SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY – PRE – PRIMARY

The Pre-Primary section held a prayer service on the occasion of the School’s 25th anniversary. A song written specially on the school anniversary was sung by all the children. There was also a dance performance by the Sr. Kg children to the tunes of the song “Celebration”.

SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY – SPECIAL ASSEMBLY

On 2nd July, 2019 Vidya Vikas Academy celebrated, 25 glorious years. It has been an endless strive towards excellence since 2004 and the school has worked hard to build a conducive environment to nurture passionate learners and gracious citizens.

To commemorate this day, a special assembly was conducted by students of class 10 B in the school hall. Special activities in poster making, drawing, essays were conducted for students for class 1 to 10 to celebrate the occasion. There was a special prayer service followed by a welcome dance performed by the students of class 10A. Nathania from class 10B spoke a few lines about the school history. A Power Point Presentation highlighting the school’s achievements was shown. Vice Principal Mrs. Tania Monteiro addressed the students on this occasion. The assembly concluded with the school Anthem. All the students enthusiastically participated in singing the school Anthem.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY OF SCHOOL OFFICIALS

The Investiture Ceremony of the school officials for 2019-20 was held on 2nd July, 2019 at 8:30 am in the VVA School Hall. The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a welcome dance by students of class 8.

The parents of the Head Boy, Head Girl and house captains witnessed the oath ceremony. The newly elected school representatives were administered the oath by the Principal, Mrs. Joble Bijoy. The school officials sang a song “Thy Word” as a sign of acknowledgement of the responsibility that lies ahead. Shaurya Jha of class 9 and Anya Gonsalves of Class 10 were the comperes. Miss Annalie Rodrigues, Head Girl proposed the vote of thanks.

VANMAHOTSAV – PRE PRIMARY

The Pre-Primary Section celebrated Vanmahotsav on Friday, July 5th, 2019. The teachers explained to the students the importance of growing trees and taking care of them. Each class planted a flowering plant and related activities were done in the respective classes.

VANMAHOTSAV

‘Van Mahotsav‘– The Nationwide Tree Plantation Festival. To commemorate the occasion Vidya Vikas Academy organised a programme of tree plantation in and around the campus. Students of the Science club took the initiative to bring the plants. There were fruit bearing plants, medicinal plants and flowering plants.

The principal Mrs. Joble Bijoy participated in planting the drumstick plant and curry tree. Students planted the jasmine, aster, jamun and alovera plants in the garden. During the plantation the principal discussed the importance of van mahotstav and the benefits of growing the plants to the students.

A special assembly was held for class 8 students. Students of class 7 enacted a skit on the importance of Van mahotsav. Ruelle from the same class delivered a speech to spread the awareness about growing plants for future.

Students took an oath the protect the plants and keep the mother earth Green.

QUIZ COMPETITION ON ICC WORLD CUP

Vidya Vikas Academy Sports department conducted a sports quiz on the ICC Cricket World Cup, this quiz was conducted house wise.

A team of 4 students per house was selected after conducting the preliminary round. The quiz had different rounds such as Take it easy, Visual round, Audio round and Think and answer. The students participated with great enthusiasm and the audience too responded equally. The objective of conducting this quiz was to motivate the students to gain knowledge about sports and games.

The winners of the Quiz were as follows:

INAUGRATION OF ATAL TINKERING LAB AT VVA

The Atal tinkering lab is a workspace for the students to foster critical thinking, innovation and collaboration, embracing project based learning and use technology to enrich STEM education. The ATL lab at VidyaVikas Academy for students of class 7 to 12 was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Lovneesh Chanana, Vice President of Digital Governance, SAP & Mrs Joble Bijoy Principal, VVA.

The other dignitaries who attended were Mr. Gunjan Patel CSR head SAP, Mr. Prabhu Kumar, Senior Director of Hope Foundation. The dignitaries visited the projects displayed and demonstrated by the students. Various projects on Robotics, Snap programming, 3D printing and 3D painting were on display. The student’s efforts were appreciated and were motivated to take it to the next level. The ATL lab at VVA is in addition to the existing STEAM lab for students of Class 1 to 6.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY – WORLD YOUTH SKILL DAY

A special assembly was conducted by class 10 C students on the 15th of July’19 to commemorate World Youth Skills Day.

The theme was ‘Learning to learn for life and work’. The students made charts on unconventional skills to bring about awareness of different career options. Videos were shown on new skills. The assembly concluded with Quiz on the given theme to enhance an interactive audience.

GURU PURNIMA

The auspicious day of Guru Purnima was celebrated by the students of Vidya Vikas Academy with great reverences and devotion. This day is celebrated on the full moon day of Asadh month. A special assembly was conducted by the students. The programme started with the Shloka, sung by the students of class of 2 ABC. Meher Kahlon, student of class 4 B delivered a speech on the importance of the day. Some wonderful and inspiring quotes on teachers were quoted by the students of class 5 ABC. The students expressed their love and devotion towards the teachers by offering flowers to them. A poem was recited by Shaurya Shetgaonkar on the importance of ‘Guru’. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Kim Furtado.

