Each year we offer a schedule of Scholarships and Bursaries for day and boarding students and we are once again pleased to offer these opportunities for 2021.

• Academic Scholarships• IB Diploma Scholarships• General Excellence Bursaries• Music Bursaries• Dance Bursaries• Sport Bursaries• Boarding Bursaries

Scholarships and Bursaries provide partial remission of fees for eligible students. Scholarships and Bursaries require students to sit an exam or an audition. Please refer to the information listed in this brochure, or on our website, for details regarding application dates and requirements.

There are a number of Open Days and enrolment events at our three Townsville Grammar School Campuses throughout 2020. Parents are also welcome to arrange a personal tour of the School, by contacting our Director of Enrolments.

In 2020, Townsville Grammar School introduced a Family Fee Cap for full-fee paying students from Prep-Year 12. This, in addition to our Scholarships & Bursaries Program, provides families with several options to access a Grammar education.

We invite you to discover the value of learning at Townsville Grammar School.

SCHOLARSHIPS & BURSARIES FAQS What happens after my child sits the Scholarship exam?

Once your child has completed their exam, your work is done. All exam papers are returned to ACER in Melbourne, the papers are marked and results returned to us with a ranking order for each child. We will notify successful candidates once the results have been returned. You will receive a personal results sheet to the email address with which you registered. Offers begin in April and continue for several months.

What if my child is unsuccessful in obtaining a Scholarship offer? How do we enrol him/her?

Your child can still be enrolled at Townsville Grammar School – even if they do not receive a Scholarship. The overwhelming majority of students at Grammar are not Scholarship holders.

How do IB Scholarships work?

IB Scholarships are for those students who undertake the IB Diploma Programme in Years 11 & 12. They are not available for students undertaking the QCAA syllabus set of subjects. They are also allocated as a partial remittance of fees. The IB Scholarship is the only scholarship that can be held concurrently with an Academic Scholarship.

How many Scholarships are offered and for how much?

The number of Scholarships offered depends upon the test performance of students each year. For top ranking students we offer a 50% reduction in fees. There is a limited Scholarship Fund upon which we draw. The aim of this funding is to assist as many families as possible to be able to access a Grammar education for their children. Hence, most offers are usually between 10% and 20% reduction in Tuition fees.

GENERAL ENROLMENT FAQS What are the “start-up” extra costs for enrolment?

In addition to the Tuition Fees each year there are some start up fees: $110 Application fee and $300 Confirmation fee. These are ‘once only fees’ for the life of your child’s enrolment.

Can I organise an interview with the Principal and Director of Enrolments, if I prefer a more personalised Q & A session?

A personalised tour and/or interview can be arranged at any time. Contact Kristell Scott, our Director of Enrolments via telephone 4722 4973, or email [email protected]

How do I find out more about the International Baccalaureate Programme for Year 11 & 12?

The IB Diploma Programme is a very special program. Have a look at the International Baccalaureate Organisation website (www.ibo.org)and, if you think your child fits the IB Learner profile, call us and we can make an appointment for you for a tour and an interview with our IB Co-ordinator.

If my child is in Year 6 at the Junior School, do I need to enrol at North Ward?

If your child currently attends Townsville Grammar School you do not need to re-enrol for them to come to the North Ward Campus. They are automatically enrolled until the end of Year 12, unless otherwise advised.
