The King Abdullah Scholarship Program goals

When compared to everything else in the world, the Makkah Clock Royal Tower Hotel can only be described in superlatives: the tallest hotel, the tallest clock tower, the largest clock face, the largest indoor space. It is a construction project full of superlatives: the world’s largest tower clock in Mecca, the Holy City of Islam. The building at the center of the sacred site breaks over 30 world records; its giant clock face is 43 meters in size, the minute hand measures 23 meters in length and the clock drives weigh 21 tons a piece. Put together it is an engineering masterpiece, 35 times larger than Big Ben and adorned in over 98 million glass mosaic tiles with 24-carat gold leaf. By night over two million LEDs illuminate the tower clock making it legible from distances of over eight kilometers.

Makah is the holiest place in the Islamic world. Every year, millions of Muslims go to Hajj or pilgrimage in Mecca, fulfilling one of the Five Pillars of Islam, namely to make the Hajj in Mecca, the holy city, at least once in a lifetime if able to do so. The Counties to which students are sent studying the program have been selected on the basis of the excellences their educational programs and are subject to periodic review.

The scholarship students’ benefits under the program are

Saudi Arabia Education system under Government agencies of Ministry of Education. Elementary education lasts for six years (age level 6-12 years old) and leads to the General Elementary Education Certificate. Intermediate Education lasts for three years (age level 12-15) and it leads to the Intermediate School Certificate. Secondary school education lasts for three years (age level 15-18) and it leads to the high school diploma. Free education from kindergarten through university. Schools are not co-educational. All these universities are linked to the Ministry of Higher Education, but enjoy a high level of independence in both administrative and academic scope.
