Theme: Drug Addiction

About the Community

Satya Bharti School Satiyana located in district Ludhiana East (Punjab).Village Satiyana is the center of villages Hadhiwal, Bupana and Jonewal. These villages are located very near Sutlej River.Due to fertile land the maximum occupation of people is agriculture. Wheat, rice and sugarcane are well growing.

In village satiyana 60% people’s occupation is agriculture and 40% people are doing labour in factories and other fields. In village satiyana the living standard of the people is high but literacy rate is low. Maximum people in the village are migrant.   

We “Felt”School Students felt that there are so many problems those are effecting our society like:-• Illiteracy• Poverty• Pollution• Drug Addiction After a group discussion among the students, they decided to work for drug addiction. Because maximum adults are indulge in drug addiction and are not aware about its ill effects. 

‘Imagined’:

Students imagined the society where none take drugs or liquor. They imagined that their parents should lead a healthy life as most of the students’ father are drunkard.

We ‘Did’: • DAY -1=Students presented a

role play for community.• DAY-2=Students made charts

on drugs addiction . They wrote slogan on chart for the awareness .

We Did… Day 3 & 4= Student took a field visit to collect the views of community members about drug addition. According to women it has become a big problem in society. So if it is possible we should take proper steps to tackle the problem. They are too much frustrated due to drug addiction of their husbands. Students collected the views & the material for their role play

We Did…

DAY-5= on this day students did a role play about using of drugs.  

“Nukar-natak” was about a dunked man Raghu who lost his family, money and health in drugs. Students performed this “Nukar- Natak” on satluj bandh. People were very happy that the children of satya bharti school satiyana were taking initiative to root out this evil of drug addiction.

• DAY-6= on this day students gave speech in the community about the awareness of bad effect of all drugs . 

• DAY-7= on the last day some community members also joined the rally with students. Students again did “Nukar-natak” and some community member gave speeches and shared their views.

•  

Impact

• We saw impact of this program on the spot when a regular drunker named “Makkhan Sahni “promised to give up alcohol.

•  young men also got motivated to the impact of drugs on their life.

Students decided to keep this awareness drive continue.
