Plant Facilities Levy: What is the Facility Improvements and Energy

Conservation Project?

What do Facility Improvements and Energy Conservation have to do with education?

What is the bottom line?

Page 3: School Levy's Eco-Benefits

Facility Improvements and Energy Conservation Project: Energy Conservation Measures – Projects that reduce

the amount of energy consumed with a cost that results in shorter paybacks.

Facility Improvement Measures – Necessary infrastructure projects that may or may not reduce the amount of energy consumed but provide additional benefits to the occupants that are beyond financial benefits.

Sustainability Measures – Projects that modify the way tasks are normally provided to minimize the use of fossil fuel.

Impact on Education A healthy productive learning environment

comfortable thermal environment improved ventilation Improved indoor air quality = reduction in lost days for

students and teachers Financial Savings

retro commissioning reduced energy use, “a bigger slice of the budget pie for

other needs” incentives and grants

Hands-on Learning school as a teaching tool The project can serve as a reminder that small changes can

make a big impact; bike to school, recycle, buy local.
