PREPARATIONSeal the entire ornaments with the Multi-Purpose Sealer; using the glaze wash brush.

Lightly sand; wipe off with a lint-free cloth.

BASECOATING THE ORNAMENTSBasecoat the surfaces of the ornaments with a purple mixture (Payne’s Grey + Snow White 2:1) + Multi-Pur-pose Sealer; using the glaze wash brush. Allow to dry.

Apply a second coat of the purple mixture, minus the sealer.

Basecoat the side edges and back side of the orna-ments with Payne’s Grey; using the glaze wash brush, to achieve an opaque coverage.

CRACKLING EFFECTFollowing the label instructions on the Weathered Wood, apply over the purple mixture surface; using a light purple mixture (Payne’s Grey + Snow White 1:1 mixture) as the top coat. Allow to dry over-night.

Repeat the steps to complete the crackle eff ect on the other two ornaments. When dry, light mist with the matte spray.

STAMPING SNOWFLAKESPlace the small snowfl ake cluster stamp on the clear handle, pounce Snow White over the stamp; using the cosmetic wedge. Then randomly stamp snowfl akes over the surface of each ornament.

When using paint on stamps it is important that you do not overload the image. Pounce the cosmetic wedge sponge into acrylic paint and then on a clean area of the palette. When you look at the bottom of the sponge it should be covered in paint, but you should still be able to see the texture of the sponge. Now quickly pounce the loaded sponge over the en-tire image and stamp it on the surface; refer to photo for placement.

Re-load the sponge and stamp as needed.

When dry, lightly mist with the matte spray.

TRANSFERRING DESIGNWhen dry, transfer the designs to the surfaces; using the graph ruler. To aid in the transferring of any straight lines, drag the stylus along the ruler’s edge.

BACKGROUND PINESWith a pencil and graph ruler, transfer the center line for each pine. Work only on a couple of pines at a time. Slightly pre-dampen the surface area with clean water. This will help the paint bleed; giving the boughs a softer eff ect.

Using the 10 fi lbert, load across the chisel edge with the appropriate colors. lighter pines – Blue Mist + Snow White 1:1 darker pines – Black Green

Up on the chisel edge, slightly pull the top of the pine.

Tap horizontally from left to right for the boughs, slowly and slightly widening as you work towards the base of the pine. Allow a bit of the background to show through; so the pine doesn’t look like a triangle.

When dry, randomly repeat tapping over the boughs with the appropriate color; to deepen a few areas.

Repeat the same steps with the remaining pines. When dry, repeat the same steps with Snow White; for snow.

Refer to Image #3

BACKGROUND SHRUBSWith the appropriate size Texture brush and Evergreen, lightly dance in the shrubs behind structures. Then lightly dance with Snow White; for highlight and snow.

For the proper use of the Texture Brush, use the follow-ing method. Dampen the bristles with water to start the separation of bristles. Tap bristles into the paint on your palette, hold it perpendicular to your palette, pounce it up and down to get some of the paint off – keeping the paint sparse on the brush. Note – this brush can be used on the whole foot or just the toe.

Tap lightly on the surface, dance with the brush up and down, rolling the brush in diff erent directions in be-tween your fi ngers when it is up in the air (like dancing the twist, light on your feet). Allow some drying time in between dances so the paint sets up and you don’t end up with a globby or muddy look.

BASECOATING LIGHTHOUSEWith the appropriate size shaders, basecoat – Warm White – towers, structure walls

Cadmium Red – transfer tower lines; base red sections

Payne’s Grey – watch room on lighthouse ornament #3

DETAILING LIGHTHOUSETowers - corner load the angle with Payne’s Grey, fl oat a very wide shade down the left and right sides of the towers; to create a rounding eff ect. Mop to soften.

Using the med Texture brush ‘DRY’ and Snow White, dry brush a highlight down the center of each tower.

Lens Room – wash over the lens room areas with Camel; using the 6 shader.

Corner load the angle with Burnt Sienna, fl oat shading down the left and right sides of the lens room areas.

