DATA REVIEWED & ANALYZED:
Based on your schools NSPF results, identify what additional data have been reviewed and analyzed in development of the SPP.

Summary Statement: Please provide a brief description for how the analyzed data will impact your Inquiry and Action Planning process.Data for the completion of the School Performance Plan included a review of all staff lesson plans, formative and summative assessments presented across each grade level, and coverage of the NSPF along with our statewide SBAC and NAA results. SBAC assessments and grade level summative assessments were analyzed to determine gaps in content instruction for all subgroups in order to ensure long term planning for the upcoming year would provide more opportunities for higher cognitive demand and student discourse for all students. The team also shared AMAO results and student IEP dynamics in order to determine whether or not all grade level curriculum was available to all students, and to plan where to place instructional emphasis. In addition, the staff reviewed previous instructional rounds data to determine specific content and instructional needs. The content for all NEPF trainings provided to staff was analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the staff development in terms of material presented and observations by administration in classrooms as well as student use of framework content. These observations were made in all classroom settings to include all students. Trends in teacher planning and student performance showed deficits in the use of DOK 3 and 4 instruction across both summative and formative assessments. In addition, preliminary assessments for the 2016-2017 academic school year showed a high number of students in grades K-3 not proficient in reading.

COMPONENT IV: REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR TITLE I SCHOOLS:
Title I Schools operating a Schoolwide Program must complete Items 1 through 5 on this page.
1. Describe the school's strategies to attract effective, highly-qualified teachers to your school.Conners Elementary administration and staff attract effective, highly-qualified teachers by building a strong community and culture with existing staff to create a positive learning and teaching environment.
2. Describe the school's strategies to increase family engagement in accordance with Section 1118 of NCLB (see resource link), such as family literacy services and the provision to parents on how the school will share academic information in a language they understand.Conners Elementary School has fully implemented the Read By Three Initiative and its components in order to provide families with a clear academic picture for their child's future success. In addition, family academic nights and podcasts are scheduled to offer parents the opportunity to see a model for working with students and gain an understanding of strategies presented across all curriculum and the school.
3. Describe the school's plans for transition and articulation between school programs (ie: assisting preschool children from early childhood programs such as Head Start, Even Start, or a state-run preschool program to elementary school, elementary school to middle school, and middle to high school, etc.).The school's autism programs run from Pre-K (KIDS) through grade 5, giving all self-contained students the opportunity to stay on our campus for the duration of their elementary education. In addition, our counselor provides a field trip for all 5th grade students to attend their zoned middle school for the purpose of transitioning to the new campus, learning about extracurricular programs, and determining their schedules prior to the end of the school year. Finally, in order to help our 5th grade students make the transition to middle school, our grade level teachers have set up a departmentalized schedule whereby students rotate to two different teachers throughout the day in order to receive necessary instruction.
4. Identify the measures that include teachers in decisions regarding the use of academic assessments.Teachers work with their grade levels to determine common assessments and work through PLC meetings to analyze data and plan for future instruction and assessment. In addition, the site has chosen to participate in benchmark testing (AIMSweb, STAR, and DRA) for all students in grades K-5, and SBAC practice tests in grades 3-5.
5. Provide assurance that federal, state, and local services are coordinated and integrated into the school improvement effortsEileen Conners Elementary School is a first-year Title 1 school that services approximately 800 students each year. We are located in the Northwest part of the valley and are home to a diverse population of students to include 4 self-contained autism classrooms in grades Pre-K through Fifth grade. We do not currently have an active PTA or PTO. However, we have assembled a team of parent volunteers who assist in daily activities and family events to ensure our community feels welcome and a part of the decision making here at Conners ES. When identifying strengths, we noted that as our students moved from grade 3 to 4 to 5, we saw an increase in proficiency rates for ELA. In addition, our students overall outperformed the district in both ELA and Math. Our areas of target for the 2016-2017 SPP include more instruction in NEPF 2 (High Cognitive Demand) and 3 (Student Discourse), more opportunities for students to work with DOK 3 and 4 tasks, addressing the needs (both academically and socially) of our Black/African American subgroup (closing the achievement gap), fostering a culturally compenent staff for the purpose of drawing in our community, and significantly reducing the number of K-3 non-proficient readers. In order to address the areas of target, we have outlined our action steps in goals 1, 2, and 3 for the purpose of increasing our overall student achievement.
