City OvenThe City Oven project was assigned to us in our Junior Studio class. A local pizza shop in Wexford (now known as The Oven Pizza Co.) asked La Roche College to have

students do a redesign of their space. The concept for this project was “Tuscan Villa”. By separating spaces by brick arches, adorning the ceiling with wood beams and

use of warm colors I created an inviting homelike space.

Fashion DesignerThe fashion designer project was another one assigned to us in Junior Studio class. We had to choose a fashion designer and create a chair that resembles their

personality and their design. We were then given the parameters of a building and had to create a retail/business/living space/fashion show space for the designer. The

designer I chose was Maggie Sottero, who is a designer of wedding and prom gowns. She is best known for her use of pick-ups and Swarovski crystals.

Cellular ComplexityCellular Complexity was a project that was assigned during our junior year lighting class. We were to create a residential cottage that was created and oriented in a way

that would allow the sun to provide most of the power for the space. Also, it was to have other sustainable elements included within the space.

Senior ThesisThe topic I researched for my senior thesis was the reuse of vessels. By renovating old, unused vessels and turning them into something useful such as a floating hotel,

office, restaurant etc. it can help keep vessels from being broken and wasted. I chose to recycle a vessel named the Majestic, which is part of the Gateway Clipper Fleet

in Pittsburgh, Pa. I renovated the structure to be an architectural and interior design firm’s office space that would be docked, but will still float on the Allegheny River in

Pittsburgh, Pa.
