As we gather for the 189th Annual Meeting in our state convention’s history, we rejoice over how God has worked in and through North Carolina Baptists to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. By focusing on these two aspects of “God’s Great Work,” I pray that as we unite together we would be encouraged, challenged and equipped to love God, love others and make disciples. We have a full agenda this year that includes some special activities. Monday evening’s opening session will feature a church planting commissioning service that will celebrate how God is working all across our state through church planting. During this service, we’ll also hear a sermon from our state convention President Steve Scoggins, pastor of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. Tuesday morning and afternoon will include a variety of ministry reports and business items. Some of the highlights will include hearing an update on the “Impacting Lostness through Disciple-making” strategy, approving a Cooperative Program

budget for the coming year and electing state convention officers, and more. Several ministries will also share reports throughout the day on Tuesday. On Tuesday night, we’ll gather for a special worship service related to the “Who’s Your One?” evangelistic initiative that’s been taking place across the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) this past year. I’m delighted that Dr. Ronnie Floyd, the new president and CEO of the SBC executive committee, will be with us during this service to challenge and inspire us with a message from God’s Word related to reaching those who are spiritually lost around us with the life changing message of the gospel. Also be sure to check out the exhibit hall and take the time to attend one or more of the many breakout sessions that will be offered at different times throughout the meeting. I am looking forward to the times of worship, preaching, presentations, fellowship and more that we will experience together here in Greensboro. I pray that God would speak to us in fresh ways while we are gathered together. Thank you for your partnership in the gospel, and thank you for all you do as North Carolina Baptists to celebrate and advance “God’s Great Work” in our state, nation and world.
