School Community Councils may provide advice and recommendations to the Board of Education respecting policies, programs and education service delivery, including:

• Fundraising, School Fees, and/or
• Innovative projects.

• Ensure that the school learningimprovement plan is consistent with the mission and goals established by the Board for the school division as a whole, and
• Recommend to the Board of Education approval of the school learning improvement plan.
School Community Councils are to be actively involved in cooperation with the school staff in developing the school learning improvement plan for their schools. Specifically they are to:

1. Begin with a positive opening statement addressed to parents and the school community, including an open invitation to attend all School Community council meetings.
2. List the names and positions of the Council, and whether they are Officers of the Council.3. Name, identify, and acknowledge the efforts of outgoing School Community Council Members
from the previous year.4. List the dates of previous year’s Council meetings, as well as any information about upcoming
meetings. 5. Attach a copy or summary of the School Learning Improvement Plan and describe progress to
date.6. Describe progress on any other initiatives undertaken by the School Community Council.7. Describe any fundraising activities and/or school fees the School Community Council has
recommended. Provide a financial statement related to these activities.8. Include a copy of the student Code of Conduct and note any changes that the Council has
recommended.9. Include a financial statement describing all monies spend by the Council.
