Chaplain’s Message
Fellow Knights,
I am writ-
ing this message on
Monday February
27, 2012. Four days
from today, on
March 2, 2012 the
Catholic Family
Services, here in
Regina, will hold its annual Gala fund
raising event at the Delta Hotel.
As a token of appreciation to
the Santo Nino Council, Blessed Sacra-
ment Parish has invited members of
our council and their spouses to attend
the banquet as guests of the parish.
Needless to say Blessed Sac-
rament Parish feels very indebted to
the Santo Nino Council for its gener-
ous involvement in liturgical and other
activities during the past year.
On the fourth Sunday of every
month members of our council have
fulfilled virtually all the Liturgical
roles at the 10:00 A.M. mass, and you
have served the mass along with your
sons. What a wonderful example you
are passing on to your sons.
For several years now mem-
bers of the Santo Nino Council have
represented the Twelve Apostles at the
mass of the Last Supper and had your
feet washed.
And for many years now
members of our council have erected
and taken down the Blessed Sacrament
Christmas outdoor crib. I always feel
that the outdoor crib offers a silent ser-
mon about the true meaning of Christ-
mas to pedestrians on Scarth Street.
Fellow Knights enjoy the
Banquet on Friday March 2, 2012. You
richly deserve it!

The Knights of Columbus are dedicated to the four pillars of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism
On February 18, the Santo Nino
Council honored the ladies who have
been the inspiration that makes the coun-
cil so vibrant. The celebration was held at
the Casino Regina Telegraph Room with
a banquet and games. Black Jack, Poker,
and Roulette tables were set up for guests
to play with Casino chips.
DGK Gary Lazo was the emcee.
GK Gregg Ravasco welcomed the guests
and expressed Council’s gratitude to the
ladies for their support. Father Eusebio
Tubale said grace.
Roses were given to
each lady by her
partner.
Thanks are
due Rowena Ma-
saoay and Chelo
Ravasco for the
games, and Ferdie
and Annamae Fe-
liciano for decora-
tions. .
Father Emmett’s Birthday
Council celebrated Father Mor-
rissey’s 81st birthday on February 12
with a dinner at Tony Roma’s. About
thirty people came to wish him the best
while Council presented him with a
small gift. As usual, Father gave a feel-
good response.

First Degree Exemplification

by the Resurrection Council #13214 at Resurrection Church with
fifteen candidates from various councils. Our council had five
candidates, namely: Lucrecio Baylosis, 34; Geoffrey Franco, 28;
Antonio Plazo, 40; Gary Plazo, 37; and Anthony Repotente, 39.
The rites were conducted by the Regina Degree Team
captained by Bro. Mark Lewans. The new members were encour-
aged to proceed to the major degree exemplification to be hosted
by the Holy Family Council #10797 on Sunday March 4, 2012.
SIMBANG GABI
Council sponsored the Simbang Gabi at the Holy Child
Church last December 21 with Fr. Dan Rafael celebrating Mass.
Council provided sacristans, Eucharistic Ministers and collectors.
Simbang Gabi is a traditional mass held daily for nine days prior
to Christmas in the Philippines. After Mass, Council served re-
freshments at the parish hall.

Fundraising for Typhoon Victims
Santo Nino Council # 12415, in cooperation with the
Philippine Nurses Association of Regina, the Philippine Asso-
ciation of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Red Cross, had a
fundraising campaign for victims of Typhoon Sendong (Washi)
last December 22-31, 2011. Council manned the booth at the
Victoria Square Mall.
On January 8, 2012, more funds were raised at the
Press Box dinner called "A Steak Night for a Good
Cause". Sendong caused an untimely disaster in the North-
ern part of Mindanao island in the Philippines. A total of $
6,800.00 CAD was turned over to Tim Johnson - Public Affairs

Message from our Grand Knight
Brother Knights, We had busy and eventful recent
months. Without our hard-working officers and
members, we won’t be able to accomplish what
we did. With this, I’d like to express my heart-
felt gratitude to the following:
Thanks to all our brothers and sisters
who helped in raising funds for our fellow kaba-
bayan affected by Typhoon Sendong that landed
in the Philippines on December 17, 2011. It was
great working with PNA, the PAS and the Cana-
dian Red Cross in making this fundraising campaign a success. We
were able to raise a total amount of $6,800.00.
Thanks to our Youth Directors for organizing the basket-
ball “Free Throw” tournaments. Our participants had a great time
and would like to come back next year.
Thanks to all who made our “Ladies Night” a great suc-
cess. We are truly grateful to our ladies for their undying support in
all our activities.
And lastly, congratulations and welcome to the six new
members in our council.
As we observe the season of Lent, let us step aside from
the busyness of our daily life and find time to pray and ask for His
forgiveness. May we all build a stronger relationship with the Lord
as we prepare to celebrate His resurrection.
Gregg Ravasco
Grand Knight
Message from our District Deputy
My Brother Knights,
Lent is once again upon us; that spe-
cial time of year when we prepare for the sor-
row of the Crucifixion and the celebration of
the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. We have
been given the greatest gift possible, as our
Father sacrificed His only Son, Mary her only
loving Son, and our Saviour himself Jesus,
who freely gave of his own life so that we might share in their
eternal glory. We Knights, have a solemn mission and a com-
mitment to spread this good news to all and to especially ac-
knowledge this most holy time with our family and friends.
Your Council continues to show great growth in new
membership and I am so pleased to hear of the number of can-
didates attending the Major Degree on March 4th at Holy Fam-
ily Parish. I apologize for missing your meeting last Sunday,
as my wife and I were snowed in overnight in Denver trying to
get home from vacation. My term as District Deputy is
quickly coming to an end this June, and I am so proud of the
accomplishments of your Council during my term; it has been
an honour to serve you and my wife and I have made many
new lifetime friends. We have much yet to finish, so no slow-
ing down yet! Take care and a Blessed and Happy Easter to
each of you and your families. Kevin Roche

Lent is Here
The Lenten season is upon us and we remem-ber our Saviour Jesus Christ carrying the cross signify-ing the sins of the world and dying for all mankind so that we will be purified. We, in turn should take this time to think of how we can also “carry our own crosses”, and of ways to help us purify ourselves.
As members of a very active council, let me suggest some ways that may help. I recommend par-ticipating in the discussions during our regular council meeting; volunteering to help at the monthly bingo; assisting in the pancake breakfast run by the council at St. Mary’s or the Soup day at the Marian Centre. Let your name stand for one of the council positions either an elective position or an appointive one, Suffice it to say that just as you cannot be a catholic without prac-ticing your faith, so also should you consider your ac-tivity with our council as mandatory.
What could be more fulfilling than to be an es-sential part of the activities that make our council one that others admire and look up to.
