Module Choice Website
www.nottingham.ac.uk/english/current/level-2-module-choices
The Module Choice website contains essential information about all modules - including pre-requisites and how the modules are taught and
assessed - as well as links to the online module choice form you will need to complete.
Level 2 Module Choices Choosing your English modules
2
How to choose your second year modules
1. Check the regulations for your course in this booklet to see how your
options work and how many modules you need to choose.
2. Visit the Level 2 module choice website to look through all the modules.
The website is: www.nottingham.ac.uk/english/current/level-2-
module-choices
3. Decide which modules you would like to take in which semester and
check any pre-requisites.
4. Ensure that your credit split across semesters is as even as possible. A
60:60 weighting is normal but a 70:50 or 50:70 weighting is also
permitted if necessary. A 40:80/80:40 weighting is not permitted.
5. Decide on any alternative modules in case any of your first choices are
over-subscribed. You will also be asked to indicate your most preferred
choice.
6. You will be notified of your module allocations by email when the
School has completed the allocation process.
7. If you do not register your module choices in time, or wish to change
your module choices at a later date, you will need to wait until
September to choose your modules. Please note that, by this time, it is
likely that many modules will be full. There will be a specific module
changes session in Welcome week for you to change modules.

Q300 BA English — Course Regulations
You need to choose six options:
Five options must be from at least three areas (GROUPS) of English:
o Literature 1500 to present
o English language and applied linguistics
o Medieval languages and literatures
o Drama and performance
Your sixth option can be chosen from any area, and may include the creative
writing option if you took the pre-requisite Year 1 module.
You can choose a maximum of three modules from any one group.
All choices are dependent on having taken any necessary prerequisites.
You may substitute one 20 credit English module for 20 credits of Modern
Foreign Languages options at Level 2 or above. This means that students can
continue languages, but can’t take total beginner courses as these are Level 1.
You will still need to cover three out of the four areas of English if you do this.
A full list of modules and semesters can be found opposite.
You must ensure that you are taking a total of 120 credits, normally with a
60:60 credit split between semesters, but with not more than 70 credits in either
semester. All modules are 20 credits unless specified otherwise.
