What is the situation today without SAP Global Batch
Traceability?
In case of an issue with a batch/serial number/handling unit
→no complete product genealogy tracing
of all materials purchased, consumed, manufactured, and distributed in the supply network
considering SAP and non-SAP systems.
Inability to analyze multiple tracking objects (e.g. batches/serial numbers/ handling
units) bottom up or top down in a single run
Data is inconsistent
missing data links between the tracking objects
broken links across systems
Need for a high performance system is required to handle very high data volume

Basic principle
All ERP events being
transferred to GBT are material-
document based (Goods
Movement), in which other
documents such as purchase
and process orders are
referenced.
GBT then fetches additional data
using an RFC for these
(additional documents,
referenced by the material
documents)
