AIR RELEASE VALVE AIF-118 S

(For Sewage) SPS air release valve incorporates a kinetic and an

automatic air release valve in one single valve body.

Each function in the sewage system is to release air

(gases) and to admit air into sewage and waste water

lines. The exclusive structure guarantees complete

separation of the liquid from the sealing system and

provides optimum working conditions.

OPERATION :

During the filling of the line, air pockets (gases) are

released at high flow rates through the orifice of the

kinetic valve. During the emptying of the line, the valve

admits air (gases) at high flow rates into the system-

During normal operation, a sewage flows in the line, the

kinetic orifice remains closed, as the valve continues to

release entrapped air, which accumulates in the line

through the automatic nozzle. The valves mechanism

prevents the opening of the automatic nozzle upon every

slight pressure change in the line, thus guarantying the

preservation of an "air-gap" between the sealing system

and the contaminated liquid.

PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE

1- Pressure Reducing Feature:

Pressure reducing control (5) is a normally open control that senses main valve outlets

pressure changes. An increase in outlet pressure tends to close control (5). This cause main

valve cover pressure to vary and the main valve to modulate (open and close) maintaining a

relatively constant outlet pressure.

Pressure reducing control (5) adjustment:

Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase the setting.

2- (E*) European Standards:

Item (2) - (isolation ball valve) The isolation ball valves are used to isolate the pilot system from main line pressure. These

isolation ball valve must be open during normal operation.

Item (3) . (y-strainer with incorporated orifice)

The strainer is installed in the pilot supply line to protect the pilot system from foreign practice.

The strainers screen must be cleaned periodically.

Item (4) - (row control) Flow control (4) regulates the opening speed of main valve (1). Turn the adjusting screw

clockwise to make the main valve open more slowly.

3- Optional Features:

Suffix (a) - (internal strainer self-cleaning)

In some applications the self-cleaning strainer cla -val x46a screwed at the inlet of main valve

(1) reduces maintenance generated by the cleaning of the standard strainer screen

With this option (a) the strainer x46a replaces the strainer (3) and the orifice of the x44a

-strainer (3) is replaced by the orifice assembly x58-csa.

The cleaning of the strainer x46a is requesting its removal from the main valve body (1)

3- Optional features:

Suffix (c) - (closing speed)

Flow control (c) regulates the closing speed of main valve (1). Turn the adjusting screw

clockwise to make the valve close more slowly.

Suffix (y) - (high capacity filter)

When too many foreign particles are contained into the control pressure, it is recommended

to replace the standard filter x440 by the high capacity filter x43/80-ep, whose screen ( Dia 80

x 110 a) Offers a much bigger filtration surface.

However an additional union fitting, with incorporated calibrated orifice, model k52-vr must be

mounted between the filter outlet and the t-piece connecting the main valve control chamber.

4. Check List For Proper Operation:

" System valves open upstream and downstream

" Air removed from the main valve cover and pilot

" System at all high points.

" Isolation valves (2) open.

" Periodical cleaning of the filter screen (3)

1- Pressure Relief Features:

Pressure relief control (4) is a "normally closed" control that responds to main valve inlet

pressure changes. An increase in inlet pressure tends to open control (4) and a decrease in

inlet pressure tends to close control (4). This causes main valve cover pressure at the main

valve Intel. When inlet pressure is lower than chamber and the main valve closes.

Pressure Relief Control (4) Adjustment: Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to increase the setting.

2- Closing/Opening Speed Control

Calibrated orifice of strainer (3) and flow control (5) control the closing speed of the main

valve (1). Flow control (5) controls the closing speed of the main valve (1). Turn the

adjustment stem of control (5) clockwise to make thee main valve close/open more slowly. Do

not close control (5) completely or the main valve will not close or open (suggested initial

setting of needle valve is 1/2 to 1 turn open).

If high speed opening and slow speed closing of main valve (1) are required by the hydraulic

service's conditions, it may be necessary to replace the original orifice plug of strainer by a

smaller one.

3- (E*) European Standards:

Item (2) - (isolation ball valve)

The isolation ball valves are used to isolate the pilot system from main line pressure. These

isolation ball valves must be opened during normal operation.

Item (3) - (y-strainer with incorporated orifice)

To strainer is installed in the pilot supply line to protect T1 ie pilot system from foreign

4- Optional Features:

Suffix (f) - (remote sensing)

Remote sensing is obtained from a point upstream of the main valve (1) inlet. By a pipe size

0 12 mm, which must not have any high points and so formation of air pockets and avoid any

pulsation of control.

Suffix (h) - (drain to atmosphere)

The outlet of isolation ball valve (2c) is not connected to outlet of main valve (1), but directly to

atmosphere.

Suffix (c) - (closing speed)

Flow control (c) regulates the closing speed of main valve (1). Turn the adjusting screw

clockwise to make the valve close more slowly.

PUMP CONTROL VALVE With Hydraulic Check (DN 50 - 100)

1- solenoid control Solenoid valve (4). Equipped with a manual actuator, is a direct-action 3-way solenoid control

that change position when its coil is energized or de-energized. This applies or relives

pressure in the control chamber of main valve (1), providing the operation shown in the

following table:

chamber is prevented by the check valve (6).

3-operating speed control Needle valve (5) equipped with operating speed of main valve (1) during the opening and the

slowly. Note: do not close control (5) completely or the main valve (1) will. Not move anymore.

