SCHOOL PRODUCTION SUCCESS Last night, our whole school was involved in our school production ‘ SUPER KIDS’ at Drouin Secondary College Auditorium. What a magnificent production of REAL Super Kids! The staff are so proud of the achievements of all students. While spending several months practicing and rehearsing, at times posed a little challenge to students – this experience has enabled students to deal with work closely as a team, understand commitment, develop persistence and concentration to achieve the outcome of building confidence and a positive sense of achievement. Well deserved too! Thanks to all the parents for supporting the production and encouraging children to have a go, do their best and build their personal and interpersonal skills. Thanks to staff for working over the past few months, guiding students to work towards producing both
personal bests and team efforts!
HOMEGROUPS Learning Programs for 2014 In our flexible learning areas we will be working in home groups and smaller working groups for Literacy and Numeracy. The home groups (HG) for 2014. Miss Emily Matarczyk- HG 6/5, Mr Kerry Williams - HG 5/4/3 Miss Monica Berkelmans - HG 3/2/1 and Miss Kathryn Closter - HG 1/F. This year we will be renaming our home groups by new names related to our REAL values and REAL Kids @ Nilma. We will be asking children to create ideas for the naming of our groups. This change will support our school philosophy of catering for individual learning needs and what is best for students. This will further extend our focus on learning and the success of our whole school literacy and numeracy program from this year.
REPORTING TO PARENTS ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS—STUDENT REPORTS Student reports will be completed and sent out at the end of year with student portfolios in the last week of school – Wednesday 17th December 2013.
MARC VAN – book returns A final pick up of overdue books will be on Tuesday 10th December. A $10 fee will be issued for each lost book, so start searching if you haven’t already returned your book/s. Let’s see if we can get all books back in by next week.
STATE WIDE ORIENTATION including Foundation students for 2014. Next Tuesday 10th December is the Statewide Orientation Day. Students from kindergarten will be in attendance all day and our year 6 students will be attending their secondary school. Children will spend the day in their new home group. HOMEGROUP HAPPENINGS!
School Production The school production was awesome. We got
to speak loud on the microphones and sing.
My favourite part was getting the banana
peel out and Patrick slipping on it. I was
trying not to pass out when I was singing. I
was sad at the end of the night because
Superkids is finished. By Dominick
I was a bit nervous at the school production. I was playing
Dulcet the music teacher. My costume was based on Mr
Cottrell our old music teacher. On stage I felt like I was
going to muck up my lines. It was awesome to perform in
front of the audience. I think in high school I would like
to be in their school production. By Cooper
I was a Prep in the school production. I was a bit nervous
at the start. I was scared I was going to forget my lines on
stage but when I said them in front of the audience, it felt
good. At the end of the night I was very tired. By James
I was Louise and Nigel had a crush on her. I ignored him.
It felt scary to perform in front of the audience. My
family thought it was a funny school production. I was
scared to do my lines. Back stage it was really busy with
all the students. By Mckayla

Yesterday the 5th of December we had our
whole school production called Super Kids. It
was about Super Kids saving the school from
school bullies. I got really tired practicing for
the production but it was fun on the night. I
was nervous before we went on stage. Every
time I looked at my family I would nearly laugh
because my sister would be either recording me
or taking pictures. Andrew Burdett
On the 5/12/13 we had our production called Super
Kids .We sang Let`s Hear it for Vegemite, Kids’ Lament,
Nigel and Finale. My Mum, Dad and Grandpa came. The
grade 6/5’s had the main parts. Patrick and Harrison were
ninjas in the Japanese scene. In the Japanese scene the
bullies came in late. Patrick was Captain Vegemite and
Harrison was the Wholemeal Kid. The production started at
7pm and ended at 8.15pm. Aaron Cooper
On Thursday the 5th of December, Nilma Primary School
went to the Drouin Secondary College to have the school
production, Super Kids. I can’t remember when we first
started rehearsing because we’ve done it so much, but last
night we did it for real! I thought it went really quick but it
was still fun. Our grade were the Vegemite Kids. The
songs we sang were Let’s Hear it for Vegemite, Kid’s
Lament, Nigel and the Finale. Anthony Scott

School Production Well done 3/2 on your amazing work in the
school production chorus. You all did a great
job remembering all the words and actions.
I'm very proud of you all, great work! Miss C
I loved that everyone came to the school
production and that my friends were in the
chorus with me. My family came. We sang
school bullies, there’s a place for dreamers and the
finale. Ashton
Last night we had our school production. I really enjoyed
singing a place for dreamers and that was also my dads
favourite song. We sang school bullies we mucked up a bit
and got really embarrassed. Carolyn
Last night we did our school musical. When we went on stage I got a bit of stage fright because I got scared about going on. The second time we went on I was less scared. The third time I wasn't that scared. I enjoyed it. Brianna
Yesterday was the school concert. I liked singing school bullies. I liked playing naughts and crosses with Daniel while we were waiting to go on stage. Lane We coloured in colouring sheets when we were waiting to go on stage. We went on stage to do two songs. It was fun. Teagan
Yesterday we practised our school production and while I
was waiting to go on stage I did some colourings. I drew
Miss Closter some pictures. It was exciting to be on stage.

School Production!
Well done to the grade 1/P ! All
your hard work and practice resulted in a memorable performance! This is what a few
of the kids have to say...
I sang in the microphone by myself and I sang beautifully! My pants fell down and it was very funny. Chloe.
My mum said I did a great job. I loved being on stage– I thought it was going to
be scary, but it wasn’t. Matilda

Last night we had the School Production called ‘Superkids’. We had spent all day at the
auditorium practising the play with costumes and music. It was hard work. It was finally
the night. Students got to the auditorium around 6.30pm and got into costume. Some
students were feeling scared that they might forget their lines and others because they
had to sing in front of a lot of people.
Before the first scene everyone was really nervous. Patrick and Harrison had to look like
nerds when they went out in the first scene. It was really funny. Back stage was really
dark with lots of students around trying to be quiet. When I went out on stage I was
shaking a lot especially when I picked up the microphone.
The production went smooth and awesome. It was great production and all the students
did a fantastic job. Some people mucked up their lines but they made it work. Everyone
sang their songs really well. A lot of people were shaking and had a lot of nervous
adrenalin but they all went out there and had a go. It went really quick and before you
knew it we were all out eating beautiful food.
By Harrison and Dominick.

YEAR 6 SUMMIT CAMP
The year six students went to a day camp called Summit Camp and they all had fun. The schools were Nilma, Bona Vista and Darnum. We all met new friends and at the end we got to have dinner there. We had to talk about ‘GAS’, G stands for Give it a go, A stands for Ability and S stands for Support. There was a high wire. It was really fun and we had to go with a partner. We had to high five our partner on the high wire. Then we sat down, then laid down on the wire and then stood up and your team would pull you down. It was scary being up high and believing the harness and your team member wouldn’t let you fall down. There was a flying fox and we had to go in trees and over water it was really fast. The teachers had to catch you at the end. We had to go over this log with a mud pit underneath. There was a wombat hole and it was really dark, long and muddy. We were all dirty. We had a competition between the two teams called the ‘Monster Course’. We raced and we had to hold tyres or hold hands we were not allowed to let go but the teams let go. The day was fun and we were challenged throughout the day. There were many activities that put us out of our comfort zone but we felt proud overcoming the challenges. By Mckayla and Jack H.
