NIBA College Scholarships

Our scholarshipsEach year, NIBA College has a number of scholarships available to help brokers attain the next level of professional development and excellence.

Better yet, the application process is straightforward and does not require too much of your valuable time.

Successful applicants will receive outstanding education opportunities, helping them gain a competitive advantage, while saving thousands of dollars – a true win-win scenario.

The Frank Earl Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by Macquarie Pacific Funding, offers Qualified Practising Insurance Brokers (QPIB) the chance to undertake NIBA College’s Advanced Diploma or Graduate Diploma of Insurance Broking.

Frank Earl was a past NIBA President and Chair of the National Education Committee. NIBA has chosen to remember Frank’s contribution by establishing an annual scholarship to allow brokers of outstanding achievement and ethical standing the opportunity to continue their professional education.

Am I eligible?To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

• Be employed or contracted to a NIBA member firm.

• Have either completed the Diploma of Insurance Broking or have a university degree and completed a suitable Diploma level short course in insurance broking.

• Be a member of NIBA College and hold the designation of QPIB (Qualified Practising Insurance Broker)

Applicants will be able to demonstrate professional excellence by providing evidence of the following:

• Leadership activities through their involvement in industry meetings and committee work.

• Participation in special projects which allowed them to develop particular skills or may have had a wider industry benefit.

• Participation in educational programs and public speaking activities.

• Mentoring activities which encourage others in the industry.

• Activities which encourage others to join the industry.

• Ethical conduct and strong business relationships.

What do I need to submit?• A completed and signed Scholarship

Application Form, available online at niba.com.au/scholarships

• A current resume including copies of educational qualifications and awards/ community service activities.

• Two letters of recommendation from current or former broking colleagues or employers that discuss your potential to contribute to the field of broking, your ethical conduct and business relationships.

CGU has teamed up with NIBA to offer two Professional Excellence Scholarships allowing rising stars of the profession to complete Block 2 of the Diploma of Insurance Broking.

Our Diploma of Insurance Broking is the gold standard in broker education. With subject matter developed for brokers, by brokers, you can be confident that you will come away from the learning experience armed with all you need to become a better broker and capable of playing the role of trusted adviser to your clients.

Those completing Block 2 earn 20 CPD points and become eligible to apply for the Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) designation once they have amassed four years’ experience in broking.

Am I eligible?To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be employed or contracted to a NIBA member firm.

• Have completed Tier 1 Insurance Broking.

What do I need to submit?• A completed Scholarship Application Form, which includes

a 300-word submission outlining what professionalism means to you and how you feel the Diploma will improve you as a broker. This can be downloaded from niba.com.au/scholarships

• A current resume including copies of educational qualifications and awards/community service activities.

• Two letters of recommendation from current or former broking colleagues or employers that discuss your potential to contribute to the field of broking, your ethical conduct and business relationships.
