General objectives of the pre-treatmentREDWAVE WASTE
Loosen up the incoming waste as a pre-condition for an optimal air flow in the biodrying process
Shred the waste to a uniform particle size to ensure a consistant material flow in the downstream process
Open up bags if recyclables shall be recovered
Recover plastics, paper and other recycables
Homogenise the incoming waste
Open up composite materials
Objectives of the Biological dryingREDWAVE WASTE
Dry the waste with heat generated by the degradation of the organic matter
Loss of moisture > 25%w/w per week
Centralised leachate collection
Variable control systems allow the use of the drying unit for different applications
CompostingDrying

Principle of the Bio-Drying-UnitREDWAVE WASTE
Bio-Drying-Unit exhaust air
ambient airsupply air fan
outlet leachate
Biofilter• Depending on the application the intelligent control
system can be set up to regulate the air flow for the best degradation or drying process.
Objectives of the refining processREDWAVE WASTE
Sort out inert materials (aggregates, glass, etc.)
Shred the SRF to meet the required particle size
Recover ferrous and non-ferrous
Recover PVC to reduce the chlorine content of the SRF

Fuel (SRF)
Advantages of the bio-drying process
REDWAVE WASTE
Unlike thermal drying no fossil fuel or external heat is required (low power consumption)
High percentage of landfill diversion achievable (up to 85% recovery - SRF, metals, recyclables, inert’s)
Only inerts go to landfill and can be used as landfill cover
Low space requirements due to short retention time of the waste inside the biodrying unit (7-10 days)
Outgoing products meet industrial requirements (SRF, metals, recyclables)
SRF is recognized as a quality fuel for thermal recovery (Power plants / cement kilns / etc.)
Proven and reliable technology with 15 years of operational experience all across Europe
Typical composition of dried SRFREDWAVE WASTE
Renewable energy sources (cardboard/paper, textiles, wood, organics, fine
fraction) approx. 65% by weight
Foreign / inert mate-rials
(stone, glass, metal) <1% by weight
other fossil fuels (textiles, rubber, com-
pounds, etc.) approx. 25% by weight
Plastics Approx. 9% by weight
Calorific value: 14 – 18 MJ/kg
Moisture content: <20% w/w
Percentage of MSW: up to 50% w/w
When should Bio-Drying be favoured?
REDWAVE WASTE
If there is a need for high quality SRF (i.e. cement plants etc.) on the market
If you have min. 30.000 tpa of waste (3 drying units)
If landfill space is short or if landfilling of untreated waste will be banned shortly
If landfill tax increases year by year
If the wet waste is not suitable for an efficient incineration (i.e. high temperature)
Higher separation efficiency achievable after drying

REDWAVE WASTE
Fully automated loading & unloading processoperated by cranes
Efficient air circulation system leads to small a amount of exhaust air
Fast biological drying process (6 days) . Reduction of the moisture content
from 40% down to < 20%
High degree of sorting efficiency & safe working places!
REDWAVE WASTE
Due to the dried waste excellent separation results are obtained
Fully enclosed and ventilated equipment
Clean and safe working places
Proven & reliable sorting process with plantavailability > 90%
High degree of sorting efficiency & safe working places!
REDWAVE WASTE
SRF dry & storable high calorific value (approx. 15 MJ/kg) homogenous fuel, extremely low content of contaminants positive carbon footprint
MetalsFe- & NF-metals (traded as a commodity)
Inerts(can be landfilled acc.to the German landfilldirective Abl.-VO)
