FIT Global Presence
Maximize Customer Value for HANA with Speed and Agility
— “SAP HANA is a real game-changer because it is so much faster than
traditional databases - business can report on up-to-the-minute data in real
time
— “FIT was the first IT Services provider to take a SAP S/4HANA production
system live in the Americas, and since then we have helped many more
clients replicate that success.”
— Michael Heuberger – CEO & President, FIT Americas
— FIT manages business-critical applications for over 400 clients, including
several Fortune 500 companies. In order to provide exceptional service to
their customers, FIT set out to find a more flexible and cost-effective way to
fulfill customers’ growing appetite for SAP HANA instances without
compromising on service performance or quality.
FIT’s HANA Solutions on IBM Power
FIT supports the complete suite of SAP applications in its offerings portfolio, including but not limited to:
Enterprise and Resource Planning, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management, Process Orchestration, Warehouse Management, Business Warehouse, Supplier Relationship Management, all powered by SAP HANA® on IBM Power Systems
Automated provisioning allows for 10x time reduction when building new SAP HANA instances for clients. Builds can be done in 25 minutes.
Go Green: SAP HANA on IBM Power Systems cuts energy bills, saves space and reduces time spent on server management.
Easy adoption of CPU and Memory resources to actual customer demand; impossible with SAP HANA based appliances.
Platform Choice – TDI 5 implications for vHANA
TDI phase 5 of HANA will benefit in several important ways:
Increased flexibility and lower TCO: Ability to use variety of compute nodes:
— TDI Phase 5 SAP supports the Broadwell E7 processor family as well as the
Skylake processor family
— Selected IBM Power8 models (see SAP Note 2188482)
— SAP tools provides sizing projection and the hardware vendors translate results
into actual configurations
— Flexible HW sizing
Tailored customer sizing: System memory and processor sizing are fine-tuned for the specific customer workload
SAP HANA hardware partner translates the sizing results (SAPS, RAM, CPU, and disk I/O**) into customer-tailored system configurations using a wide range of CPUs
Platform Choice – TDI Phase 5: Key Benefits

SAP HANA Tailored Data Center Integration (TDI)
HANA Scale Up vs. Scale-Out
12
SAP Consolidation – HANA MCOD with IBM Power

SAP HANA on Power Value Proposition
— Next generation HANA platform that is capable to scale with growth of HANA database in “linear increments”
— Platform design provides an opportunity to convert Scale-out to Scale-up model
— Higher performance throughputs for OLTP/OLAP & simplified management
— Higher “cache per core” compared to appliances
— Hardware based virtualization with higher scalability and lower overhead
— Reduction in overall foot print driving lower TCO
— Single Power E880 frame can host multiple Prod/non-PROD virtual HANA instances
— All components of Power platform built & supported by IBM
Well defined process to migrate a scale-out HANA V1.0 DB on Intel to a single node HANA 2.0 DB on IBM POWER LE (Little Endian) using HANA backup and recover method.
— With backup/recover method, migration from x86 to POWER LE would be faster and
simpler than classical migration or SUM DMO.
— Source HANA system may be Single-DB or Multi-Tenant on SAP S/4, ERP, BE, EWM, PO,
ME/MII, Hybris, Solman and others
— HANA 2.0 on POWER runs on the Little-Endian SLES12 Operating System. HANA on Intel
is also LE
— SAP note 1642148 items 44 & 45 describes detailed procedure where DB backup from x86
HANA 1.0 SPS10 (or later) can be restored to HANA on POWER 2.0

FIT HANA deployments on IBM Power – success stories
“We are impressed by the flexibility, scalability and cost effectiveness of the SAP HANA infrastructure developed by FIT utilizing IBM Power Systems servers. When we started our greenfield project for Extended Warehouse Management with SAP Material Flow System (MFS) there was no way to do a proper sizing since the spare part assembly plant had not yet been built. Thanks to the flexibility of the FIT solution we got the development system extremely fast and were able to simulate the IoT devices to put load on the QA system. This allowed us to develop a tailor made system instead being restricted to a rigid T-shirt sized appliance.” -Neovia Logistics
“We’ve successfully moved our BW application to BW on HANA leveraging IBM Power technology. The stability we now have with HANA on Power along with the increased performance has really helped to make our business users more effective in their day to day operations. The IBM Power platform will allow us to scale our solution with no impact to our business users. Having a responsive, resilient, scalable BW solution is vitally important to us because turning data into information is paramount to making critical decisions every day for our business.” - Noel Liston, CIO Europe ARYZTA
