Fulfilling the promise of density will require a new architecture and process

Density can start in 4G, but without a new architecture, networks will fail due to:

• Misalignment of capex and TCO with revenue

• Power consumption demands

• Lack of resource flexibility

• Misalignment with cloud and apps platforms

• SCFs definition of 5G Era: densified LTE supplemented by 5G NR and other radios, federated into a virtualised core for a highly automated and dynamic network
