POONCH, Sept 15: MemberLegislative Assembly Mendhar,Javed Ahmed Rana todayreviewed the plan devised byGovernment departments for amulti crore project for construc-tion of cluster model village inMendhar area which has recentlybeen sanctioned by Government.
The meeting was held at subdivisional headquarters, Mendharwhich was chaired by the MLAand officers from EducationDepartment, PWD, PHE, PDD,Rural Development Department,Tourism, Industries etc alsoattended.
It was informed in the meetingby the officers of concerneddepartments that cluster modelvillage will be constructed at aninitial estimated cost of Rs 12crore and will act as cluster of dif-ferent Panchayats of Gursai area
which include Gursai main,Phamra Nar, Gursai Harmutta,Gursai Sar, Gursai Mori, GursaiTaimi, Prat. All types of basicfacilities of a model village will beprovided in this cluster model vil-lage.
While interacting with officerson this occasion, MLA Mendhartold them that construction of thiscluster model village will solveseveral basic issues of local popu-lation in these Panchayats.
“There should be no compro-mise in quality of work and weshould give a valuable anddurable asset to the people " Ranatold officers assuring them ofevery possible cooperation fromhis side.
He also asked them to ensurethat said project is completedwithin the stipulated time periodto prevent any kind of cost escala-tion.

Dr. Rajendra Mishra,Associate Professor, TheBusiness School, University ofJammu, was the resource per-son for the session. The stu-dents of MBA-1st, 3rd andBBA-5th semester attended thelecture.

JAMMU, Sept 15: Kanachackpolice under "OperationSanjeevani" apprehended a truckeralong with 18 kilograms of poppystraw.
As per police sources, on spe-cific information, a team fromKanachack Police Station laid anaka and intercepted a truck bear-ing registration number JK02AD-3763.
During checking, police recov-ered 18 kilograms of poppy strawfrom the vehicle and arrested thedriver, who has been identified asKirpal Singh, son of Chatur Singh,a resident of Gundna Khawas, dis-trict Rajouri.
During preliminary enquiry, itcame to light that the accused hadbrought the consignment fromKashmir and was transporting itvia Mughal Road to Jammu forselling among the youth. With hisarrest, police saved the youth tobecome drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number117/17 under relevant Sections hasbeen registered at KanachackPolice Station and investigationstarted.

Appellate Tribunal upholds penalty onNova Brand Skimmed Milk PowderExcelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Sept 15: TheFood Safety Appellate Tribunal,Srinagar has upheld the order byAdjudicating Officer, Anantnag,imposing a penalty of Rs 4.00lakh on the manufacturer of thefood product Nova BrandSkimmed Milk Powder for manu-facturing and selling substandardskimmed milk powder.
Dismissing the appeal, filedby the manufacturer in the HighCourt, the Appellate Tribunalobserved that it did not find anymerit in the appeal. “The amountof penalty recovered from theappellant company which standsdeposited in FDR with J&KBank, Branch Old Secretariat,Srinagar be deposited in theGovernment Treasury along withthe interest accrued thereon underrules after the period of appeal isover,” the court said.
A complaint under Section26(2)(ii) of Food Safety &Standards Act, 2006 punishableunder Section 51 of FSS Act,2006, was filed by the enforce-ment authorities of Drug and FoodControl Organization before thecourt of Adjudicating Officer,Anantnag against . After completion of enquiry,the Adjudicating Officer,Anantnag imposed a penalty of Rs4.00 lakh on the manufacturer ofthe food product (Nova BrandSkimmed Milk Powder). Theorder impugned imposing penaltyon the manufacturer was chal-lenged before the High Court ofJ&K, at Srinagar. As soon as theFood Safety Appellate Tribunal,Kashmir became functional in the,month of January, 2017, the HighCourt at Srinagar directed theRegistry to send the petition alongwith complete paper book to theFood Safety Appellate Tribunal,Srinagar.
The Food Safety AppellateTribunal, Srinagar observed thatthe skimmed milk powder wasmeant for distribution among dif-ferent Anganwari Centers of dis-trict Anantnag. The company can-not escape its liability as becauseit is the manufacturer of thisskimmed milk powder (NovaBrand) that was meant for humanconsumption, more so by childrenwho are prone to be affected evenby a slightest adulteration in afood product.
14 fresh Dengue cases reportedExcelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 15: Fourteenfresh cases of Dengue werereported in Jammu region takingthe total number people affectedso far with this vector borne dis-ease in Jammu region to 59.
According to official sourcesas on today, a total of 550patients were tested for Dengueout of which 59 cases were foundto be positive and reports of 283were found negative while resultof 208 samples are still awaited.“No death has been reported dueto Dengue so far”, they added.
Elaborating more, sources
said that out of 59 Dengue cases,maximum 52 have been reportedin Jammu district, two in Sambaand one each in Kathua, Poonch,Rajouri, Udhampur and Dodadistricts. They further revealedthat out of these 59 denguepatients, 45 were adults (30males and 15 females) and 14were children (7 males and 7females).
They said that so far Denguehas not claimed any life inJammu region and most of thepatients affected with the diseasehave returned to their home aftersuccessful treatment in varioushospitals.

Later, enroute to Leh, theMinister also inauguratedExtension Centre of AnimalHusbandry Department at vil-lage Dha Beama in Khalsi. Thecentre is exclusive meant for thebenefits of the people of Aryandynasty in the area.
During the tour, the Ministervisited Poultry Farm Khalshiand took stock of its activitiesbesides inaugurating CommonFacility Center of AnimalHusbandry.

Missing girl traced outfrom Pahalgam

SRINAGAR, Sept 15: Policetoday said a missing girl wastraced out from Pahalgam area ofsouth Kashmir's Anantnag district.
A police spokesman said thaton September 11, police stationPahalgam was informed about themissing of a girl since 9th of thismonth. "In this regard, a missingreport was lodged in police stationPahalgam and police took speedyaction to trace out the missing girl.After strenuous efforts the missinggirl was recovered fromPahalgam," he said.
The spokesman said that aftercompletion of all legal formalities,the missing girl was handed overto her family members. "The fam-ily members of the girl thankedand appreciated police," he added.

Prof Mathur lectured studentsof M Tech Energy Managementon e-QUEST, energy simulationsoftware for buildings. His lec-ture was followed by a hands-ontraining on the software. Thissession was followed by a talk on

SAMBA, Sept 15: FormerMinister and JKPCC generalsecretary Manjit Singh todaycondemned unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan inwhich one BSF Jawan lost hislife.
Condemning the Pakistan'sact, Manjit Singh said that therepeated violations on theInternational Border (IB) haveproved that Modi Governmenthas failed in its foreign policy.
"India needs a strong gov-ernment which Congress pro-vided and such a situation didnot arise. However, the ModiGovernment is unable to dealwith the border situation," for-mer minister alleged.
He said that a BSF jawanlost his life while defending bor-
ders with Pakistan. PakistanRangers shelling has alsowounded several cattle and hithouses in border area.
He said that the Governmentshould give five marla plots tothe border residents in saferareas so that they can shift dur-ing hostility on border. He saidthat the Modi Governmentshould take immediate steps toprovide relief and other things ofneed to the Pak shelling affectedpeople.

RAJOURI, Sept 15: Twopersons were injured when aScorpio vehicle met with anaccident in Thannamandi areathis afternoon.