“NESTLE HEALTHY KIDS PROGRAM” AT VIDYA VIKAS ACADEMY

Nestlé Healthy Kids is a global Program launched by Nestlé India Limited to create awareness of good nutritional practices, healthy lifestyle and greater physical activity amongst adolescent school boys and girls.

Nestle Healthy Kids Program was conducted for class 8 students at the academy. The duration of the program was 6 days. It started on 12th July and ended on 19th July. A session on different modules for 1.5 hours for the first 5 days was conducted. This was concluded by a quiz on the 6th day.

In Goa, Nestlé covers 5000 students annually from various schools. They are in collaboration with the Goa College of Home Science, who provide nutrition experts as facilitators who transfer knowledge in different languages as per requirement.

The programme module is of six sessions for 2 hours conducted for a week which talks about,

Ø Importance of Nutrition

Ø Micronutrients

Ø Balanced Diet

Ø Good Cooking Practices

Ø Towards Healthy Lifestyle

The sessions were interesting as they were interactive and supported by informative videos. Students realized that in the modernized world today the markets are flooded with varieties of food; they need to make wise choices to live a healthy life. Nestle will also conduct a knowledge retention program after 3 months to analyze the impact of the sessions on the students. The students enjoyed the program and are looking forward for more programs like these for them at the academy.

ANNUAL AWARDS DAY

Vidya Vikas Mandal’s Vidya Vikas Academy celebrated its Annual Awards Day with unprecedented splendour on 20th July, 2019 at Ravindra Bhavan Auditorium. The theme for the programme was ‘VVA Udaan’ signifying the celebration of 25 glorious years of the academy, strengthening it to soar to phenomenal heights.

Mr. Nagaraj Honnekeri, Director of Education was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The programme began with a semi-classical invocation dance performed by the students followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest, Mr. Nagaraj Honnekeri, and other dignitaries.

Chairman & Manager of school, Mr. Nitin Kunkolienker delivered the welcome address. Principal, Mrs. Joble Bijoy presented the School Annual Report, highlighting the school’s achievements and accomplishments in academics and co-curricular arenas.

Chief Guest, Mr. Nagaraj Honnekeri presented the awards for excellence in academics and co-curricular activities to the meritorious students of classes 1 to 12. Teachers who reached superannuation were also felicitated by the chief guest for their contribution and service to the institution. In his keynote address, Mr. Honnekeri, through his inspiring words stressed upon the parents to keep their children fruitfully engaged in constructive and creative activities rather than being preoccupied with electronic gadgets. He illustrated the importance of having a dream, goal and focus in life in order to pursue success.

The formal programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by 2nd Vice President of VVM, Adv. Pritam Morais. The Awards Day concluded with cultural events performed by students showcasing a scintillating and vibrant show of songs, dances and skits.

NO SCHOOL BAG DAY – (PRIMARY)

No School Bag Day was held on Friday 26th July 2019. The theme was “HOKEY POKEY FRUIT AND VEGGIE”. The prime objective of organizing the event was to create awareness among students regarding the importance of eating fruits and vegetables each day.

The event began by the morning assembly followed by answering the achievers test in the first and second period. Each class teacher and subject teacher conducted various activities in their respected classes.

The various activities which were conducted in classes are: Students were taught to do fruit and Vegetable carvings, 3 D Craft activity – based on fruits, Fruit basket 3 D and Veggie crown, students were also shown videos and a short movie based on the benefits of healthy eating. Some other interesting activities conducted during the event were Crossword puzzle, Cooking activity – delicious Veg sandwiches were prepared and eaten/ shared by the students in the class, Geometry related drawings (fruits and veggies), and an energetic song was taught to the students based on the theme.

NO SCHOOL BAG DAY – (PRE-PRIMARY)

No School Bag Day was held for the first time in the Pre-Primary section on the 26th July 2019, highlighting the theme ‘Monsoon Mania’.

The monsoon always brings a smile on our faces. This beautiful season is a gift of God to mankind. To showcase the beauty around us the students and the teachers of the Pre-Primary came dressed in blue.

The objective of the Monsoon Mania was to encourage the students to appreciate the world around us.

Tr. Ninoshca spoke about the significance of the Monsoon Season-Why rain is important to us. This was followed by a song ‘Rain on the roof tops” sung by the child4ren.

Different activities were conducted in the Sr. Kg, Jr. Kg and the Nursery relating to the Monsoon season. The activities included ‘A walk in the rain’, Art and Craft work, Games and Videos.

It was an amazing learning experience and a fun filled day for the students. All the children had a good time.

