Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: Ladder play of win, 2x place and 3x show, DBL with #9 in R8. Race 8 Sar #9 Bar of Gold (15-1) Our Eyes: 4/23 Pinched back, rank, wanted to run, guided out, 4-W stalk, with a rush under a stranglehold to the lead far turn, opened up under a tight hold, public workout stretch; Acorn please. UPDATE: LOTS of hidden form, as her Acorn was tons better than it looked (slow start, spotted them several lengths, long, sustained run into contention, traffic stretch, ran on mildly late), she didn't run poorly in her two-turn debut and owns a win over the track, so in a race where there's cheap speed (#7) and no one to be scared of, why can't she run a biggie from a nice attack post at a big, big price? Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: WPS bet, DBL with #11 in R7 and #4 in R9 and worth using to kick off the 500k guaranteed late Pk4. Race 9 Sar #4 Liam's Map (6-1) Our Eyes: 9/26 East 2-P stalk, overpowered a solid West Point runner without urging, kicked clear, for fun; freakish talent. UPDATE: The note came in September, but he's done nothing since to change my stance, and his lone two-turn run was an awesome performance against house horse Valid at GP, so with tactical speed to sit just off Moreno and get first run off the turn, and you just have to love the confidence Pletcher shows by running him here. Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: Ladder play of 2x win, 3x place and 4x show, DBL with #9 in R8 and #1 in R10 and a must-use in the 500k guaranteed late Pk4. Race 10 Sar #1 Goldy Espony (5-1) (turf only) Our Eyes: Spot play has looked good in her last two when they changed her style and put her on the lead and today she catches a crew with no tactical speed, let alone actual speed, so from the hedge at a trip she just wired over, she's down the road. Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: Ladder play of 3x win, 4x place and 5x show, DBL with #4 in R9 and #7 in R11 and single in the 500k guaranteed late Pk4. *** Saratoga continued on the next page *** Follow us on Facebook at http://tiny.cc/ySs6Z and Twitter at http://tiny.cc/FBlyF .

SARATOGA Race 7 – Sar

#11 Ticking Katie (8-1) (turf only) Our Eyes: 6/17 Reserved off a crawl, wide tip, set

down midstretch, reeled in a walking Motion runner; could love U.S. racing. – Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: Ladder play of win, 2x place and

3x show, DBL with #9 in R8.

Race 8 – Sar

#9 Bar of Gold (15-1) Our Eyes: 4/23 Pinched back, rank, wanted to run,

guided out, 4-W stalk, with a rush under a stranglehold to the lead far turn, opened up under a tight hold, public workout stretch; Acorn please. – Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: WPS bet, DBL with #11 in R7 and #4 in R9 and worth using to kick off the 500k guaranteed late Pk4. Race 9 – Sar

#4 Liam's Map (6-1) Our Eyes: 9/26 East 2-P stalk, overpowered a solid

West Point runner without urging, kicked clear, for fun; freakish talent. – Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: Ladder play of 2x win, 3x place and 4x show, DBL with #9 in R8 and #1 in R10 and a must-use in the 500k guaranteed late Pk4. Race 11 – Sar

#7 Kicken Livi (12-1) (turf only) Our Eyes: 5/24 Sharp speed, kicked clear

backstretch, braced for them off far turn, re-broke, did not want to let odds-on winner by; big turf debut. UPDATE: Didn't run poorly flashing ridiculous speed going 7F's last time and now cuts back, drew perfectly and meets a crew with little speed. – Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: Ladder play of win, 2x place and 3x show, DBL with #1 in R10 and a must-use to end the 500k guaranteed late Pk4.

MONMOUTH PARK

Race 10 – Mth

#1 Oak Bluffs (9-2) (turf only) Our Eyes: 3/17 Honest inside speed, pressed by

even-money Maker, always the better, shed him with ease, drifted, for fun when straightened out. UPDATE: She just keeps rolling--and winning--so in a race with plenty of speed there's no reason to think she won't run them all down again. – Brian Nadeau Brian's Playbook: Ladder play of 2x win, 3x place and 5x show and single in the horizontal exotics.

