“Eco-CHIC”
The Community Environmen-tal Council (CEC) celebrated 40 years of environmental
leadership in Santa Barbara at their spectacular “Eco-Chic” Green Gala anniversary event. The outdoor Plaza del Sol at Fess Parker’s Dou-ble-Tree Resort was magically trans-formed by Merryl Brown of Brown Events, into an enchanted Celtic forest, replete with wood nymphs, fairies, and satyrs--it was truly a
spectacular eve-ning.
“We hope those who are passionate about our mission to reduce fossil fuels will celebrate this evening while

helping to change our world at the same time,” said Sigrid Wright, Assistant Director at the Community Environmental Council.
Guests made their way down moss-lined paths to the clear-ing in the woods where they enjoyed music by Palmer Jack-son, Jr., Cord Pereira, and John Simpson. The dinner was in-spired by local farmers, organic wines, and decadent desserts. Guests were treated to a spe-cial performance by Kenny Log-gins and the Santa Barbara High School Madrigals. After dinner, attendees danced under the stars to the tunes of the “Mid-night Band” featuring Lois Maha-lia.
All guests enjoyed interactive events including a live auction and collecting CEC “Green points.” Greenpoints were giv-en to those who arrived by hy-brid car or carpool, or who have made energy-saving home im-provements in the last year. The more Green points, the more chances you had to win great prizes!

The live auction included items such as a “stay-cation” at the Four Seasons Biltmore, an exclusive Sports and Relaxation package at a private Santa Ynez Ranch, a be-hind the scenes Garden Tour of three private estates, and other leisure-themed VIP packages.

“If every day, we as a community move towards a greener life, we can make a major impact on the planet as a whole. It can begin with us,” Wright said.