ACTIVITY FOR THE MONTH OF JULY –” SPELL O CHECK “

English teachers of class 6, 7 and 8 involved all the students in a spelling activity as a preliminary round of Spell O Check.

Five highest scores from each class were chosen to compete in the Final round.

The final round was held on 26thJuly. Pupils were categorized in five groups with each group comprising of pupils from all the three classes.

Each group had to answer an Individual round and Rapid Fire round. Students were asked age appropriate spellings.

ART AND CRAFT EXHIBITION

Students of VVA organized an Art & Craft exhibition on 27th July 2019. It got an overwhelming response both from the children as well as parents. Beautiful art and craft works like tile mosaic, canvas paintings, study of artists, wealth out of waste, flower making etc. were on display. The beautiful paintings and artwork left the spectators mesmerized.

MUSIC EXHIBITION

Music exhibition was held on the open house day for parents on 27/7/19. The senior music room had display charts of famous musicians, different styles of music and musical instruments of the world.

There was a live performance by the students of classes 1-10 performing solo and group songs. The exhibition received an overwhelming response from the parents.

EXTEMPORE

Extempore was conducted for class 9-10 as the co-curricular activity for the month of July. The students were given the opportunity to speak without preparation or forethought. By doing so, it puts to test one’s ability to think on the spot and also their spontaneity and creative ideas with precision.

The main objective for the activity was to imbue the true spirit of learning and enhance effective communication skills. The students spoke eloquently on varied topics like sports, friends, family etc. They were judged on various criteria like content, voice modulation, etc.

The manner in which the students presented their thoughts and opinions was commendable and praiseworthy.

QUIZ –” FOOD EATEN IN INDIA “

Learning gives creativity, creativity leads to thinking, thinking provides knowledge, knowledge makes us great.”

Quiz competitions are always interesting and informative, which provides excitement among the students. VVA conducted an inter class quiz competition in the school hall on 30th July 2019 for the students of classes 1-5. Rules and regulations of the quiz were explained at the beginning. It was an interesting 4 round competition, which included identification round, question answer round, puzzle followed by a worksheet (grid).

The questions put forth to the classes were intriguing and exciting. It was a very informative and knowledge enriching competition for the participants along with the audience.

Special Assembly on School Anniversary.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Vidya Vikas Academy, a special assembly was conducted by the students of class 11 on 2nd July, 2019.

he assembly commenced with a prayer service dedicated to the management, Principal, staff, students and the school. Vidya Vikas Academy has completed 25 years of nurturing confident, independent, self-motivated learners and to give a picture of its growth, a video was shown. The assembly was concluded by singing the school anthem.

Global Forgiveness Day

“Forgiveness is a free gift- free to give and free to receive’’. A special assembly was conducted to mark the Global Forgiveness day by the students of class 11B, on July 08, 2019. A brief idea about how the day came into existence and its importance was emphasized.

A beautiful quote, ‘’ There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love’’ was read out. It was followed by a motivational video based on the theme of forgiveness. A group of students put up a skit depicting the value of forgiving others and receiving forgiveness in return.

Election of the Student Council and Investiture Ceremony

The elections of the students’ council, for the academic year 2019-2020 were held in the fourth week of July. The election speeches were delivered by the nominated candidates on 23rd July and the elections took place on the same day. A total of 15 members were elected by the students of Class 11 & 12 and the staff of the Senior Secondary.

The installation of the Student Council took place on 27th July 2019. The propitious ceremony began with the lighting of the traditional lamp. General Secretary, Aaron Barreto delivered the vote of thanks, while the students of Class 11 Neharika Sawant and Samantha Barreto compered the investiture ceremony.

World Nature Conservation Day

World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated every year on 28 July to recognise that a healthy environment is the foundation for a stable and productive society and to ensure the well-being of present and future generations.

Students of Vidya Vikas Academy from the Senior Secondary Section celebrated World Nature Conservation day on 29 July, 2019. A special assembly was conducted by the students of Class 11 Bto spread awareness about protecting nature and conserving our natural resources. The students performed a special mime act to explain the importance of a healthy environment to safeguard the present and future generation. The assembly was concluded by presenting an informative and captivating video.

International Tiger Day

It is said that where tigers thrive, it is a sign that the ecosystem is healthy. International Tiger Day is celebrated on 29 July annually to promote the protection of natural habitat of tigers and to increase awareness about the conservation of tiger. International Tiger Day is also known as Global Tiger Day.

Students of Class XII A organised a special assembly to observe the International Tiger Day. The main motive of conducting this assembly was to create awareness and educate the students to help in the initiatives to protect and respect tigers and wild life which forms an important part of our eco-system.

The assembly started with a short speech on “International Tiger Day” and then a documentary video was shown to enlighten the students with more information relating to Tigers. The students were also briefed about the current population and the growth of the Tiger’s census in India.