WOODBINE Race 4 – WO

#9 Lady Diba (5-1) Our Eyes: Has run well on turf and is well-placed in

Ontario-bred races. Was 2nd

on the turf two-back and can with this with a similar effort. – Jerry Shottenkirk Jerry’s Playbook: Win, 2x place, EXBX 9 with 6-10. Race 5 – WO

#4 Where’s the Widget (5-1) Our Eyes: Was flying at the end of his latest and

finished 3rd

. He stays on the turf and should benefit from a fast pace here. – Jerry Shottenkirk Jerry’s Playbook: Win, 2x place, EXBX 4 with 5-10.

Race 9– WO

#1 Kitten Candy (6-1) Our Eyes: Usually a force at this level and comes

back to it after a failed stakes try. Lost by a neck the last time he ran at this price. – Jerry Shottenkirk Jerry’s Playbook: Win, 2x place, EXBX 1 with 2-3.

LAUREL PARK Race 5 – Lrl

#4 Velvet Tie (5-1) (turf only) Our Eyes: There are vulnerable favorites in this race

and I see ‘Velvet getting to the front and staying there against this group. Jockey Toledo is having a nice meet with 18% on wins. – DC Dino Herrera Dino's Playbook: Bet to win and place.

Race 7 – Lrl

#9 See What Happens (12-1) (turf only)

Our Eyes: I'll be surprised if we get double digit odds

here. Likes the distance (8 for 12 ITM). Back with Sheldon Russell who won with him at Pimlico. Like his longshot chances and hoping for a bit more early speed than showed in last. – DC Dino Herrera Dino's Playbook: Bet to win and place.

ARLINGTON PARK Race 3 – AP

#3 Prince Who (10-1) Our Eyes: Going to give this guy one more chance

after seeing something I really liked three starts back, and he at least made a tiny middle move last time out, hinting that he may be slowly coming around. – Brian W. Spencer Brian’s Playbook: Win, place bets.

Race 8 – AP

#10 Goldcasher (20-1) (turf or Poly) Our Eyes: Bit of trouble break, modest middle move,

one-paced stretch. Half to really good turfers Gold Former and Montana Kid, so guessing that soft effort coupled with an encouraging work pattern since should set him up here. – Brian W. Spencer Brian’s Playbook: WPS play, 1x EXBX with ALL.

DEL MAR Race 4 – Dmr

#3 Rockin Rhythm (7-2)

Our Eyes: Filly might have been best in her debut if

not for lugging in racing green through the stretch losing her action then re-rallied once jockey Mario Guitierrez corrected the problem and finished well. She has three steady works since over the Del Mar surface and the barn of Peter Eurton is overdue for a run of blue ribbons. – Terry Turrell Terry's Playbook: Bet to win, make a 3-2 exacta box.

#6 Classy Chick (8-1)

Our Eyes: This filly had a ton of trouble in her last at

Los Alamitos and resurfaces here. Trainer Eric Kruljac is 29% when going sprint-route-sprint. Plus Kruljac and jockey Corey Natatani have already won a couple of races this week. – Jeff Nahill Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win and 5 units to place. Race 5 – Dmr

#1 Round Money (5-1)

Our Eyes: Colt is undefeated in two career starts for

the red-hot barn of Doug O'Neill and was flattered by the victory of Mrazek on Wednesday. He has speed to clear the tough rail draw and winning rider Corey Nakatani retains the assignment. – Terry Turrell Terry's Playbook: Bet to win, key in the exotics.

Race 6 – Dmr

#10 Tried and True (5-1)

Our Eyes: Beautifully bred colt by Medaglia d'Oro

had a brutal trip in the Oceanside Opening Day when 4

th-of-11 at this mile distance over the turf. He raced

in traffic on the far turn lacking a clear path until late and galloped out impressively. – Terry Turrell Terry's Playbook: Bet to win, make a trifecta 8,10 w

8,10,11 w 1,4,8,10,11.

