OBJECTIVE: LOOKING FOR A CAREER IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
EDUCATION EST GRAD: DECEMBER 2015
California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo – MAJOR GPA 3.2
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering – December 2015
QUALIFICATIONS
Mechatronics AutoCAD Inventor Matlab
Mastercam Solidworks AutoDesk Fusion
TECHNICAL PROJECTS
Carbon Articulating Backpack Spine – Manufacturing Officer
Designed a backpack spine for firefighters and search and rescue to prevent back injury
Prevented injury by mechanically transferring loads from the shoulders to a waist belt
Constructed carbon fiber plates with aluminum inserts using a wet layup process on a foam mold
Created 3D models of the articulating plates and molds using Solidworks
Manufactured foam molds with a cnc router programmed with Mastercam
Mechatronics Balancing Bot
Designed and constructed a robot to balance, drive, and turn on two wheels
Programmed an Atmega1281 microprocessor and a nine degree of freedom sensor in C++
Created a low pass and high pass filter to reduce noise and increase accuracy of sensor readings
Utilized encoder motors to calculate wheel speed in order to move and turn at controlled speeds
B.E.S.T. Robotics – Team Lead
Designed and constructed a controlled robot out of plywood, aluminum and steel sheet metal
Collected different sized balls and soup containers using a servo driven claw
Engineered an aluminum plow to clear debris from the game field and force balls into the claw
Presented the robot, work schedule, school involvement, and 3D designs to judges
Roborodentia – Team Designer
Assigned to collect and stack cans autonomously in a set amount of time
Modeled a pulley system to lift a can held by a servo driven claw in Solid Works
Tested the machined claw to ensure stability and performance during competition
SELECTED WORK EXPERIENCE
GAF Steep Slope Shingle Plant Engineering Co-op
Installed a servo actuator and gearbox to adjust a roll in increments of a thousandth of an inch
Prototyped a more durable tungsten carbide lined fines application tube
Supported design and installation of a new granule press system to improve operator con trol
Designed a pallet labeling system utilizing a previous labeling system’s parts
Calculated the pressure for air springs by measuring the force applied on coated mat
Tested a new scoring tool position and angle maintaining quality specifications
Inspected machined parts, welds, and bolted assemblies
Ordered parts per design to mix reclaim and virgin granules and decrease weight variation
Filled purchase orders for parts and safe work permits during project installation
Zodiac Seat Shells Prototype Engineer Intern
Modeled tooling jigs, fixtures, and parts to meet company standards in Catia
Programmed 3-axis and 5-axis wood, foam, and composite parts for machining using Mastercam
Operated and maintained a 5-axis CNC to meet tolerance requirements of machined parts
Inspected and assembled seat shells to match the Catia model for a critical design review
