Test Acceleration & Optimization (TAO)

What is TAO?
TAO is the acronym for SAP’s Test Acceleration & Optimization. It is used to
automatically create test components, upload test components to HP Quality
Center (QC).
How does TAO fit into testing?
TAO is part of a comprehensive end-to-end business process testing solution
that accelerates testing of business processes and runs alongside QC. TAO
was created to help facilitate testing the SAP environment and to change the
testing process trends from manual testing to testing by composition.
Why use TAO?
This way of testing can reduce costs and risks associated with all system
changing events such as upgrades or interface changes. TAO helps
businesses mitigate risk and support the entire SAP application lifecycle
cost-effectively.
SAP TAO Components
TAO Agent - SAP Solution Tools Plug-in (ST-PI) installed in each SAP managed system.
Solution Manager/SAP TAO Add-on - SAP ST 200 installed in the Solution Manager system.
TAO RTL - Contains Business Process Components that has to be uploaded to QC in order to build Business Process

Connect To use TAO you need to connect to the appropriate QC project and the
SAP System that you are using.

(1) Add T-Codes
(2) Choose SAPGUI screens
(3) Inspect

Inspect will return all associated SAP screens based on the specific SAP transaction you provided it.
Add the T-Code to the Transaction list
TAO will Return all the screens associated with that particular Transaction
Select the appropriate screen and click Inspect

Automatic SAP TAO test component generation and upload to QC.
Identification of sequence for test components – UI and user actions – for subsequent test case composition.

To Create a Flow you need to perform the following:
1. Add the T-Code to the Transaction Code filed by clicking the Add Transaction button then click the Ok button.

2. Click the start button to start process flow analyzer.
3. TAO will launch SAP for you and log you to the SAP transaction you entered.

4. Go through the process manually as specified in the manual test.
5. Click the Stop the PFA button when the transaction process has been completed.
Note: Make sure you have all required data to run the transaction before you start the Process flow.

5. Once transaction process is completed TAO will create the Analysis and will return all SAP screens used to create the flow with.

6. Click the upload button.
7. You will get a message asking you if you want to upload the analysis to QC.
8. Click Yes

To verify that the upload was successful:
• In TAO
• Verify TAO status is (PFA upload completed successfully) as you see below.

• In QC
• In the test plan module under the PFA folder verify that your flow exists.
Select Test
Consolidate
Consolidate in TAO allows you to group number of tests into one test.
Select your test from the QC tree
Click on the Consolidate button

What is Consolidating?Consolidating is a process that combines scanned TAO components with the pre-built components combining them into a single transactional business component.

Consolidation occurs after the transactional components are assembled.
The screen shot depicts a list of assembled transactional components ready for consolidation.
Select the Transaction you are ready to consolidate and press the Consolidate button.

Verify they are consolidated and loaded in the correct place in QC. Business Components module under the “SAP_Full_BPs” folder.
Explain blank parameters are now gone. (Combines the blank parameters to one parameter called “Empty”)

The change Analyzer identifies affected Business Processes if there are any changes made to the SAP Solution.
Search for specific project .
Click the Change Impact Analysis button

The Business Components module
The Business Components module of QC enables you to create, manage, and automate reusable business components, including the steps that perform specific tasks in a business process.
The Test Plan module
The Test Plan module of QC is used to create the business process tests by the drag and drop method, and this module also allows the user to debug the test components as necessary.
