Tuition Fees Payable

To help students manage the cost of full-time tertiary education in Singapore, the Government of Singapore offers a Tuition Grant Scheme that provides subsidies for eligible students.

Singapore Citizens (SC) will be automatically awarded an MOE Tuition Grant (TG) with no bond obligation. Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) and International Students (IS) will need to apply for the grant and commit to a Grant Agreement to work in a Singapore entity for three years upon graduation.

Students who have received TG for studies in degree programmes at NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, SIT, SUSS, LASALLE or NAFA, will be eligible for TG up to the total credits required for graduation at SIT, less the percentage of semesters or trimesters of TG received at their previous university.

If you have already fully utilised your TG for degree programmes and were conferred degree qualifications, you will have to pay non-subsidised fees for the entire duration of your new programme.

If you have graduated from a part-time undergraduate degree programme, awarded by then-SIM University, and was enrolled in the degree programme between 2001 to 2008, please contact us at [email protected] for more details on tuition fees.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE 15

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE RECIPIENTSThe wide range of financial assistance avenues available at SIT continue to enable many of our students, some being the first in their families* to attend university, to achieve their goals and better their family situations.

* This refers to students whose parents did not have the opportunity to attend university.** This programme will be known as Computer Engineering from AY2021/22.

I am the first in my family of five to attend university and we were worried about our ability to cope with the various education expenses. After attending the SIT Open House and looking through the Scholarships and Financial Assistance Schemes brochure, I found out about the MENDAKI Tertiary Tuition Fee Scheme and public bursaries, which can alleviate my financial challenges.

The time I would have spent on working part-time is now used to participate in school activities, such as the overseas service-learning projects and serving the Accountancy Student Management Committee as its Vice-President. With the opportunities and fulfilling experiences thus far, I am certain that joining SIT was the right choice.

The decision to further my education after being in the workforce was a difficult one to make, as my father would have to shoulder the various household and medical expenses of the family by himself. However, being the first in my family to enter university, I was determined to make my parents proud without increasing their financial burden through bank loans and public bursaries.

The financial aid was able to fully cover all the education expenses and allowed me to allocate my savings for my parent’s medical expenses instead. I am able to focus fully on my studies and even secured a Donor-Supported Scholarship!

Being the first in my family to attend university, I chose SIT because of its applied learning pedagogy. Other than tuition fees, I was concerned with how I can manage my living expenses without relying on my parents, especially during such difficult times. Prior to starting school, I planned to work part-time after my classes and thought that was the best option I had. However, through the financial assistance schemes, I am able to invest my time fully in my academics and participate in student activities.

STUDENT RELIEF FUND@SIT (COVID-19)This relief fund was established to assist undergraduates facing unexpected financial hardship due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

My guardian is a housewife and I rely on my part-time job as a private tutor to support myself. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we were greatly affected as my lessons could not continue. With the support from SIT, I was able to cover my living expenses during these difficult times and focus on my education. Most importantly, I no longer have to worry about being unable to cope with my studies while juggling with my part-time job.

My father had several medical conditions and we were struggling to make ends meet. I even considered giving up my education and joining the workforce so that I could provide for my family. I worked as a delivery rider to cover my own allowance and help with my household expenses. Both the Student Relief Fund and other assistance schemes available have allowed my father to recuperate with a peace of mind and for me to reduce my part-time job commitments.

My father was tested postive for COVID-19 and my mother also received a pay cut, in addition to the unpaid leave she had to take to serve her Stay Home Notice. I was unable to secure part-time employment due to the reduced job opportunities and we were heavily reliant on my brother for the past few months. The Student Relief Fund has helped reduce the stress that my parents were facing, as it came in handy for my allowance and the household expenses. This allowed me to focus

on my final trimester where my team attained an A- for our capstone project! While I have managed to secure full-time

employment, the hospitality industry was affected by the pandemic situation and caused a delay in my work commencement. However, I was able to utilise the leftover amount from the Student Relief Fund to cover

my expenses during the delay.
