Yvette Poshoglian

YVETTE POSHOGLIANYvette Poshoglian is a writer, teacher and consultant. She is the author of over 30 books for children and young people including the bestselling ELLA AND OLIVIA series and the brand new PUPPY DIARY books. Yvette is an experienced English teacher and has worked on major projects for the NSW Department of Education including the Premier’s Reading Challenge and the Invictus Games. Yvette has also written historical fiction including MY AUSTRALIAN STORY: ESCAPE FROM COCKATOO ISLAND and the FRANKIE FOX, GIRL SPY series. From 2015-2018 she was the North Sydney Writer in Residence. Yvette is passionate about storytelling, writing and creating.

KIRLI SAUNDERSKirli Saunders is a proud Gunai woman with ties to the Yuin, Gundungurra, Gadigal and Biripi people. Kirli is the Manager of Poetic Learning and Aboriginal Cultural Liaison at Red Room Poetry, and in 2018 Kirli founded the Poetry in First Languages project. She was awarded ‘Worker of the Year 2017’ at the NAIDOC awards in the Illawarra/ Shoalhaven region and was nominated for a National NAIDOC award in 2018. Kirli’s first children’s picture book The Incredible Freedom Machines, illustrated by Matt Ottley was selected for Bologna Book Fair and is published internationally. Her first Poetry Collection, Kindred is forthcoming from Magabala in 2019; it was Highly Commended in the 2018 Black&Write! prize.

NSW RECONCILIATION CHALLENGEThe Schools Reconciliation Challenge is an annual writing and art competition for young people across NSW and the ACT.

This year in 2019 we celebrate 10 years of the Schools Reconciliation Challenege and our theme is: Speaking and Listening from the Heart.
