STAR CHEFS & VINTNERS GALA

WHATSan Francisco’s most exciting food and wine event returns as Meals on Wheels San Francisco presents the 31st Annual Star Chefs & Vintners Gala.

Each year, Northern California’s most illustrious chefs and vintners come together for this epicurean extravaganza, which features an hors d’oeuvre and wine reception, seated, three-course dinner and lavish dessert reception.

Nancy Oakes of Michelin-starred Boulevard will serve as Gala Chef Chair for the 15th year. Last year, the Gala raised $3.2 million, providing more than 660,000 nutritious meals to San Francisco’s homebound seniors.

MEALS ON WHEELS SAN FRANCISCOOUR MISSIONMeals On Wheels of San Francisco and its volunteers provide seniors what they need to live independent and dignified lives — nutritious meals, professional social work and a friendly visitor.

WHO WE AREFounded in 1970, MOWSF is a local, independent non-profit organization. We work to alleviate the food insecurity and loneliness experienced by seniors who want to stay in their own homes but cannot shop or prepare meals for themselves.

WHO WE SERVEOur services are geared towards those with the greatest physical, social and economic need. The seniors we serve are frail, have limited ability to purchase or prepare meals and have little or no support from family or caregivers. They are also often physically challenged, as well as confronted with the high cost of living in San Francisco on a limited income.

OUR SERVICESHome-Delivered Meals. We serve more than 1.8 million meals a year to seniors in every San Francisco neighborhood. Our staff drivers deliver hot and frozen meals, along with fresh packed lunches to more than 4,200 seniors each year.

Safety Checks. We look out for clients’ well-being and safety and alert emergency contacts or services when a client is injured or fails to answer the door.

Nutrition Counseling. Our registered dietitians perform more than 1,625 hours of nutrition counseling each year.

Social Work. Our professional staff conducts regular home visits, help connect seniors to other social services and provides case management when needed.

Volunteer Programs. We match volunteers with local seniors to offer companionship, battle isolation and offer assistance with grocery shopping, home repairs, home cleaning and more.

Home Safety and Urgent Needs. We provide health and safety items like grab bars, smoke detectors, microwaves and refrigerators.
