SANSKRIT LITERARY SOCIETY

The Society remained busy throughout the year. Our

students participated in many Inter College Competitions

such as Quiz, Recitation, Speech, Chitrakarma etc.

Our Society organized three Inter Class Competitions such

as ‘Patravachan’(Paper Reading), ‘Shlokavritti’(Recitation)

and ‘Prashnamanch’(Quiz) Competitions. Our society also

organized Inter College [(‘Shlokavritti’(Recitation) and

‘Prashnamanch’(Quiz)] Competition. Following are the

dated descriptions of the events :-

24.08.2016

At the start of the session, all the teachers of Department

of Sanskrit gathered in room number 22 to discuss about

the departmental elections, upcoming events and other

activities of the department.

21.09.2016 As per the discussion of the teachers, election held amongst students in room number 24 and Harshita [(3rd

year, BA (Hons.)], Arya (3rd year BA (Prog.) and Priyanka

[(3rd year BA (Hons.)] got selected as President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. After the election, we announced about the upcoming ‘Patravachan’(Paper reading) Inter class competition to be held on 28.09.2016. We further enlightened the students about the further activities and events of the department.

28.09.2016 All the teachers and students of Department of Sanskrit assembled in LT-2 for ‘Patravachan’(Paper Reading) Inter class Competition. 9 students from 3rdyear(Hons.), 2 students from 2nd year(Hons.) , 7 students from 1st year(Hons.) and 3 students from 3rdyear B.A(Prog) Sanskrit discipline participated. Judges for the competition were Mr. Avdhesh Kumar, Ms. Anita Rani and Mr. Tarun kumar Deep. The winners of the competition are as follow:

30.09.2016 Two of our students Harshita (3rd year, Hons.) and Arya[(3rd Year BA(Prog)] went to Miranda House, University of Delhi to represent our college in ‘Shlokavritti’(Recitation) competition organized by ‘Delhi Sanskrit Academy’(Government of Delhi) and won 2nd and 5th prize for our college respectively.

19.10.2016 Another Inter class ‘Shlokavritti’(Recitation) competition was organized in LT-2. 9 students from 3rd year (Hons.) , 4 students from 2nd year(Hons.), 3 students from 1st year(Hons.) and 3 students from 3rd year B.A(Prog) participated in the competition. The judges for the



competition were Dr. Meera Sharma and Ms. Anita Rani. The winners for the competition are as follow:

25.10.2016 Two of our students Harshita(3rd year, Hons.) and Richa(2nd year, Hons.) went to Maitreyi College, University of Delhi to represent our college in ‘Vaad-Vivaad Pratiyogita' organized by ‘Delhi Sanskrit Academy’ (Government of Delhi). They both won 5th prize for our college.

05.11.2016 & 08.11.2016 We had two days special lecture on ‘Basic Computer Awareness for Sanskrit’ by Dr. Subhash Chandra (Assitant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, University Of Delhi) in LT-1 as permitted by our principal ma’am. The lecture was a great success as the students got knowledge about the usage of Sanskrit in computers and the student participated enthusiastically throughout the lecture.

21.12.2016-31.12.2016 During winter vacation, we organized 'Sanskrit Sambhashan Shivir'(Sanskrit speaking skill course) in LT-1. The number of participants were 70 including students of other colleges. Students were also given the certificate for their participation.

25.01.2017 A lecture on ‘Machine translation tools and techniques’ by Dr. Subhash Chandra (Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, University Of Delhi) by our department. Students and teachers from other colleges also took part in the lecture.

Harshita participated in



‘Shlokavritti’(Recitation) competition. Richa participated in ‘Bhashan Pratiyogita’ and secured 1st position. Our M.A. (Final year) students Neelu and Sheetal also represented our college in ‘Prashanmanch’(Quiz Competition).

07.02.2017 Our students Harshita(3rd year, Hons.) and Richa(2nd year, Hons.) went to Miranda House, University of Delhi to represent our college in their Inter College competition and Harshita secured 3rd position in ‘Shlokavritti’ (Recitation) competition. Our other students Priyanka Madan (3rd year, Hons.) and Ayushi (3rd year, Hons.) participated in ‘Chitrakarma’ (Drawing) competition. Our college also got ‘CHALVAIJYANTI’ trophy for attaining overall highest marks in their Inter College competition.

11.02.2017 Two of our students Priyanka (3rd year, Hons.) and Richa (2nd year, Hons.) went to represent our college in the Inter



College Competition of Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. Priyanka participated in ‘Chitrakarma’(Drawing) competition and Richa secured 3rd position in ‘Bhashan Pratiyogita’.

15.02.2017 ‘Delhi Sanskrit Academy’(Government of Delhi) organized ‘Bhashan pratiyogita’ in our college. Around 100 students marked their presence for the event. Our two students Pooja (MA Pre. Year) and Richa(2nd year, Hons.) secured 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The event was a great success as our students enthusiastically participated and volunteered the entire event. Dr. Savitri Gupta, Dr. Rajkumari Trikha and Dr. Suresh Chandra Sharma were the judges for the day. Dr. Jeetram Bhatt (Secretary, 'Delhi Sanskrit Academy', Delhi Government) also marked his presence during the event.

Two of our students Pooja (MA Prev. Year) and Richa(2nd year, Hons.) went to represent our college at St.Stephen’s college, University Of Delhi in their Inter College ‘Bhashan Pratiyogita’.

21.02.2017 Our student Ritu(3rd year, Hons.) went to Shivaji College, University of Delhi in their Inter College 'Rangoli Competition'and secured 2nd position. Richa (2nd year, Hons.) and Bhavika (2nd year, Hons.) represented our college in their Inter college ‘Prashanmanch’(Quiz) Competition also.

08.03.2017 Our Sanskrit Literary Society organized its Inter College ‘Shlokavritti’(Recitation) and ‘Prashnmanch’(Quiz) Competition. Many students came from different colleges to take part in the competition. Around 100 students gathered in LT-2 witnessing the event as it was a great success as our student participated and volunteered the event. Our student Harshita (3rd year, Hons.) secured second position in ‘Shlokavritti’(Recitation) Competition.

In this way the Sanskrit Literary Society has been participating throughout Inter and Intra College for the entire academic curriculum. The teachers and



the students have been enthusiastically working for the welfare of the society and College.
