh near here ," policesources said.

They said the racket wasbeing operated since long whileafter number of complaintslodged by unknown callers, araid was conducted by a policeParty led by SHO Women Cell,Kathua Sanjeevani Jyoti.

More than ten peopleincluding girls, have beendetained and the matter is beinginvestigated," police added.

Giving details SHOSanjeevani Jyoti said that the

police have received com-plaints since a long time that asex racket is being run in theHotel and today they raided thehotel and detained three girlsand seven boys. The police hasput them on sustained interro-gation to get more leads aboutthe sex racket being run in thehotel and lay hands on its kingpin.

She said the investigation isgoing on and police is investi-gating the role of hotel owner inthe racket. She said it appearsthat the girls are not the habitu-al but they have been draggedby some one and police isinvestigating every angle toreach out to culprits so that theycan be punished under law ofthe land.

Meanwhile, sources saidthat the police has also detainedthe manager and one reception-ist of the hotel.