#9 The Gomper (9-2)

Our Eyes: This 3-year-old has been getting better

and may have found a home on the turf off his second place finish last time. Jockey Jerry Hollendorfer is 23% with jockey Rafael Bejarano, who must navigate a course from the outside. – Jeff Nahill Jeff’s Playbook: 3 units to win and 5 units to place. Race 8 – Dmr

#3 Fanticola (5-2)

Our Eyes: This 5yo has hit her stride this year for

trainer Phil D’Amato and again finds a race devoid of speed. Look for her to take the lead and go wire-to-wire for jockey Joe Talamo. – Jeff Nahill Jeff’s Playbook: 5 units to win and 10 units to place Singe in all horizontal wagers.

#4 Stormy Lucy (4-1)

Our Eyes: She raced huge facing most of this field in

the Royal Heroine (GII at Santa Anita) in June finishing third while making her first start since Del Mar 2014. She was stuck on the rail loaded with run on the far turn, angled out sharply entering the stretch, closing with big long strides late. She returned to Golden Gate working impressively for trainer Ed Moger and will be reunited with last winning rider Rafael Bejarano. – Terry Turrell Terry's Playbook: Bet to win, make a trifecta 4,9 w 3,4,9 w 2,3,4,7,9.

LOS ALAMITOS Race 3 – LA

#2 Shez A Better Choice A (5-1)

Our Eyes: She made my horses-to-watch list when a

much troubled fifth in last and gets a huge rider change from Minor Arana to Jesus Ayala. This filly was bounced around badly while breaking off balance at the start finishing fifth encountering traffic near the wire. – Terry Turrell Terry's Playbook: Bet to win and place, key in the trifecta with the 1,2,4,7. Race 9 – LA

#8 El Compa Jv (5-1)

Our Eyes: This colt will relish the extra 20 yards and

moves from jockey Roberto Hernandez to Rodrigo Aceves, annually one of the track's top pilots. This colt finished with big strides in last when 3

rdafter altering

course about 100-yards after the start. – Terry Turrell Terry's Playbook: Bet to win, make a 7-8 exacta box, also a superfecta 7,8 w 7,8 w 1,2,6,9 w ALL.

SATURDAY STAKES “8-PACK”SELECTIONS ** Saturday, August 8, 2015 Edition **

Post (ET)

Race / Stakes Selections

(best bets BOLD) Jeremy’s Analysis

1:44pm GP-3

Jackson Bend

#2 CATALINA RED #8 Big Awesome

#5 Naval Command #4 Rizwan

Field of misplaced types (turfers, fillies vs. boys) comes back to one of the more impressive early season 3YOs in Florida, Catalina Red.

Deliberate, well-spaced work tab for the long-awaited return and should get uncorked at 7 furlongs. Solid win 2. Double 2 w/ 2,3.

4:47 pm GP-4

Seaway Stakes

#3 Zane (turf picks only) #2 Joes Blazing Aaron

#4 My Point Exactly #5 Aire Bueno

Strong amount of speed in this race and no clear-cut finishers. Joe’s Blazing Aaron has been facing tougher for most part and is best of the speed. Zane, while not showing it of late, has run some serious

late pace figures that may add up. Win-place 3. Exacta box 3-2.

4:47 pm WO-8

Seaway Stakes

#2 Skylander Girl #3 Pirate’s Trove #4 Mabre Rose

#6 Hillaby

Skylander Girl ran her tail off last out and deserved to win, but the race was a bit farther than her best. At 7 furlongs now, she has

enough speed to be right in the mix even shortening up. US raiders for respected barns offer big threats. Win 2. Exacta boxes 2-3, 2-4.

4:51 pm GP-9 Unbridled

#3 Southern Barbecue #7 Sing Praises

#10 Wicked Rascal #4 Yourdreamsormine

Trainer Stanley Gold often has huge days on these Fla-bred cards and has this field surrounded with the top 2 choices. Southern Barbecue couldn’t keep pace with graded runners in the Carry

Back, but figures mid-pack and pounce vs. these. Win 3.

