PRINCIPAL WRITES

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Parents should have returned a response to their child’s classroom teacher regarding their preferred times

for our Parent Teacher Interviews which are being held on Monday, June 22nd (2:50 – 6:30pm) and

Tuesday, June 23rd (2:50 – 4:30pm).

If you have not returned this note, teachers may be contacting parents to provide options for the

remaining times available. We aim for 100% attendance by parents at Parent Teacher Interviews.

Parents will receive a note confirming the date and time for their Parent Teacher Interview enclosed with

their child’s report on Friday, June 19th.

BAKE SALE on THURSDAY, JUNE 11th

We have a very supportive group of parents who meet each Wednesday afternoon whilst sharing and

engaging in crafts. At a recent meeting, the parents were keen to know more about SWPBS and the

Rewards Shop. After checking out the many items available at the Rewards Shop, they proposed that

they support this initiative by raising funds to cover the costs for buying some of the rewards. Their

meetings over the past three weeks have involved planning, preparation and delegation for the baking and

donating of a range of food items for a ‘Bake Sale’ which will occur at recess on Thursday, June 11th

. All

items will be 50cents each and will include some gluten-free food.

About the SWPBS Rewards Shop

Did you know…….

The Class Captains, Vice Captains and S.R.C’s record all the names and grades of students who

attend the Rewards Shop

The Class Captains, Vice Captains and S.R.C’s explain, assist and advise students re their

purchases at the Rewards Shop

An average of 60 – 100 prizes are redeemed at the Rewards Shop each session

Between 100 – 200 prizes are redeemed at the Rewards Shop each week

Students can cash in bee tokens for a prize worth 10 tokens, 20 tokens or 25 tokens

Some students cash in enough tokens to be able to select multiple prizes (e.g. 20 = 2 x 10 token

prizes; 50 = 2 x 20 token prizes and 1 x 10 token prize)

The most popular prizes are: Chomp bars, Costco cookies, Lego, Treat bags, loom bands, Bubble

wands

PREP ENROLMENTS for 2016 We conduct regular tours of our school for families seeking enrolments (every Tuesday at 9:00am).

This year all Wyndham Principals and their schools are promoting enrolments in the nearest local school

to where families live. A map of our local school area is used as a reference when considering

enrolments and families who do not live in the local area and these families are encouraged to take a tour

of their local school.

Early next term, I will be informing the Education Department of our predicted enrolments and our

accuracy in predicting Prep enrolments is critical due to classroom space and staffing.

Parents of current students at Bellbridge who have a younger sibling who will be starting Prep in 2016

are strongly encouraged to enrol now.

Please contact the Office if you wish to arrange a tour or a chat with a member of the Leadership Team

prior to enrolling.

ASTHMA FORMS

We still have a large number of students suffering from Asthma who have not returned their Asthma

forms. For any student who suffers from Asthma the school must have an action plan in the student’s file

in case of an emergency. If your child suffers from Asthma, please send the form back to school as soon

as possible. It is important that we have this information on hand so as we can assist your child

effectively.

LATE ARRIVAL/EARLY LEAVERS

Any child arriving to school after 8.30am is required to attend the office, with a parent/guardian, to obtain

a late pass. If your child is leaving school early, the parent/guardian is required to send a note with their

child on the morning informing the classroom teacher of the time they will be collected and who will be

collecting them. The parent/guardian is required to sign the child out at the office, where arrangements

will be made for the child to come up to office.

ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL

If your child is absent from school for any reason, we require parents/guardians to notify the school

office that they won’t be attending. When your child returns to school, a note must be given to their

teacher detailing the date and the reason for the absence.

If your child has any long term absences from school, (eg. holidays, extended illness etc) a note is

required to be given to their teacher informing them of the absence prior to them commencing the

absence.

OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS CARE

We have three weeks left for this term and all accounts need to be finalised by the end of the term.

Parents need to notify the program staff if any child/ren are not going to attend the program. By failing

to do so, you will be charged for the day.

If you would like your child to do their homework at the program please let the staff know.

The program provides a healthy breakfast and afternoon snacks for the children when they attend the

program.

Before School Care opens at 6.30am in the morning for parents who need to start work early as there

should be no children walking around the school before 8.00am.

CYBERSAFETY WEBINAR REPORT

All Grade 4-6 classes participated in a live cybersafety webinar offered by the Department’s Digital

Learning branch on 28th

May, titled "Making Good Choices Online".

The presentation was designed to assist students to:

*help students think before spreading content that may upset others

*include scenarios where students consider the best choice of action

*introduce the TEC – Think, Evaluate, Choose tool to achieve the best outcome for everyone

*encourage students to discuss choices with a trusted adult

Some comments from students in 5C about the session:

Jochebed - I found it good interacting with other students. It was interesting to read other student's

opinions on different cyber-safety situations.

Connor - I found it interesting talking to people from all over Victoria. It was fun seeing others' opinions

on how cyber-safety should be valued.

Hunter - I thought the presentation was interesting to watch, and I liked how we could answer the

questions ourselves.

Gopal - I liked the pictures in the presentation and I thought the student comments used were done well.

Laura - I liked how we could [see] the presenters on the webcam.

Bellbridge School Song (to the tune of ‘Click go the Shears’)

Verse#1:

Bellbridge Primary

Is our school

We all follow

A set of rules

Safe and happy

Every day

When we work

And when we play

CHORUS:

We are the best school

Yes we are!

We all learn together

And everyone’s a star

Trying our best

Is what we like to do

We are proud that we belong

At Bellbridge Primary School

Verse#2:

Red and blue are

The colours we wear

We’re always proud

And we always care

We try our best

When we work and play

We celebrate success

It’s the Bellbridge way!

CHORUS:

We are the best school

Yes we are!

We all learn together

And everyone’s a star

Trying our best

Is what we like to do

We are proud that we belong

No student’s identity will be provided to the Australian Government Department of Education and Training. The collection of this information from states and territories will inform future policy and program planning in relation to students with disability. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Debbie Clancy on 9749 6161 or the Victorian Department of Education and Training Data Collection Hotline on (03) 9651 3621.
