The cuisine of São Paulo is a blend between European, Indian, and African ingredients, including palm oil. In this region of Brazil, food is based on the use of ingredients such as corn and pork, and one of its most typical dishes is "virado á paulista", with "tutu de feijão" (pasta of cooked beans and cassava flour), pork chops, sausages, fried bananas, and eggs, served with a garnish of vegetables.

Currency• Brazilian currency is called Real (pronounced 'rey-al') and the plural is Reas (pronounced 'ray-

eyes'). Banknotes come in: 1, 5, 10, 50, and 100, while coins can be found in: 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 Reas. It can be very difficult to come across small banknotes and change in Brazil so you should try to hold on to them for small purchases and use larger bills in hotels and major restaurants where they will have change for you.
