SWITCH TECHNOLOGY

:::::::::::::: IbSR SlIDE bASEPlATES AND IbRR CHECK RAIl PlATES FOR SWITCHES ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

SCHWIHAG slide baseplates are fi tted with an inner bracing system for stock rails (IBSR). SCHWIHAG spring clips SSb2, SSb3 or SSb4 can be used, depending on the position of the IBSR slide baseplate within the set of switches. For the outside of the stock rail, the client’s preferred fastening system (e.g. SKL, Pandrol, Nabla) can be applied. The same inner bracing system for running rails (IBRR) can be fi tted in the crossing-check rail area.

THE SCHWIHAG IbSR AND IbRR SYSTEM HAS PROVEN ITS WORTH FOR OVER 20 YEARS IN THE HIGH SPEED, HEAVY FREIGHT TRANSPORT AND STANDARD OPERATION OF RAIlWAYS IN MORE THAN 50 COUNTRIES WORlDWIDE.

05

:::::::::::::: IbSR SlIDE bASEPlATES AND IbRR CHECK RAIl PlATES FOR SWITCHES ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

All IBSR slide baseplates and slide plates can be fi nished with a wax-sealed, corrosion-resistant, lubrication-free molybdenum coating or equipped with lubrication-free, wear-free sliding inserts made of CuSn8 F66 bronze, with or without graphite discs. These coatings or sliding inserts are an add-on, especially in the heel of the set of switches in combination with the SCHWIHAG switch blade rolling device. Here they reduce the break-off forces (adhesion) of the switch blade and increase the wear resistance of the sliding surfaces. The lubrication-free molybdenum coatings or sliding inserts, together with the SCHWIHAG switch blade rolling devices, guarantee permanent low actuating forces.

IBSR slide baseplates and IBRR check rail plates are made of ductile cast iron, ready for installation. Die-forged slide plates and bearings suitable for every rail and switch blade profi le are available for the manu-facture of welded plates for smaller series and special designs.

The whole range of plates can be optionally equipped with sleeper screws, threaded through-hole connectors or preferably, for elastic bearing, with W fastening (angle guide plate, spring clip, sleeper screw/anchor).

Different spring clips are used depending on the re-quired elasticity.

::::::::::::::::::::: SCHWIHAG MODUlAR bEARER SVS WITH INTEGRATED SCHWIHAG ClAMP lOCK SYSTEM SKV :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

SCHWIHAG modular bearer SVS

The weight and outer dimensions of the modular bearer SVS correspond to those of conventional concrete switch bearers.

The locking components, actuator and inspector rods and the drive motor can be completely integrated in the hollow sleeper. The modular bearer SVS can therefore be completely ballasted, thus enabling continuous, mechanical tamping of the area of the set of switches.

In addition, making the modular bearer SVS from ductile cast iron increases its shift resistance compared to concrete sleepers. On request the modular bearers are equipped with molybdenum-coated, lubricant-free IBSR slide baseplates and roller plates.

The ability to heat the modular bearer SVS and the additional cover enable a protected arrangement of the actuator and inspector rods and the locking components. This ensures optimum protection against the weather and dirt.

The modular bearer SVS can also be supplied for other types of locks (including clamp lock, SPX clamp lock, crossing lock, addition device and integration of a drive motor) according to the customer’s wishes.

SCHWIHAG clamp lock system SKV

Structure and actionThe switch rail is keyed, mechanically locked and fi xed in the adjacent position by means of a vertically swivelling catch. This ensures that the fl ange cannot run in between the stock and switch rail. The clearance between the switch and stock rail can be continuously adjusted by means of a tappet.

The preassembled individual parts can be installed on site without adjustment work. The stock rail web does not have to be drilled. The easy-to-install locking tap-pet is simply clamped onto the base of the stock rail. The necessary hole in the switch rail base is usually made in the switch factory.

ApplicationThe SCHWIHAG clamp lock system SKV can be used as a switch blade lock and interlock and as a lock for the movable switch diamond. The compact design of the SKV not only allows installation in the space between sleepers but also problem-free installation in the SCHWIHAG modular bearer SVS.

IMPROVED STAbIlITY OF THE WHOlE SWITCH ENSURES A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN THE INCIDENCE OF MAlFUNCTIONS AND INCREASED NETWORK AVAIlAbIlITY.

Switch driveThe SCHWIHAG clamp lock system SKV can be connected to the standard switch drives (e.g. S700, L700, L826 series).

Adjustments for linking to hydraulic switch drives can be offered to customer specifi cations.

The SKV can also be used in hand-operated and trailable one-way switches.

Hollow sleeper for cable crossing

Due to its integrated cable conduits, the hollow sleeper enables permanent safe cable crossings in tracks and switches, even with mechanical maintenance and straightening.

The cable ducts are also elastically fi xed with vibra-tion-damping rubber pads at the end openings of the sleepers. To ensure maximum safety, electrical insulation is placed between the rail baseplate and the sleeper body. Due to the completely machined top of the sleeper, the correct position of the base of the rail is defi ned by the rail baseplate.

The easily removable cover ensures optimum protec-tion against the weather and dirt. Unhindered access from the top and side make the sleeper inspection-friendly. Thanks to this optimum accessibility, it can be retrofi tted for existing cable crossings at any time.

The sleeper body can be easily installed in the ballast bed. It is not necessary to disconnect or cut the cables.

Hollow sleeper for control and safety equipment

The hollow sleeper is also suitable for holding vehicle monitoring systems, e.g. hot box detectors and wheel locking detection systems.

THE HOllOW SlEEPER IS MADE OF DUCTIlE CAST IRON AND IS COMPARAblE IN WEIGHT TO A CONCRETE SlEEPER. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE SlEEPER HAS SHARP EDGES AND INDENTATIONS FOR A STAblE POSITION IN THE bAllAST.

ENGINEERING

::::::::::::::::::: ENGINEERING ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

SCHWIHAG sees itself as a partner of railway operators and the railway industry for all aspects of track and switch technology.

Research and development

Purposeful research and product development are very important to SCHWIHAG. Though constant contact with the railway companies‘ engineers, we are able to determine the requirements for forward-looking track components.

We use the 3D CAD system Pro Engineer to develop new products and to adapt or optimise already proven products. The necessary FEM analyses are then carried out on the basis of this CAD data.

Prototypes are tested for their general technical properties and fi tness for use in railway operations in our own laboratories. Continuous load tests can be performed according to the test conditions of international standards or to the specifi cations of the railway companies.

Following successful testing in the SCHWIHAG labo-ratory, the components and systems are tested again by independent test institutes as part of the approval procedures. Here SCHWIHAG works closely together with renowned testing and research institutes, such as the Technical University in Munich and the Technical University in Dresden.
