Globalization Product Management –
rollin & prioritization process with local user group SAPSA
Proactive roll-in of legal requirements/changes
Usage of the community to align on legal requirements to ensure a standard solution serving all customers
Joint prioritization of legal requirements within the user group –
– all requirements are gathered and kept up to date in a joint document (SAPSA HCM-chairman and SAP LPM)
– Status of requirements are walked through and discussed (SAPSA meetings twice a year)
– Requirements are prioritized (all companies belonging to SAPSA)
Close cooperation during the development cycle
– For the most important requirements LPM writes DRQs, key customers are involved in DRQ and Dev-Cycle
– LPM align with PO – possible work-arounds are evaluated
– PO makes estimates
Decision will then be made based on effort, validity / benefit for all customers and development capacity
Roll-out of legal functions
Provide information and documentation to SAP customers (SAP Notes, SAPSA-com)
Ensure verification by (pilot) customer(s) similar to standard ramp-up approach

Legal Change vs. GapDefinition
To be considered a Legal Change
• It must be a new law Due date in the future, not in the past
• It must impact existing featureNot introduce a new feature
• It must require a code changeNot possible to cover via customizing or workaround
• It must be technically feasible Not destabilizing code

Not possible to workaround
Technically feasible
Gap:Due date in the future, not the past
× New requirement, substituting
something, which was not supported
in the past
