CIDEON Workspace: SAP PLM (7.x) easy as pie for SolidWorks users

The SAP PLM Integration for SolidWorks harmonizes perfectly with CIDEON Workspace 2013, which serves as an intuitive, central user interface and allows thorough process integration with SAP PLM.

The perfect interplay of our SolidWorks Integration with Workspace is characterized by easy operation, comprehensive functionality and state-of-the-art software technology. It greatly simplifies interactions with various system landscapes.

All authorized users have access to the originals stored in a central secure area and can therefore monitor the development process or make changes themselves, thus avoiding redundant process steps.

The integration of SAP change management makes a change history for the documents available at any time. Configurable data exchange between the SAP system and SolidWorks avoids unnecessary redundant data entry.

In this way, properties of SolidWorks files can be transferred when a document info record is created, and SAP data can be transferred to SolidWorks properties and into the headers of drawings or document data when creating materials or bills of materials.

In SAP PLM, SAP AG provides integrated manage-ment of all information arising over the life cycle of a product.

The close integration with SAP PLM makes design information available to the company at an early stage. Product lifecycle management therefore begins with the start of the design process.

SAP PLM Integration for SolidWorks and CAD Desktop from SAP make available an instrument that enables the management of all the data that accrue during the engineering process.

This results in the following benefits:

?Access to the design data is coordinated through versioning and status management such that multiple users can work on an assembly at the same time without data loss or inconsistencies (concurrent engineering).

?CheckIn and CheckOut wizards use verification mechanisms to prevent inconsistent databases and provide resolution possibilities in the event of conflicts.

?SAP object authorizations protect data from unauthorized access.

Because assemblies and drawings, including their dependent documents, are managed as structures in SAP, original files that are related can be loaded via SAP PLM Integration for CAD directly from the SAP system into SolidWorks for processing or display.

Overview of functions in SAP PLM Integration for SolidWorks

BenefitsnDirect integration of CAD in SAP PLMnAll information in one system from design to

manufacture to servicenEliminates redundant data collection and ensures

consistent release procedures throughout the company

nContinuous availability of current drawings, models and preview images for other departments, e.g. for production planning

nNo additional cost for an additional product data management system (PDM) as a result of full

i ntegration in SAP nConvenient to work with SAP directly from

SolidWorks—the designer's accustomed work environment

nComplete mapping of SolidWorks data models in SAP PLM, e.g. configurations, external references, virtual components, mirrored parts, suppressed or infrequently used parts

nAutomated generation of neutral formats (JT, STL, PDF, TIFF, etc.) possible for 3D models and drawings

nEasy installation/activation as a SolidWorks add-on application

nFlexible configuration and options for language adaptation

Text field maintenance nAutomatically via material master, document info

record, change history, classification and other information from SAP

Document management (DMS)nRoutine activities, such as creating and updating

SAP document info records, are automatednFull support of version control in the DMS and

content server for all SolidWorks originals and other design documents

nComplete integration of SAP release processes, including digital signature

Document structure functionGenerate and update SAP document structures from SolidWorks assemblies Check-in and check-out of all originals in the assembly as well as additional filesTargeted blocking of checked-out documents (other users still have read access)