5:11 pm Sar-8

Test Stakes

#3 By The Moon #4 Take Charge Brandi

#9 Bar of Gold #1 Irish Jasper

True, we missed the potential 30-1 blockbuster in the Acorn for By The Moon and the price will be shorter, but she proved that her 1-

turn tenacity is as good as any 3YO filly that day. Take Charge Brandi figures just fine at 7F. Win 3. Trifecta 3,4 w/ 3,4 w/ ALL.

5:40 pm Elp-9

Groupie Doll

#6 Ambusher #8 Willow Hills

#1 Call Pat #5 Sky Girl

Capacity field and lack of standout favorite makes this an appealing betting race. A wide post can be tough at Elp going a mile as the

race begins on the 1st-turn “elbow.” Flashy American a vulnerable fav. Ambusher had no shot in last w/ slow pace. Win-place 6.

5:46 pm Sar-9 Whitney

#9 WICKED STRONG

#7 Lea #4 Liam’s Map

#2 Tonalist

I may be Honor Code’s biggest fan, but I’ve always said he’s a 1-turn superstar & average around 2 turns. Old school turf-to-dirt

move with Wicked Strong, red-hot pace and blowout work point to upset. Win-place 9. Trifecta 9 w/ 7,4 w/ ALL … and 7,4 w/ 9 w/ ALL.

7:10 pm Dmr-5

Best Pal Stakes

#4 Swipe #1 Found Money

#2 Payne’s Prairie #6 Annie’s Candy

Four of these six runners want to battle on the front end and 6-1/2 furlongs can be a tricky distance for 2YOs. Swipe should benefit

from the duel and appears the best finisher in this race. The wildcard is eastern raider Payne’s Prairie. Win 4. Exactas 4 w/ 1,2.

Other stakes notables:

The Xpressbet Race of the Week analysis at Horseplayernow.com gives you my full take on Del Mar Race 8, the Grade 2 John C. Mabee.Front-running favorite Fanticola looks loose on the lead.

Picks: 3-4-2-8

CATON BREDAR'S FULL CARD SARATOGA SELECTIONS Saturday August 8, 2015

Race Caton's Selections

(BEST BETS in BOLD) Analysis

1

#1 Cease #6 Mail

#5 Leiutenant Seany O #2 Second City

In a race where literally every horse has shot, Cease gets slight edge on back class combined with huge drop. He’s has yet to win for Jason Servis

but makes third start off layoff and is one of very few w/ wins at track and distance. Mail is a question at this distance but also dropping in

class for hot barn and suffered rough trip last out against tougher. Lieutenant Seany O gets Castellano and has 1 win at track and distance;

comes off dominating win with slightly easier at Belmont.

2

#9 Deeply Undervalued #3 Monster Bea

#7 Rafting #6 Mighty Mo

Deeply Undervalued debuts for Brown with typical work pattern, Castellano and grass pedigree. One of many in wide open 2yo MSW. Monster Bea one of few w/ race under his belt and may improve on

grass for barn who has had success with limited invaders. Rafting working well for barn that has moderate results with babies. Mighty Mo

overbet for Pletcher/Velazquez but logical with good works/post.

3

#4 Economic Model #2 Bayou Banker #9 Set the Trappe

#8 Deserved

Another inscrutable baby race with only first timers. Economic Model has profile of first out winner by Flatter, a sire who can throw an early bloomer although likely to run longer. Babyou Banker likely to offer

more value; expensive offspring who has some good works and lots of preparation. Debuts with Lasix. Set the Trappe also working well for

barn that shows decent stats with young horses.

4

#3 Vyjack #4 Charming Kitten

#6 Reload #2 Under Control

Without a lot of early pace, steadily improving Vyjack may find himself in the ideal spot for Mott, who took over training recently. Horse has back class with graded stakes race on dirt and only outings on turf so far have

been creditable. Believe he could have pace advantage with good longshot rider Alvarado. Charming Kitten and Reload each with ability but seem to appreciate more distance and may be up against it pace

wise although both working well for their respective barns.