Corner load the angle with Snow White, fl oat a high-light across the top of each lens.

Roofs - basecoat the roofs with Snow White; using the 2 shader.

Corner load the angle with Payne’s Grey, lightly fl oat shading across the top of each roof.

Place a Snow White dip dot at the top of the roofs, for the ventilator balls.

With the 5/0 liner and Snow White, pull a line up from the ventilator balls, for the lightning rods.

With the 5/0 liner and Payne’s Grey, pull the lens room panes, roof trim lines, walkway bases and supports.

Double load the 5/0 liner with Payne’s Grey + Snow White, pull the walkway rail and supports on lighthouse ornament #3.

DETAILING STRUCTURESWalls - load the 5/0 liner with a purple mixture (Payne’s Grey + Snow White 1:1), pull the wall lines on the struc-tures.

With the 0 shader and the purple mixture, pull the wall bricks on ornament #1.

Wash over the shade side walls with the purple mixture; using the 4 shader.

Corner load the angle with the purple mixture, fl oat shading across the top of the opposite wall.

Roofs - basecoat the roofs with Snow White; using the appropriate size shaders.

Corner load the angle with Payne’s Grey, fl oat shading across the top of each roof.

With the 5/0 liner and the purple mixture, pull the side roof lines.

With the 5/0 liner and Snow White, pull a highlight stroke across the top of the side roof lines.

Windows – basecoat with Payne’s Grey; using the ap-propriate size shaders.

Corner load the angle with Snow White, fl oat a high-light across the top of each window.

With the 5/0 liner and the purple mixture, pull the win-dow panes and outline the windows.

GROUND SNOWCorner load the angle with Snow White, chisel fl oat* over the foreground areas; for snow. *chisel fl oat by corner loading the angle, blend off on your palette, lay the bristles of the brush fl at on the surface, chisel edge up. Push the paint on the bristles from left to right in a scratching motion, allowing the bristles to pull a broken line that is slightly fl oated.

FOREGROUND FOLIAGEWith the sm Texture brush and Evergreen, dance in the ground foliage; refer to photo for placements.

Repeat step with Snow White, randomly dance across the top of the foliage; for snow and separation.

Corner load the angle with Snow White, randomly chisel fl oat* under the ground foliage; to brighten.

SANTA’S SLEIGH STENCILWith the Santa’s Sleigh stencil, Payne’s Grey and the med stencil brush, stencil across the top of each orna-ment with portions of the stencil; refer to photo for placements.

Position the stencil, secure with the Frog Tape or hold with your fi ngers.

Load the med stencil brush with a bit of Payne’s Grey, swirl the brush on a blue shop towel to remove excess.

Apply color in a circular motion one direction and then in a circular motion in the other direction (changing directions frequently) over the stencil.

Fill in some of the design fully and leave other areas incomplete.

When completed, this application should have a slight distressed appearance.

If it is too solid or perfect, simply use a moist piece of the blue shop towel with a little Faux Glazing Medium, to gently rub away some of the excess color.

Carefully remove stencil by holding one end with your fi ngers and lifting the opposite end. Clean stencil and brush immediately; using the DecoMagic Cleaner.

CHRISTMAS WREATHSWith the sm Texture brush and Hauser Dark Green, dance the wreaths in on each tower. With the sm Texture brush and Blue Mist, very lightly and randomly dance highlight on the wreaths. Double load the 5/0 liner with Cadmium Red + Snow White, pull the bows on each wreath.

FINISHING TOUCHESFollow the stamping steps in step 4, randomly stamp snowfl akes on the back side of each ornament in two colors – fi rst a purple mixture (Payne’s Grey + Snow White 1:1) and then with Snow White.

Refer to Image #4

FINISHINGTo protect your painted pieces, varnish the entire orna-ments with the DuraClear Matte Varnish; using the Oval Wash Combo brush.

This brush doesn’t leave any brushstroke marks after the varnish has dried.

Cut the silver ribbon into 3 – 6” pieces, thread through the hole at the top of each ornament and tie off .
