ANSWER … � � Pope Clement VII (1523�1534).�Henry VIII and
Catherine of Aragon were Roman Catholic, and the Church
forbade divorce.�Henry petitioned Pope Clement VII in Rome for
an annulment � which essentially�declares that the marriage
never existed.�Pope Clement denied an annulment for several
reasons.�Henry broke away from the Roman Catholic Church by

RESPUESTA: �Papa Clemente VII (1523�1534). Enrique VIII y
Catalina de Aragón eran Católicos Romanos, y la Iglesia prohibia
el divorcio. Henry solicitó una anulación al papa Clemente VII en
Roma, que esencialmente declara que el matrimonio nunca existió.
El papa Clemente negó la anulación por varias razones. Henry se
separó de la Iglesia Católica Romana y se llamo a sí mismo el Jefe
Supremo de la Iglesia de Inglaterra.�
