About the courseBA Acting is an innovative and excitingundergraduate programme designedfor those students with aspirationstowards a career in the performanceindustry. The degree carefully balancesvocational actor training withcontextual study and the creativeexploration of performance theory.The range of transferable andpresentational skills is significant andapplicable in a range of employmentcontexts.

BA Acting students will follow anintensive programme of practicalstudy which blends the acquisition ofperformance skills with performancemethodology and contextual studies.

The first year concentrates on thestudent’s development as a performer,with modules in voice, movement anddance, acting and devising, whilst thesecond year tests these skills in avariety of theatrical genres andcontexts. The final year is entirelyproduction-based with a series ofpublic productions culminating in afinal performance project ande.showcase.

About the courseBA Theatre Design and Production isnow firmly established as a leadingprogramme in the training ofdesigners, scenic artists, stagemanagers and technicians. Its pyramidstructure builds upon a broadfoundation of production skills inareas such as costume, stagemanagement, scenic construction andscenic art. The second yearconcentrates on the application ofthese skills in a variety of designcontexts before students specialise ina particular discipline for an entirelyproduction-based final year. Theprinciple of developing graduatesskilled in more than one area, with afirm foundation in the methodology oftheatre-making is central to theteaching. Work placement modules inthe final year have increasingly led toemployment opportunities andgraduates are currently working in arange of theatres from small-scaletouring companies to large-scaleopera companies.
