ness’. Each day they do their best to give our children everything they

need to be safe, respectful learners.

Finally, I wish you all a happy and safe spring break! My best wishes to

you and I look forward to seeing you all again in Term 4!

Preschool News

On Tuesday 17th September, 2019, Red Room and Blue Room listened to and discussed the picture book, “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds.

This followed on from International Dot Day where Preschool was involved in a whole school simultaneous story time (Monday 16th

September, 2019. We spoke about drawing all kinds of things and reinforcing with the children that it is ok if we draw differently to

everyone else. The children were then involved in an experience involving the iPad. They coloured in their own ‘dot’ and watched it come

to life when they used the ‘Quiver’ app. It was amazing to see most of the children being involved in this experience and sharing their

amazing ‘dots’ with their teachers and friends. This experience related to the Early Years Learning Framework Outcome 5 – Children

engage with technology for fun and to make meaning.

In Term 4, Preschool will have the opportunity to go on an excursion to Woolworths; at Minto Marketplace. The children will have the

opportunity to learn about road safety as we will be walking to Woolworths as well as also being able to wear their new Hi-Vis vests.

The children will be involved in a Kids Discovery Tour where they can go behind the scenes to learn where our groceries come from and

reinforce healthy food choices to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The excursion will relate to the Early Years Learning Framework Outcome

3 – Children show an increasing awareness of healthy lifestyles and good nutrition.

Kinder News

Once again we are drawing the curtains on yet another immensely successful term of learning here at SRPS. Term 3 has been a busy

and exciting time for our fabulous kindergarten students. We have been involved in a variety of events and activities throughout the

10 weeks of learning. The highlight for kindy was certainly the excursion to Sea Life Sydney Aquarium.

On Friday 16th August we took a bus trip to Sea Life Sydney Aquarium. It was an exciting time for our students, as for some of them this

was their first ever bus ride. We explored the aquatic life at the aquarium and enjoyed the lovely weather in the city. It was a fun-filled

learning experience that kept our little learners engaged throughout the day. We returned to school with buses full of tired but excited

students who could not stop talking about the different sea-life they saw. Just for your information, sharks were the most popular sea

animals and “Baby Shark” was our song of the day. P lease check on the fo l lowing l ink to see some photos of our

excurs ions https://sarahredfe-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/gallery/sea-life-sydney-aquarium.html

Inspired by the discussions and questions following the excursion, we made our “Big Idea” focus for Term 3 and 4 all about the under-

water world. Students in kindergarten have been involved in rich learning experiences about different sea-life, and you have guessed

it… we have turned our classrooms into a “Kinder – Aquarium”. Students have done lots of amazing art, mathematics, speaking and

listening and writing activities about different sea-life that has been proudly displayed in their classroom.

We have also participated in a soccer clinic facilitated by Football Star Academy, inspiring some future soccer stars. South Sydney

Rabbitohs also ran a workshop educating our students about healthy eating and the importance of an active lifestyle.

Kindergarten students also participated in public speaking within their class. The class winners then contested in the school final, speak-

ing proudly in front of a huge audience.

Multicultural Day was the icing on the cake for Term 3. It was a day to celebrate and embrace the cultural diversity within our school.

Our awesome kindergarten students participated in the day with pride and enthusiasm. We ended the term on a high with students

presenting their project-based homework about sea animals. It was lovely to see all the amazing creativity and effort by our students,

and with this - Term 3 lived happily ever after!