5

#7 Zennor #4 Lookaroundcorners

#5 Infinite Wisdom #12 Dave Hoeght

Zennor makes his first start of the year for McLaughlin, who is winning at the Spa at a 23% clip. Trainer does well with these types of layoff horses,

and colt has been working very well at the Spa for return. Lookaroundcorners has virtually run two winning races, the first

resulting in dq, the most recent a head bobbing defeat. Very logical to graduate but likely to be short odds and has found a way to lose twice,

once as favorite. Infinite Wisdom intriguing off long layoff but returning with Lasix and some good efforts at tough Woodbine.

6

#9 Havana #4 Ocean Knight

#2 Juba #7 Erik the Red

Havana returned after a long break and can move forward with that effort under his belt for Pletcher; showed a lot of ability at 2 and, with

good early speed on the outside, will be tough if remotely close to what he used to be. Ocean Knight comes back after comparatively shorter rest and with a graded stakes race to his credit in only second start. Training well for return although work outs limited—mixed signals?

7

#9 Daring Kathy #12 Stellar Path

#11 Ticking Katie #5 Recepta

Daring Kathy seems capable of two in row with similar pace scenario as what she encountered when winning the Perfect Sting at Belmont. Not much early speed to challenge her early and if anything, Spa turf course

even more to her liking than Belmont. Stellar Path main threat but draws tough post. Filly ran credibly with tougher last two. Ticking Katie

also with tough post but in good form, winning her US debut in June.

8

#3 By the Moon #2 Cavorting

#6 Wonder Gal #8 Angela Renee

By the Moon suffered heartbreaker in Acorn back in June and has been working up a storm lately at the Spa where she’s won. Filly has tactical speed but doesn’t have to lead to win; seems to thrive on competition and has shown steady improvement throughout career—no reason to believe it should stop. Cavorting classy filly with 3 for 5 record; has to prove she can be as effective at 7 furlongs but definitely likes the Spa. Wonder Gal and Angela Renee both capable on best day. Group takes

turn beating one another so good race to tab tote.

Page 7: SATURDAY S BUZZ POST TIMESfiles.ctctcdn.com/33cf339c001/b1dac192-0a88-4c76-8... · Catch the buzz daily from some of the nation’s best handicappers every day in your e-mail in-box!

9

#2 Tonalist #1 Honor Code

#6 V.E. Day #4 Liam’s Map

Tonalist looks for redemption after two disappointing runner-up finishes as the favorite; gets seemingly his best distance here and, likely not the

favorite, should have plenty of pace to run down courtesy of Liam’s Map, Moreno and Coach Inge. Honor Code in similar position although after

an amazing win in the Met Mile, it’s hard to believe he can duplicate that effort, and it may be tricky to do so from inside post. V.E. Day 2 for 2 at

Spa but barn and another that benefits from legit early pace.

10

#11 Kitten’s Point #10 Queen’s Parade #12 Danza Cavallo #1 Golden Espony

Kitten’s Point makes second start off layoff and is well suited for the distance with veteran Prado aboard. Will move forward in what shapes up to be great riders’ race. Queen’s Parade also makes second off layoff and exits same race as Kitten’s Point, finishing a bit ahead of that one in

a narrow loss. Very likely to come right back with similar effort.

11

#3 Full Tap #2 Bella Kateri

#8 Majestic Bloom #9 Southern Sunshine

Full Tap broke her maiden professionally and can duplicate the effort in first try against winners for barn that wins right back over 20%. Bella

Kateri shortens up and will be running late after nice efforts at 7 furlongs. Majestic Bloom hard to guage off layoff but showed promise winning debut at Spa a year ago; only race against winners was stakes.

It’s like having our team with you while you handicap! By JEREMY PLONK

Pace, trip and key angles are all viable handicapping tools that we apply at Horse Player NOW. Now, we share them with you! For more on trip notes and horses to watch, see today’s BUZZ Report for each track we cover with our team of experts.

The HP NOW “Sidekick” is designed to help you handicap a race and point you to the things we’re looking at, too.

Pace scenarios provided help give you a snapshot of how the race may be run – and won. Horse numbers are put into (S) SPEED, (P) PRESSER, (M) MIDPACK, (C) CLOSER designations. Each race’s betting strength is rated $ (weak),$$ (average) or $$$ (strong) to help budget & find potentially large payouts.
