THRASS INFORMATION

Sessions to be held on Tuesday 23rd April 2.00 to 3.30pm and 4 to 5.30pm at Nilma PS. THRASS stands for Teaching, Handwriting, Reading, And Spelling skills. At Nilma PS we use THRASS as a tool to support teaching and learning. Please come along to our Parent Information sessions. Feedback received from last years session were very positive. “ I think I’m starting to understand how the chart works, and not the English language makes more sense” It is not a lecture. This is an interactive session, with laughs assured! The session will be run by Paula Watts. Please return the slip below by Friday 19th April if you are able to attend either session.

HOMEGROUP HAPPENINGS!

Persuasive Writing

Oi you, yes you, I’m antagonized that

kids all over the world aren’t playing

sport and the population of obesity is

through the roof!!!

To stop the obesity playing sport can

help and you can become strong fit and

healthy. It is scientifically proven that kids

that play sport don’t get sick as much as couch

potatoes. Exercising makes you happier because it

releases chemicals called endorphins they make you

feel happy and relaxed.

Playing a certain sport can help you later on in life,

the skills can be handy, if your play good enough

and play long enough you could get drafted into a

bigger league.

If you like watching AFL or NBA, join a basketball

or footy team. One day you could be as good as or

in the same position as your favorite sports star.

Just join a sport there’s always a sport for you go to

one if you don’t like it go to another. There is a

perfect sport for you out there somewhere.

Sport does not cause any harm to anyone or thing so

that is why playing sport is an important thing in life

and remember Together Everyone Achieves More.

A NEW TERM, A NEW

TEACHER!

Hi, Miss Ewen reporting! This

week our grade has spent time getting

to know me and our term 2 timetable. The timetable

follows the same format as term 1 (only a few changes),

however we hope to establish some more routines around

literacy and numeracy this term. I have tried to take

time to meet parents and family this week at pick up

time, however if I have not got to meet you yet– please

come and introduce yourself to me!

We started work on our book review on ‘Clever Duck’, a

text that the students read with Mr Williams in term 1.

Some fantastic work is already being produced and I

look forward to the presentations in the upcoming

weeks. The students have also produced some great

holiday recount writing pieces, which have been self

reviewed for punctuation and provided all students with

a level on the punctuation pyramid.

I have had a great week getting to know the students

and look forward to the upcoming weeks!
