CURRICULUM

Course enrollment was good last year with 23 of our 26 regular courses having double digit enrollment. Spring 2010 was the début of Sheep and Goat Production which had an enrollment of 15. Horse Production class had to be moved to a larger classroom to accommodate an enrollment of 29. During pre-registration for Fall 2010 the enrollment limit for Intro to Weed Science had to be increased from 20 to 25 to accommodate a total of 22 pre-registered students. Currently all of our classes for Fall 2010 have double digit enrollment except for Seminar which has an enrollment of 6. Student success in our Agriculture classes was good last year. The pass rate was 100% in 20 of our 29 classes. An additional five classes had pass rates in excess of 90%. Ag Orientation, Principals of Animal Science, Ag Economics, and Contract Marketing and Futures Trading each had a pass rate of 80% to 83%.

Our curriculum is accomplishing the task for which it was designed.

Our minors have not caught on as no one is currently an Animal Science minor, Plant and Soil Science minor, or an Ag Business minor. Ag internship is another class that is under utilized by our student body.

FACILITIES

Finance and Administration has indicated funds are available to repair the foundation of the Agriculture building. This work will likely be completed in the coming year. The chiller for the new wing of the building has been repaired, serviced and inspected and should continue to meet our needs for the foreseeable future. Once the weight room for athletics is moved to the Indoor Practice Facility we will have the space we need to fully utilize our greenhouses.
