(45 minutes; YELLOW ZONE - Rotary Plaza). 11:30 Día de los Muertos Lecture - Professor Laura Larqué will discuss the understanding of the universe from the Mesoamerican Indigenous perspective. The people of Mesoamerica viewed life and death as a transitional process, therefore, they interpreted the separation of the spirit from the body (matter) in a transcendental way. Learn more about this fascinating and beautiful philosophy! (1 hour; YELLOW ZONE – Mahoney Library Reading Room). 12:00 “Our Diverse Community” Art Contest Awards. A juried exhibit of paintings created by SRJC alumni, faculty, students and other artists residing in Sonoma County on a theme that represents SRJC’s commitment to sustainable practices, inclusivity, diversity, and biodiversity.
