Silas Schuler, the first-born of Samuel and Susan (MoyerWeisz) Schuler, was born in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, about theyear 1821. Volunteered in Company A, 107th O. V. I. at Canton,Ohio. Was wounded in the first day's fight at Gettysburg, Pennsyl-vania, and was mustered out with his command at end of service onJuly 10, 1865. Being sick at the time he was sent to the hospital atCharleston, South Carolina. Where he died two days later, July 12,1865. He had never married.