(suggested initial setting of needle valve (5) = 1/4 turn open).

4-switch assembly feature (standard valve) Such assembly (7) (low unit) is actuated magnetically by a permanent magnet fixed to the

main valve stem extension. The magnetic contact can be adjusted by moving its pvc support.

The switch assembly is normally adjusted to switch when the main valve (1)isb reaching

approximately 3 (:)/0 of its opening lift. When the main valve (1) is closing and reach the above

set point, the switch (7) trips and shuts down the pump.

The switch is adjusted to detect the working position of the diaphragm assembly positioned by

the flow through the main valve. If the main valve remains closed after the starting of the

pump (cavitations of the pump, valve blocked. Etc) during a prescribed time, the discordance

should shut off the pump, by closing the maw valve (1) first.

6- (e*) European Standards

A) Controlled Closing Position

Solenoid valve (4b) closed. Solenoid valve (4a) is a direct-acting, 2-way solenoid control that opens when its coil is

energized; this applies pressure in the control chamber of the main valve ( I ) through the

calibrated orifice (3a). The main valve (1) is closing progressively, at a closing speed

controlled by orifice (3a). The closing of solenoid valve (4a) is locking the main valve (1) in any desired partial opening

of its lift.

B) Controlled Opening Position

Solenoid valve (4a) closed. Solenoid valve (4b) is a direct-acting, 2-way solenoid control that opens when its coil is

energized; this releases pressure from the control chamber of the main valve (1) through the

Item (2) - (isolation ball valve):

To cocks are used to isolate the pilot system from the main line pressure. These valves must

be open during normal operation.

Item (3) - (strainer with incorporated orifice)

Strainers (3a/b) are installed in the pilot supply line to protect the pilot system from foreign

particles. The strainer screen (3a/b) must be cleaned periodically. The incorporated orifices

(3a/b) are calibrating the operating speeds (closing/opening) of the main valve (1) on a

protected way; the set speed is not altered by any internal build-up. In order to modify the

working speed, it is necessary to change the respective calibrated orifice.

The outlet of isolation ball valve (2c) is not connected to outlet of main valve (1), but is

discharging directly into the atmosphere (orifice female 3/8").

The SPS-CLA-VAL SERIES 1 00 On/off Float Level

Control Valve is a non-modulating valve which accurately

controls the liquid level in o tank. This valve opens fully

when the liquid level reaches a preset low level and

closes drip tight when the liquid level reaches a high level.

The SPS-CLA-VAL 100 -CF9 & 113-CF9 is equipped with

a 2-way pilot control including a frost free protection by

maintaining a constant flow through the pilot circuit of the

main valve.

open when the liquid level reaches a preset min. level and

closes drip thighs when the filling of the tank reaches the

preset max. level.

SPS-CLA-VAL 113-CF9 On/Off Float Level Control Valve

1- Hydraulic Remote Control

Float control (4) is a float operated two-way pilot valve which provides a non modulating: two

positions, on-off operation. It is operated mechanically through a pvc float 0 200 mm which

moves freely on s float rod, equipped with two adjustable rings, allowing to set the "maximum"

and the "minimum" level. At maximum level, the float control valve (4) is closed and directs

the pressure into the control chamber of the main valve (1) , causing it to close. At minimum

level, the valve (4) is fully opened, thus the control chamber is under static pressure,

corresponding to the height between the main valve (1) and the float control valve (4) . The

pressure at the inlet of the main valve (1); being higher than the static one, opens the main

valve (1), thus allowing the reservoir to be filled.

Notice: in order to guarantee good working of the system, the dynamic pressure at the inlet of

the main valve (1) must be higher than the difference in height between the valve (1) and the

float control valve (4) - augmented by twice the pressure drop of the valve at max. Flow. As a

consequence: the float valve (4) has to be installed at a height which is always beneath that of

the inlet of the reservoir. The float control valve (4) is provided with a locking feature that prevents the valve to

commute between maximum and minimum level.

2- Opening/Closing Speed

The main valve (1) includes a feature allowing automatic acceleration of opening resp.

Closing speed, when one third of the valve stroke is reached (first third of stroke when

opening - last third when closing) . This feature prevents the system from hydraulic shocks,

when the differential pressure is important. Once the valve has passed on third of its stroke,

opening speed becomes automatically accelerated until full opening of the main valve (1) is

obtained. When closing, the accelerated speed takes place until the last third of the stroke

begins, afterwards speed becomes slow.

4- Optional Features

Suffix (f) - (independent operating pressure)

The control pressure for the pilot system is obtained from an independent source; in any

application, the independent pressure must be equal or higher than the existing inlet main valve (1) pressure.

Item (w1) - (anti-freeze feature)

The float control valve (4) can be equipped such that when in closed position, a constant flow

is maintained through the pilot circuit of the main valve, (1) . This eliminates all risk of freezing in case of low temperature.

The SPS-CLA-VAL 210-01 is typically designed for closed

reservoir where water is withdraw through a separate line.

The desired water level is set by adjusting the spring force

the pilot control operates on the differential in forces

between a spring load and the water level in the reservoir.

The SPS-CLA-VAL 210-01 is one way flow only the

reservoir pressure sensing line should be 20mm minimum

I.D installed with a 2" slope from the valve to the reservoir

to avoid air pockets.
