Christian took nearly every art class the school had to offer including Fiber/Jewelry Making, Illustration, Graphic Design, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Media Production and Advanced Placement Studio Art. He also participated in the Olympics of Visual Arts in Saratoga Springs in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He placed 3rd and 2nd in two of those competitions. We congratulate Christian on being this year’s CAC Scholarship winner and wish him well in his future endeavors. Paulette Krakowski Will Talk About Galleries at the Member’s Meeting Please join us Sept. 26th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. for a special “Artisan Talk about Galleries” by Paulette Krakowski. This will give artists an overview about galleries, grants, the importance of social media, expand your resume, gallery contracts, etc. Artist Paulette Krakowski has worked as an artist all of her life; in the printing field, the fine arts, as an art director, instructor and gallery owner. She attended college at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and State University College at Buffalo. For many years she worked in watercolor and pen and ink. However, she has expanded her artistic interests to color pencil, pottery, collage and mixed media over the past 20 years. Having completed an art therapy minor, she encourages individuals to use art as a therapy; it can help someone express themselves, explore their emotions, manage addictions, develop social skills and improve their self-esteem. During her artistic career, she has belonged to several art groups enjoying group exhibits. Ms. Krakowski has been invited to demo her collage/mixed media art style at many Western New York art societies. Her artwork has been sold internationally, nationally and locally. “Every artist was first an amateur” Ralph Waldo Emerson. COMING SOON!! The Fall Members’ Art Show!! AROUND THE SCHOOLHOUSEOur Members Are Making Us Proud!

Carol Koziol Clark’s watermedia painting, has been juried into the Buffalo Society of Artists 124th Catalogue Exhibition. The Exhibit will be hung at The Sisti Gallery North, 6535 Campbell Blvd, Pendleton, NY 14094, from September 22-October 27, 2019. The opening reception is September 22, 2-5. “This Way and That Way” (shown left), a watercolor of Koi which includes abstraction and stamping techniques was juried into the 28th Regional Artists Exhibition by John Opera, at WNY Artists Group Gallery, One Linwood Ave, Buffalo. Show runs August 23-September 27.

Centennial Art Center Members’ Fall Art Show 2019

at the Hamburg Public Library

The CAC will hold its Fall Members’ Show at the Hamburg Public Library at 102 Buffalo St. Hamburg, NY, 14075. The following calendar has been established to minimize the impact of our show on the library. All works in the show will be pre-registered using the form on the bottom of this sheet. Keep the top part, as no other notification will be mailed.

If you intend to enter the show (and we are encouraging all our members to enter), please read all information carefully.

Please fill it out clearly and mail to: Mary Ahrens, 4945 Abbott Road, Orchard Park, NY 14127, postmarked by Saturday, October 19. Enclose your $25.00 entry fee check for two pieces of your work, or $20.00 check for one piece. Makeyour check payable to the Centennial Art Center of Hamburg, Inc.

The utmost care will be taken in handling artworks, but artists are responsible for their own insurance. Neither the Centennial Art Center nor the Hamburg Library will be responsible for the loss or damage to artwork. You may enter two works that have not been shown at Centennial Art Center shows in the past. They must be your original work, properly framed, and wired for hanging. There is no size limitation (within reason). Show Committee Chairman is Mary Ahrens (649-0740). Please feel free to contact Mary if you have any questions or concerns.

Judge of Show – Carol Case Siracuse received her BFA from Smith College. She did graduate work in Architecture at HarvardGraduate School of design and at Princeton University. She has a Masters degree in Architecture. She is a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and a past president of the Niagara Frontier Society of Artists.

No other notice will be sent to members for the Fall show. Special Session Life Drawing

Draw or paint a nude figure model. Artists pay approximately $10 per session to cover the cost of the model. Artists must be over 21. Photography is prohibited. Call Lee Heinikel at 992-2943 to set up a day.

Studio Days Thursdays

Artsy Birthday Party for Kids

The Centennial Art Center is offering art centered parties for children 6 – 12, two hours on Saturdays and Sundays only between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. $15.00 per child **** without pizza $12.00 per child, 10 child minimum. ARTISTS’ CHOICE CLASSES FOR ADULTSWatercolor Painting or Pen & Ink Drawing

with Lynn Jay • Wednesdays 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Fall into an exciting new hobby or improve the artistic skills you already have while enjoying the company of other art students. Learn special techniques for layering washes, texturing, perspective and more. Classes are open to students of all skill levels. Making Art with the CAC Printing Press Workshops with Walter S. Mayo • Workshops: Tuesdays Oct. 8, 15, & 22, 7-9 pmThe former Evans Art Guild printing/etching press has been moved into the CAC School House and will be available for classes or individual use. If you have not used a printing press before, then come to the workshops to find out how to use a press for art making. Watercolors with Pat Burger Tuesdays, Noon – 2:30 p.m.

Materials will be provided for the first classes. If you have watercolor supplies, bring them. The teacher will supplement them and guide you as to what you should purchase. Students are invited to bring photos of people or houses if they wish to personalize their work. Books and videos will be available showing a variety of techniques you may wish to try. Cost: $10 per class plus $8 monthly lab fee if you are using the instructor’s supplies. This is an on-going class. Painters may enter the class at any time. The Centennial Art Center was founded in 1975 for the purpose of promoting and encouraging public interest and support of the Arts.
